R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
My MCS is replaceing my wifes chevy s-10. She is getting my 328is in return. What happen was, her lease on the s-10 runs out in March, so I took her to test drive the MCS. She didn't like it, it was too small and she wanted something bigger like a SUV. I told her that she could not afford a SUV and that the MINI was the coolest car in her price range. After much debate, I told her, if she buys the MINI, I would let her drive the BMW and I would drive the MINI. We would do this for 1 year and then trade the BMW for an SUV. Not a bad deal for me. We both get what we want. I get a MCS and she will get a SUV a year from now.
What is your MINI replacing?
Rocketpop – Chevy S-10, and the wife gets the BMW 328is
Rfath – red-but-pink ’93 Ford Probe GT
Katiedidmini – ’97 Toyota RAV4 – purple
Rataha – ’95 Geo Tracker, now the kids car
WagsFTB – ’92 Mitsubishi Galant
Ryephile – ’93 BMW 325i
This is quite a diverse listing here, but then again, I'm not too surprized
Cheers
Ryan

>>What car is your MINI replacing, if any?
I'll have to admit that I was part of them (SUV crowd) but hopefully not for much longer. My car right now is a 1990 Jeep Cherokee. But I'm glad to say that i'm happy to get rid of it for a 03 MCS. Anybody would happily make that trade right?
And an interesting story from the ASK MINI hotline...
I just called Ask MINI and the woman said that she saw both dates (2/28 & 3/7). She claimed she had never seen this before!!! Wierd. So I can only hope that my baby will stick in the month of February! Best of luck to all!
NY's got nothin' on Northern Cali, in my oppinion Andy!
I really wish I still lived there, and I really really wish I could take my mini on a drive through Oxidental, out to Bodega Bay, through all those curvey vinyard lined roads and rockey seashore cliffs! Some day I certainly will but you might have to do it in the meantime for me
As far as I know there aren't any roads out here that come close to that.

>>>>katie - funny that we're going opposite ways to get our cars... I'm in Boston heading to NY.
>>
>>That is funny! What dealer in NY? The closest one to me is MINI of Manhattan, and well, it's in Manhattan, need I say more? But you probably feel the same way about Herb Chambers in Boston right? I'm buying from the guys over in Peabody, because they just happened to be the first place I went to check out the mini and I got a cool vibe from them. I'll probably be getting my service work done at Hassel MINI in Long Island though.
>>
I'm getting mine from MINI of Westchester.. Had a GREAT salesguy there who's sadly switched over to the BMW side.
I actually had a car on order with MINI of Peabody, but they had at least a 10month wait at the time. I had some car problems that necessitated getting my deposit back for the money to repair, so I cancelled, waited a bit, then placed my order with Westchester. I'm still coming out quite a few months ahead. They're great people there, especially Keith.
Don't even get me started on Herb Chambers...

I'm currently driving an '89 Honda CRX that has about 217,000 miles on it. I really love small cars and i knew the mini was the one to replace my CRX. I'm really gonna miss the great gas milage though. $10 of 87 octane gets me about 260 miles easily!!
The MINI is replacing a Sable station wagon. Life is too short for dull cars!
It is really replacing my 1966 Austin Mini Cooper S that I sold in 1974 to begin a life of awful company cars, which I an still saddled with.
Just checked the Owner's Lounge. My build date changed from 3/28/03 to 3/14/03!
Will call Wednesday to find out it's status and report back.
Business took me across the street from MINI of Manhattan today. Right in the window was a CR/B MCS with bonnet stripes and driving lights! I got weak in the knees.
But I have not seen one MINI that I did not like yet.

I had an 87 CRX si (bright red like my Chili Red MCS on order) and it was a great car. The problem is kids and a two seater. I may not be able to have the whole family in my mini (wife and three kids) but that's what her minivan is for.

Okay, okay - with a heavy heart, I submitted my resignation from the "March" club. (should have seen the hand writing on the wall). I was originally scheduled for my MCS on 2/14, but figured out that if I waited until week 10, I would get the DVD NAVI instead of the CD-ROM version. So my dealer switched me with a lucky buyer (sans NAV). I have been slipped twice to 3/21, due to delays (with the DVD NAV?). I guess as consolation, I will also get the week 10 or later "low brake pad warning light". My production number is 3702808 (don't want to be a weenie with my new club mates).
My birthday is in April anyway.
Cheers,
Jeffrey

OK, I'm about to raise the dark silver quota up another notch.
After agonizing what over what to get for about 6 months, I finally placed my order last week. Delivery is scheduled for the end of April: MCS, dark silver, white, premium package, sport package, rain sensor/mirror dim, nag system, HK sound system, leather interior.
I've been on a wait list since last year at Long Beach MINI and was told not to expect delivery until about December, possibly even 2004! I could also lay down an additional $6,000 from a Beverly Hills dealership and order right away (the premium was $2,500 at the Orange County dealerships) So I started calling around (all around the West half of the U.S.) and found that you either pay a premium or expect to wait a year. Then I found Brian Harris MINI in Baton Rouge--no wait, no rape. Guess this isn't a popular car in Louisiana. So I'm looking to go to the jazz festival in New Orleans and drive back to SoCal in a new MINI! Road trip, yippie!

Check this out. Mapquest.com has an aerial photos tab that gives you a satellite image of any map you look up. Find your favorite MINI road and dream away. I suppose you could even post them, although I haven't tried it yat.
