Chronological age is 22, mental age i'm not sure about since it's the measurement of intelligence in which an individual's mental level is expressed in terms of the average abilities of a given age group.. haven't taken an IQ test lately
BUT the age i act drastically varies.. can't say that the mini will make me act like a kid since, well, i still am!

as far as the name of my MINI goes, Winni just seemed logical as winnie cooper was the hottest thing on tv when i was a wee lad, and if i could correctly put an image in my sig, there'd be one of her....

nice weather we're having,

ryan

I'll be 40 in March (about 2 weeks after my MCS is born) together we average 20. That's pretty close to my mental age.

Since we now have a member who is either floating or soon will be I thought some might find this thread interesting. Thank god we are not the 1st can't wait club, as others before us have done much of the leg work. Hope they keep your wheels dry wagsftb

hello all!

the age question first: you all know that i'm 18, (18.5 as of yesterday!), however i behave like i'm nine, whine like i'm 4, and worry like i'm a forty-something (no offense to anybody).

as to the question about the 1k in options: dealer installed, or at least purchased from the dealer. it's a little bit of old fashioned price gouging. i'm not sweating it though, i try to think of it as a way to make morgan unique.

what do you nice folks do for a living? i'm a freshman at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and i'm studying to be an engineering physicist (a.k.a. rocket science).
i work at old navy, and fight crime on the weekends as a mysterious superhero...

>>Ryan is gone for the weekend lets hope he has fun. But lets keep this thread active. Question for the morning How often do you call ask MINI

Just once (ordered on 2/4) to get my "number" 111. They were extremely nice, went over my order to make sure the door panels were as ordered, and said feel free to call everyday if I wish.

She had a knowing laugh when I said I have not been this excited about a car in over 30 years! They must hear a lot of that!

But my dealer said I would get an emaiul within days of the order, and I have not.

What am I missing? I guess I should call him.

Well it appears my Canadian production number does not work, I thought it wouldn't. I will try calling ask mini to see if they can help. I tried today but they where closed because of weather, a storm.

WOoo hooooo, VA... yeah i don't think i paid anything over MSRP except for the 550 destination fee for getting one special ordered and 300 for the paperwork (which took all of 15 minutes)!

I gotta question... whenever I see a MINI driving around, I get mixed feelings.. I first think "cool" that guy/gal's gotta MINI, they must be cool. Then I starting thinking that I sure hope they don't catch on and sell like crazy. It's nice having something different, which is part of the appeal... to me, anyway. Just wanted to get you guys' opinions... would you rather the MINI stay pretty quiet, or blow up like the beetle and PT cruisers? And do you think they will become pretty popular?

The MINI can only get so popular, since the factory makes a certain amount per year I don't mind having a few other MINI's around my town, but if they become as common as a Suburban or Explorer, they'll lose some of their percieved on-road persona. This is positive, in keeping undue attention and vandalism low, and negative in become part "of the flock".

Ryephile:

OK, OK, If you must know [and you must, of course]; more info on my "exists only on paper" MC: Velvet Red/white roof + mirrors; kaleido cloth/black doors/silver trim; Sport package; CVT; Xenons; chrome bumper inserts; OBC. On 3/28, I'm turning 47. Occording to Oprah Winfrey am a rare commodity; a straight, single male with a steady job and no criminal record. Mental age varies; from 4 to 97 - I blame my multiple peRsoNalTies. MC is replacing '93 Saturn SC2. Yes, once a decade, like clockwork, I buy a new car. Purchased NOT from Manhattan MINI; way too much "Bimmer" attitude there [With hands on hips - "Well, we just KNOW you're going to buy one..."]. Took a quick hour drive to Westchester MINI; dealt with MINIQueen herself. More info to come - have to keep SOME mystery.

For the list.... Real age: 47; mental age: varies widely. Car replaced: '89 Rover Sterling.
And did you notice that while California has taken over the list, half of us are ordering our cars out of state, like waaaaaay out of state? By the way, I think I'm paying around $69 in documentation fees, nothing like what some dealers are reportedly charging.

I looked into going out of state to buy, but when I counted the cost of travel, time off work, gas, meals, etc.etc.etc. The dealer markups weren't bad. In fact, I was at a dealer just a few weeks ago who had 6 or seven minis on the lot ready to go with no markup. They were aslo lowering markup to under $1,000 on other cars. Want a car now? Shop in CA. East Bay in Pleasanton MINI sells all cars at MSRP, but you have to wait a few months longer. SF mini gladly reduced their markup to under $1,000. I have talked to dealers all over the state, and all that I talked to were willing to deal.

CA doc fees $45
Licence $177.
Sales tax depends on where you register.

Unless you really like to travel, buying in CA is not a bad deal. Plus, we need to keep the dollars at home!

Under another topic, someone had asked if the mini is a girly car..
I would love to hear if there are more men or women in the April club!

I am happy girl to be getting my mini soon!!! And am turning 30 on April 16. What a great gift the mini will be!
