Yes, oh Oz the Great and Powerful, I have accomplished what you have asked; as of today, my Velvet Red/White MC [tenative name: ShuttlePod One] is at Status 152 - the paint shop. Assembly begins momentarily. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode!

>>I've only been to the dealer once since I ordered, but that's simply because all of them are pretty far and out of reach for me. I do basically stalk all the three minis that I tend to see at my school or in my neibhorhood!
>>
>>Here's a question for all of us still in school: Does anyone at your school currently drive a mini?
>>I've got one freshaman who drives a BRG/W cooper with the nav, and there is a Faculty/Staff member(I only know them by their parking pass) who has a stripped down Black/W cooper. I've debated leaving them notes, but haven't gotten around to it yet...any suggestions?
>>-Katie

Well, I'm freshish from school and work near Boston University.. I've seen a few Coopers and even fewer S's tooling around the area. Mostly I see more VW's and BMW's in the area, though.

<grin> I know in the Audi enthusiast world (hey, it's the only other one I know anything about... but I feel like I'm sitting here like 'and one time, at band camp..') it's not that uncommon to come across another Audi-phile who asks if you're a member of certain websites/read certain boards. It's amazing... people swapping user names all the time. Last time was at the FedEx office picking up a package. I don't think that a note is uncalled for, but then I'm an enthusiast and wouldn't mind getting a note on my car. I can imagine that it might creep some people out, though...

I promise to keep this brief and not start ranting again. Has anyone heard from wastik lately???? Did he get to keep his Miata? I am just worried about his mental state.

Hope you all are having a great day, still status 150 here

Keep smiling

I know exactly what you mean Zero! I took this class over the winterim, and one of the assignments was to do a brochure for any company we wanted. Of course I chose MINI(details of the brochure now appear in my sig.) and when I gave my presentation, everyone had all these questions about the car. So launched into the whole schpeal and then I said if anyone was interested that there were two know MINI's on campus and "...one of them is owned by a freshman, either a freshman or an RA for the freshman dorm because it's always parked right behind it. It's green and the owner is a girl with brown curley hair, at least I think, I've only ever seen her from a distance, but I don't know her, which is why I think she's a freshman." When I looked back out at the class, they were all staring at my like I was totally insane! SO I shut up, and now I don't ever really talk about it anymore, hehehe.

I broached that subject, and pretty much got that wife look that said... "did I really marry such an idiot?"

I'm not too worried about my mental state since I'm replacing it with an MCS. Now if I was going for a Hummer H1, I would totally understand an intervention by my friends and family.

Katie, You're good luck. I have been calling every day waiting to go to 150 to no avail. When you posted that maybe today is a chilli red day, I imediately called askmini, and sure enough, my chilli red is now at 150 with a vin #. thanks for the inspiration.

Wastik.
Don't give up. Try this. My Mother in law bought this blue mustang convertable, and when she got another car, She sold it to my wife, and started this thing about an "heirloom" car. Now my daughter is set on getting it some day. Women love sentimental heirloom things like rings and stuff like that. Why not something really cool like a convertable?

By the way, She is a SoCal gal also.

There's one cooper i've seen at school, driven by a faculty member. it's a PS/B MC, which is sorta like mine but mine's gotta PS roof. I think his/hers is a 2002, and mine will be MUCH cooler!

Katie, bout your sis going to Yale.. they have like a top-ten, maybe 5 psyc program. Not sure about criminal profiling (i think you sait that, something like that anyway), but she better have a crap load of natural science credits along with psyc, even though I think it's more science-driven.

The Carmen, which my MINI is on, has already been delayed by two days and scheduled to arrive on the 26th. i just hope i get it by mid spring break or the 14th at the latest, so i can take it up to Baltimore for my conference.

Cross your fingers

wastik, dont you have a family member somewhere with an extra spot in their garage? sell it to them, on some sort of "i'm just hiding it" basis... i dont think i could give up such a beautiful car if i were in that position.

rataha is right, there is a way, somehow!

sigh...black is last in the color series, does that mean i have to wait until they do all the other colors??? that's a long time!

I'm at 151 and they say I will move into 152 over the weekend.

I went for a MINI fix today. The weather was beautiful here in the "City of Brotherly Love", so I went to my dealer and we went for a ride. They let me come in whenever I want to get my MINI sensations! It always reminds me of how smart we all were to buy this most awesome and incredible piece of machinery. Can't wait for mine.

BTW: I heard the HK system today and it sounds great.

You know, I just realized, where are all the rally lights?! What's up with that? I really wanted them, but I figure, street parking in NY, they'd be gone within in month tops. I still kinda want them though, what do you guys think?

So Katiedidmini you want dealer installed options.

I believe I will have the rally lights
Probably Rubber floor mats grey I think
6 disc CD changer
And if the factory isn't smart enough to make the blue shift lever and boot standard with my interior I will have to have that.

Only planned Mod will be rear Fog/brake light conversion.
And a custom roof graphic.

Come on wastik be a man, Tell her who is in charge of the garage, or rent a storage garage tell her you cancelled the insurance on it and it got stolen, I will figure out how to post a pic of mine then everyone here will gang up on you and call you a ****** if you don't keep it

Good Day,

End of April delivery - March production.

03 MCS DS/Blk, Prem. Sport, Nav, Lthr, HK/6CD, Aero Kit, Volt/Oil, Sunrf, Antera 18x7.5, Kumo 215/35.

Considering JCW option - priced here in Canada, with labour still a variable, at $7500 (labour in that's expensive, labour out is hard to justify).

Production Number - 8707356

Regards

Last couple of days, I have been looking at wheels at Tirerack.com. I kind of like the ASA JS6 wheel - it even has a deep blue insert on the hub. And a lot cheaper than $1500 for the BBS R90's - I think I'll get 5 and put on some Yokohama rubber, dump the run-flats, all for under a grand.

New Question - what will all y'all bring as far as tunes to play in your own, brand-new Mini? I'll go first, although my musical tastes are not exactly mainstream. The first track that I will hear through the HK will be Resphigi's "Pines of Rome" as done by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band (a true British Brass Band, of course)

Phil

a very good question you pose...what to listen to indeed?

some new found glory, all american rejects are pretty good too. some punk covers and some new wave 80's to round out the mix, i'm pretty sure i'm gonna make a small road trip home to show the new baby to the folks, so i'll need lots of tunes!

Anyone remember that '80's c•ck rock ballad that goes, "MO-T0-RIN'!... What's your price for flight?...For finding Mr. Right?"
hehehe, that song always comes to mind when anyone asks this question.

See now I would tend to think though, something british and classic would be appropriate. The Kink's are a favorite of mine, so possibly Victoria, or The Villiage Green Preservation Society. Or maybe the Stones album, Flowers, or anything by the Beatles, of course. And there's always the other end of the spectrim with say a british band like the Clash. Then again maye I'll just want something fun and poppy, like the Talking Heads or the Breeders. Guess I'll just have to see what mood I'm in at the time?

I'll be listening to Elvis Costello (another good Brit). The first song says something about my jaded view of things - the first song will be (The Angels want to wear my) Red Shoes. For those of you who don't know the song, the opening line: "Oh I used to be disgusted now I try to me amused..." The Mini is a perfect antidote to being disguested and will allow me to laugh and smile.

I agree with all of you on your musical tastes and the move towards British artists.

The 80's band that recorded Motorin' was Night Ranger. I'll spare you the details of how I know that. My musical taste is very broad. I told my wife that I have my cd recorded and ready for the HK and she called me a lunatic. She thinks I'm obsessed and I can't argue with her......I am, plain and simple.

The interesting part of my cd is that all the tracks are car themes from the different manufacturers advertisements. An example is "Just Breathe" by Kyle Minogue. If you haven't heard this song, on a good system, you ought to. You can get the song off the web and burn it on a cd. I guarantee you will think of driving your new baby as soon as you do.

My cd is a tribute to the car manufacturers who can't come up with a quality vehicle like the MINI! I steal their songs and play them in the best car ever made!

$.02
