Grill looks nice. Thinking about one of that style. Where did you get that one and how is the quality and finish?

Quality and finish is surprisingly good. I bought it here: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Fit-02-06-Mi...72.m2749.l2649

Bought a 2013 Mini S with 84000 miles on, car drives nice and feels solid. The previous owner took good care of it and has the service records from day 1, but now it's in my hands I would like to service the whole car .. seeking some knowledge as to where to start or what to start with

Welcome to NAM! You have a Gen2 car, see the Gen2 forum section and especially the FAQs.

Well close enough. Installed the aluminum clamps. Better than the hose clamps

Looks great. Black hood scoop would be perfect IMO

Yesterday I attempted to clean up some spots on the hood, and in the process, destroyed my factory bonnet stripes. So I then removed the stripes, and waxed the entire car.

Then, feeling a bit down, and needing a quick win, I decided I'd change the oil. Despite using a six sided, properly sized socket, I managed to begin to round off the oil drain plug. It wouldn't even budge.

At that point I went back inside and watched TV for the rest of the evening. Sometimes you need to listen when the automotive gods are telling you to stop.

New cabin air filter - used the
Bosch C3672WS Bosch C3672WS
from Amazon, not the OEM. It's a lot cheaper and does not go in anywhere near as easily, but it works just fine. I discovered while under there that last time Mini did this replacement, they left off the four screws securing the plastic cover. It snaps on pretty securely, but still. I've discovered a lot of things that Mini service techs have skimped on doing my resto. Bolts they replaced with non-stock after having dropped them down onto the engine (found three bolts on the top of the engine when I did my head gasket, and I had only dropped one).

Cabin does smell a lot better now though!

So I update my intake to on my R50. In the process of doing so. I decided to take of the throttle body an give it a good clean. Glade I did.
Looks much better now. I also found the line attached to the throttle body going to the purge valve has a lot of dry rot on it. So i need to get some new line for it.

Blue, our R50, got new shoes the other day. 185-65x15 Continental True Contact Touring all season. I have been waiting to post to see what I thought of them. Ok, for a base level AS tire, first impressions are really good. I wasn’t expecting much in the way of handling, but these match the car really well. This is not a car I push real hard in, but it is only slow around corners if the car ahead is slow. Ride is much better than anything else I have put on it. Between these and the Koni FSDs, the ride is now very good and still well controlled. They are reasonably quiet and there is no wandering with them... The car is very much a pleasure to drive.

New Clutch, flywheel, clutch fork and axle installed!

Just picked up my Mini this morning after it spent over a week at my trusted mechanic's shop. My mechanic agreed to only charge me labor if I get all the parts myself, which I did. The total cost for installing a new clutch kit(CarQuest), fly wheel(Luk) clutch fork(Valeo) and a driver's side CV axle was $1200.00 even. Good price compared to any dealer in southern California.

MINI Heart Transplant

I knew this day would come. Ordered a new engine from MINI.

Replacing the engine after 267,000 miles on the original. Don't have all the details of the wear and damage but figured it's better to replace the whole thing. The cost of the new engine is about $1,200 more than completing just the top-end repairs, which would have left me with an old repaired engine. Lucky to get one of only two available in the US.

Ordered K&N filter for a DaveF style CAI - my open top CAI from years back doesn't work well at insulating from the engine bay any more as I no longer have a hood blanket. Picked up a stock airbox lid too (mine has been long lost). Ordered some hopefully matching carpet for a new RSD that I'll be putting together shortly. Looking for some sort of trick mounting pins for the front.

Winter is coming, so lots more stuff to order soon.

Checked and topped off all fluids, checked tires, quick dusting, and started packing for MSSD. Leaving at 4 am tomorrow to head down.
