welp...

on the way home from the dealership from doing this I drove over some construction debris without knowing it. Came out later on to try Sport Mode only to find my run flat ran flat and was torn up pretty well. So I'm now parking it for a week while I wait for my Michelin Pilot Sports to come in...

Replaced a thermostat housing on the R56 and a starter on the R53. Fun couple of days.

So I fixed an issue with my dual gauges. Sometimes the needle on the speedometer side would not go to zero causing my speed to be off. Other times it would settle to zero. So I broke down my old tachometer an removed the needle potentiometer unit. Then removed the one from my dual setup. Replaced the old one with the donor. An now works like a champ.

JCW Exhaust

Last week I had the JCW exhaust put on my 2019 Cooper S. It's awesome! Sounds great. Took the dealer four days to install the thing.....had issues programming the tune - but they provided me with a loaner, so I can't complain.

Replaced Belt on my 06 cooper S, it's only been a year and I cant see the hole on the tensioner, used

Gates K060535 Gates K060535
17% + 2% Crank Pulley, I can see past the hole now.

Replaced the Tensioner Damper with URO Parts 11288620210D Belt Tensioner Damper
https://www.amazon.com/URO-Parts-11288620210D-Tensioner-Damper/dp/B07HGBJ3LT/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=mini+cooper+tensioner+damper&qid=1594062655&sr=8-5 https://www.amazon.com/URO-Parts-11288620210D-Tensioner-Damper/dp/B07HGBJ3LT/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=mini+cooper+tensioner+damper&qid=1594062655&sr=8-5

re-used my Powerflex bushings on it.

I noticed some play (very little) on the Tensioner pulley, is there a way to replace that by itself or I have to get a whole new tensioner?

thanks

Today was more of a "what did you do FOR your MINI today......My brake lines rotted out and Inskip MINI replaced the full length of hard lines....Some job ! I get a sense part of the problem is parking over cement in the garage....which has a tendency to hold moisture....so installed this tile floor kit to hopefully keep that in check.

In keeping with the "what did you do FOR your MINI today...... I ordered Cottonwood dash trim pieces and the new Digital Cluster Speedo. Now I just have to wait for them to get here.

Well after a couple months of waiting on the us mail service an us border an customs going back forth to get my post facelift ECU. I have my 04 R50 running a fully functional Chromo package. I really love this look.
Then I had to replace a defective drivers side door regulator again. Becoming an expert on damn regulators.

New Radio

Finally finished installing my new head unit. I was looking for an aftermarket one that had an OEM look, yet had Bluetooth, and USB.

For those wondering, this is the VDO TR7412UR-OR, and is quite popular for those who have an older car, but want a factory looking Bluetooth added. This also allows hands free talking since it has a built in microphone, which is quite nice.

I had to buy a fascia trim, plus an antenna adapter so it would be plug n play. Connecting each wire to the proper one wasn’t the most trivial, but I made it work just fine. All I need to still put on is the head unit trim that I’ll have to slightly modify to snap into place.

The only thing I could not get to work was the steering wheel controls, although I’m not that bothered about it. I thought I had the correct wire connected to it, but it’s still not functioning. Either way, everything else works, so I’ll call it sorted.

I've been looking for an inexpensive front spoiler option for a long time, with no luck. Decided to grab a couple front winglets from a 2013-2015 MX-5 Miata and mount them to my front bumper. Turned out better than I expected, since the front bumpers are wildly different. This should tide me over from spending mucho dollars on a JCW front bumper for a little while.

Added a front "S" grill badge, too.

Did a handful today:

New Mini windshield
Polished her up and applied some needed wax
Change all the wiper rubbers (take note of the transplanted left wiper with wing to the passenger side)
Change 2 rear light brake bulbs. Should only be one but when I placed the unit back the other decided to go out too.
Change side marker bulb
Oil change
Fuel injector service
Polished left headlight and removed some yellowing stuff. Looks brand new again.
Removed the upper console and reglued the retaining ring around the headliner as for a 14 year old car glues tend to go dry. It was starting to fall-off as it delaminated from the headliner and somehow when my sunroof was replaced they never managed to put it back properly so I fixed it myself.
Will be needing new brakes 3mm left suggestions what to use? OEM or???? The car ran 30k since I changed the brakes/rotors used original mini parts.
Brake flush done (2 years up)
Change AC blower resistor.

137k and still running strong. Got a 2020 loaner car while being serviced and I hate it. only thing I like is the turbo motor but other than that can't take away my R56.

Looks great!
For the street the EBC Green Stuff or Red Stuff (for more aggressive driving) pads are popular. Less dust than the MINI pads. Rotors, most any should do. Way Motors has brake change kits. ECS likely has something too.

yes that’s the one. Seems ok. I won’t be adding extra rod. To add some flex when it scrapes. Gonna wrap it. The front lip was ebay as well awhile back.

it’s plastic !

That looks awesome, but wouldn't last one trip in or out of my driveway. Lol! Bone stock our r53 scrapes.
