Oof. Post track weekend maintenance is fun. For every twenty minutes spent on track, you spend a couple hours the week before and the week after doing maintenance.
Turns out the stock diverter valve (the new one P/N# 11658636606) does not like 22 lbs for extended periods of time. This was a good excuse to replace it with the Forge recirc. Forge is on the way, hope to have it ready for a shake down run this weekend. Good times.
And for the rear too? I really hope they work well for you. And don’t be surprised if you thinK you might need to move up to the 12s with the power (and speeds) you are making. RRR looks fun and looks a lot like Lime Rock Park for the first 4 turns and the last. LRP is pretty easy on brakes. My guess would be RRR is pretty easy on them too.
Front and rear. I thought your advice in the other thread was excellent.
I was thinking about what you said about the DTC-60s at low temperature and figured with RRR they may never really get hot, and I’m not trying to buy rotors right now
Went to go pick up my R53 from the shop after a much needed clutch job... and the factory MINI water pump that had just been installed had already sprung a leak :(
Probably have to wait until next week to feel what its like to actually grab the gears again!
Started blacking out all the chrome on my 2011 Pepper white R56. Decided to learn how to wrap stuff. Started with something simple with the headlight rings. Came out pretty decent for my first try.
I found out I could clean my pipe ends with class top (ceramic?) stove cleaner easily.
I also changed my cabin filter and engine air filter. They were nasty!
First time changed in 48K miles. My fault.

Had a little fun today. Changed the LEDS on my gauges. I think I'm going to get some white LEDs an change the one under the needles to white instead of green.

I've thought about doing this to my R56. Was it hard removing the surface-mount LEDs?

New Steering wheel installed I guess I won't have the paddles option anymore. The wheel actually comes with the large round plastic back, so that part doesn't need to be swapped over. That screw in what looks like a back arm panel (directly under the paddle) is for the front face plate. The arm panel where the paddles are attached isn't a panel at all. It's a rubbery section which is molded and bonded around the steering wheel arm, front to back, all one solid piece. There are no holes for the paddle wire to pass through, and no mounting points to attach the paddles. Unless someone can drill holes and router small rectangles into the back of the rubber pads, or cut up and glue on their $730 brand new steering wheel, it's probably not modification that's worth it. There's no way the finish is going to be as good as how it was made. I don't use the paddles, only the manual side of the stick, so it kind of hurts taking away the looks and functionality, even thought I don't use it. But overall the wheel is nice, about a billion times better than the stock wheel with grey stitching. Also, I didn't swap the oem wiring harness into the new wheel. The paddles use one extra wire and a ground. (It's the brown ground in the center of the metal frame.) The new wheel is wired for no paddles.
Got it back from my mechanic so I took him on the work commute!
New Valeo clutch, powerflex LCA bushes, water pump, two new axles, expansion tank, adjustable rear camber links.. it's like a different car, but the same all at once.
