The "install" is: Plug it in to the OBD2 port. That's it. You also have to put it somewhere, which is where the various mounts (like my home-made one) come in.

The readouts in the SGII get updated about 1-2 times per second. That's just fine for things like water temp that don't change rapidly, but I would not want to rely on it as a tachometer, for instance.

So far, I have really enjoyed the SG and it's data. Like STF said, stone simple install and a lot of mounting options available (comes with adhesive velcro). I'm waiting on the Cravenspeed dual mount (GPS/SG), which upon further investigation, is now sitting on my porch at home.

Thanks!

Today my wheels came. And are tucked in for the night in our kitchen.

Installed the OEM roof rack on my R53. A lot of fun drilling holes in the roof of your pride and joy…

The templates are not particularly accurate and you're provided in the kit with a nice 14mm hole saw - however you need a 15mm diameter final hole for the bolts. You definitely need a dremel and make sure you have a drill with a half inch chuck for the hole saw. All in all it took me about 3 hours for the install going carefully - no drama and the final install is very nice. A very nice rack indeed, particularly for $165 from Outmotoring. Much better load capacity than the aftermarket racks, no risk of distortion to the black plastic drip rails and MUCH cheaper if you do the installation yourself.

After what seemed like an eternity, my Bluetooth dongle finally arrived from Hong Kong. Install was easy, connected right up and sound is superb. Just doesn't seem to do phone calls though. Oh, we'll. Music is good enough.

I ran the audio cable up behind the window switch panel and back out along the pillar. Picked up a right angle connector at Radio Shack for $3. Total spent for Bluetooth music....$9

For the first time in 30 some years I wrenched under a bonnet!
Wife's 07 Cabrio-
Spark plugs
Air filter
Cabin filter
Oil & filter tonight when my son-in-law brings me his 36MM shallow socket. Mine was to long to fit in the engine compartment.
My 08 Justa Hatch
Spark plugs
Oil & Filter tomorrow.
Pelican parts has a great "How to" section. It's a pain that all the tools and parts are different for these two cars however I realize the two engines are nothing alike.
I've always changed oil & filter at 3,000 but will go 5 on these autos. I check oil twice a week and the 07 has 34,000 and used no oil since the last change. The 08 just a few ounces. It just turned over 39,000.
Fun fun fun

My Grandson's MINI

My Grandson just turned 2, and he loves his "Papa's" MINI, so I found a used child's toy car on craigslist and rebuilt it and painted it to look as much like my MINI as I could. How do you like the results? It was a beautiful Florida day, so I washed and waxed my car before taking these photos. Name: IMG_5151_zps57859a4c.jpg

Long day, started at 7AM.....

I'm gonna "Joey Mod" the face lift Xenons with custom paint, so grabbed up another set of aftermarket headlights to use since it's my daily driver.

HaloHDLightsandRearGPBumper022.jpg?t=1351214274

Picked up a Xenon kit for the low beam projectors......installed those, nice kit BTW.

UPDATE: 11/05 - Kit is nice butthe length of the Xenon bulbs are a bit longer than a standard h1 bulb so you end up with two bullseye's for cut off. I would
also attribute this to cheap lenses maybe too, but for $150.00 the headlights are AOK otherwise. IMO if you purchase a
set of these lights maybe just do the bulb upgrade to sylvaina and leave it at that.

And these for the high beam...They are super white.

Installed M7's Carbon Fiber Air Plate Diverter - painted the mounting bolts with black caliper paint.

Did A 7,000 Mile OIL CHANGE....

Set the Hotchkis 25.5 RSB to lowest setting for the season.

Detailed the calipers while mounting the Enkei's/Blizzak's for this winter....

Detailed the MINI afterwards.

We did a club run to Laughlin, NV and then headed out to Oatman, AZ. Ended up at Pirates Cove, in Needles, CA. Here's my girl, looking a little concerned about being in front for a change:

Came home with a very buggy grin. She likes club runs!

Thanks . I should have a finished product in a few weeks as I am also working on a lower cost option for replacement side mirrors ala Craftsquare style.

That is so cool. I really love all the details you did, from the exhaust caps, to the dash gauges!!!

Installed a K&N Typhoon air intake purchased in the Marketplace here at NAM. Haven't been able to do any extensive driving with it yet, but I'm liking it so far!

What did I do to my Mini today? I filled it with siphoned gasoline from my 3 Chevy's in storage. We in NJ have some issues with getting gasoline after Hurricane Sandy and I refuse to wait in lines for fuel during our state mandated rationing. I'm trying to wait it out. I've been without power, water, or heat for 7 days and it looks like around 3-4 more days before I get it back. I am hoping for about 3 days and I'll be able to stroll into a gas station and fill it up without waiting for 2 hours.

I took out the 6 disc cd changer and magazine from the back of BOO...('05 BEP MCS) Tossed it in the trash as I had no use for it......(Da*M I forgot about you peeps here...I'll run out and get it, might sell it cheap, as they go for around $200)...Put in the silver rear rubber mat from minnie-me ('04 DS MCS). Took out the top back cargo cover (missing the screen part in the middle top)...junked it also...(Is it worth selling for say $20??). Cruised my little town of 4600 people thinking what can I do to BOO next...:-)

Hope you're able to hang in there. I'm not waiting in lines either - my MINI is full and I haven't had to commute. I go back tomorrow, but more than half of the buildings in my school district still don't have power so it's a faculty only affair.

I really haven't been too far from home so tomorrow will be my first time getting 30 miles away - very curious to see what gas lines are like since I'm going to guess that by the end of the week things will be back to normal. Whatever that is.

Where in Jersey are you from? It broke my heart seeing Seaside all torn up.

I grew up just north of Lakehurst, there is a road in Brick (Van Zile Rd.) with my family name on it, and the Jersey Paddler folks are cousins of mine....
