new black headlight rings, I think I'm happy with the chrome that's left. Maybe silver turn signal bulbs and a tint. OK, definitely a tint...

Tinted the side reflectors. 2010 JCW.

Didn't want to black them out and non-reflect, and didn't want to pay $20 for a tint package, so used leftover tint from the windows.

Things you'll need:

Super sharp razor
Credit card (for pushing the tint into the gaps)
Four (4) pieces of 8"x2.5" tint (cut two more for a total of 6, it's fragile stuff).

You don't need to pull the reflector out. Just lay it on, tuck it in, trim it out.

Went to the dealership to get an oil change, fully prepared to pay the $69.95 advertised price since the computer said I had 2000 miles to go and my maintenance warranty expires next week.

When I got there the SA said "whoa you're warranty is just about up, we'll go ahead and get the oil changed at no charge. It's close enough."

So that was awesome and yet again I can't say enough about the above and beyond service I've gotten time and again at East Bay Mini.
Thank you!!

Nice,

Clubman looks good lowered and on factory Black center Web spokes. Front black headlight rings completes the look.

Put in Phillips Extreme Vision bulbs but they don't work all that much better. Definitely whiter and clearer and the brights are amazing but in regular mode the headlights still pretty much suck -_-

Yep, time to get projectors bud. I know what you mean! The halogens are the worst thing on a MINI. I'm getting custom projectors made, put my order in yesterday.

Just bought an '06 Hardtop in kind of rough shape. No maintenance appears to have been done, brakes shot, tires shot, etc.

So far, replaced in the past two days....
plugs/wires
coolant
oil
fuel filter
transmission fluid
PCV

Waiting on the belt tool so I can change out the serpentine belt and the tensioner. Brakes, air filter and shocks are all on the way. Going to busy few weeks. If anyone can think of anything else that I need to do I would appreciate it.

Love the handling on this car, coming from a Miata.

Change the brake fluid and consider SS Brake lines. I would also change the cabin air filter as it is often neglected if not completely forgotten. Good luck and have fun. It sounds like it was in about the same shape mine was in when I got it.

Hi...just joined the form, I have a 2006 cooper s , had a sun roof leak that ended up in the drivers foot well and soaked electrics. Have pretty dry now but have a few codes etc to deal with. While cleaning the pin connector (black) the big one with like fifty pins, I broke off a pin. can we locate and jump the connector?

Forgot about that. Thanks.

Update - the cabin filter was the original one. Pretty gross.

Got mine back from the dealer today. After much trail and error they found(?) the noise. (apparently one of the brake backer plates was damaged). After they re-programed the radio unit, a CEL when on. The water temp sensor was bad. Good thing it happen while at the dealer. Replaced that. H

Have to commend New Country they didn't give on finding the noise even though they dismantled much of the front of the car.

I took my MINI in to the dealer for it's last free annual oil change. I mentioned to them that I've had some non-starts after moving it about my driveway without driving it far. They found the gear selector lever was slightly out of adjustment, causing the car's electronics to not power down after it was parked, this drained the battery slowly.

I don't drive my MINI every day, I sometimes go a week without driving it. This amplified the problem with the power drain. If it were a daily driver, I may not have had a problem. They also suggested that I lock the car when leaving it parked in my garage, because locking the car tells it to go to sleep. They said it also wouldn't hurt to put a float charger on it, like they do for the cars on the showroom floor to keep the batteries topped up when they aren't being driven.

I also bought crossmembers for the factory Clubman roof rails. I figured that the roof rails were useless without the crossmembers.

I test fitted them, they clamp on very securely, I had some trouble taking them off, even with the clamps totally loose!

Dave,

These are the ones you are talking about for the MINI Clubaman w/ Factory roof rails?

Did you unscrew the bolt w/ tool all the way out to unreleased the tension on the grabbing point? After that they do fit a little snug, that way they don't move.

Thanks

Yep, those are the ones! I backed the clamping bolts all the way out and even then they didn't want to release. The instructions said to pull out and up, but they stayed clamped tight. I ended up tapping the bottom of the clamps away from the rail with a block of wood and a small rubber mallet. One light tap and they popped right off. The rubber gripping surface left no marks on the rails at all!

Yea,

They are very gripping with the rubber and being that they are new. Just make sure both sides are loose all they way.

Glad the pop of trick worked for you.

His name is Francis. His work is on instagram. His name on there is Dynamikillu51ons. Look for his Facebook page too. He's a metro Detroit icon for these projectors. Hopefully he can help you. Like I posted earlier this week, I am gonna have mine in two-three weeks, installed and ordered, only $650.

Swapped out my passenger rear sway bar endlink, and no more rattles or clunks! Feels good to have a quiet ride and hearing my BOV and exhaust:-).

Had it towed to the dealer...

...five weeks out of warranty.

So now I feel like a Real British Car Owner again.
