What did you do to your mini today?
I haven't done it yet, but later on I'm gonna go out and all but make out with my Stop Tech's. Was litterally 1.5 seconds away from saying goodbye to Mighty Mouse this morning. Oncoming car lost control, swerved, over-corrected, then shot across into my lane. The car in front of me hit it head on into the passenger side. Thank goodness for my quick reflexes. As I was applying the brakes, I believe I muttered "Stop Tech's, don't fail me now!" And sure enough, Mighty Mouse stopped, no skid, with plenty of room to spare.
Here's a pic: (the green Cavalier in the bushes is the one that lost control, the Corolla is the one I was behind)

nice job on the reflexes...hopefully you don't have to test them like that again
I cannibalized some parts off of a totaled MINI, to replace some failing parts on mine.
They aren't perfect, but the price was way too good to pass up, and they work great! It's too bad some MINI's have their life cut short, but they help others stay on the road, and help some of us keep money in our pockets for future maintanence! It's been about a year and a half, and I still own my dream car! This weekend we'll go down to the south part of Las Vegas, and watch some of her friends do some AutoX, including a Countryman, R56, and a GP!!

Luckily this time it was a owner I got the parts from. I moved to Vegas for Colorado, where there aren't many salvage yards that have any MINI's. Out here though, there are yards within a days drive, here in Las Vegas, or over in SoCal. Always makes my heart hurt a bit to see MINI's in a bad state, and to wonder about their owners.

Speaking of deliveries, I got one yesterday.

Ready for parade laps at Lime Rock on Labor Day!

[QUOTE=Albiecrazy;3577706]Glad things worked out for you and Mighty Mouse. I bet the delivery dude needed to get off his phone.

It was 7:30am, WTH did he have the pizza delivery sign still on the car? Anyway, my guess is that he was definitely distracted, cause nobody drives that fast on that road. Not even me in my MINI.
BTW, just told my wife yesterday that I want a GoPRO Hero2 for xmas. Fingers crossed.

The new style of GoPro mount is way better than the one that I have (1st release). The old ones would vibrate and throw off the stability controll in the camera. That made the picture a little wavy at idle or low RPM/low speed.
Re-did the black Plasti-Dip on my upper grille slats, since I'd done it a fair bit too thin the first time, and little flying pebbles and such nicked it all up. I ended up having to peel off the middle slat and start over due to the nicks.
It shouldn't be a problem now--I used the whole can on just the grille!
The neat thing about the satin finish black on my grille is that it looks *just like* the black plastic trim on the car, so it looks like the factory option that wasn't....
It ties in well with the bonnet scoop being Plasti-Dipped also....

Overdue brake fluid flush done this am. Time to confess that.
Dear MINIster, it's been 3 1/2 years since my last brake fluid flush ...
I put it off 1) will need new pads in 6-12 months 2) irrational fear that a
bleeder screw will be seized or break off (which fortunately didn't happen).
It actually went very easily with a pressure bleeder and a couple liters of
ATE Typ200 and I didn't even have to raise a wheel off the road to get to
the bleeders.

Yeah - my thoughts exactly. I have about 20 that are 10 sizes too small.
Dont know whats been going on with them lately, but I'm not sure I like it. Now you need to pay for an entire allen set, because they dont sell the big ones individually that I have found.
Installed custom made dual layer titanium heat shield, getting ready for custom RAI. Finished modification on air box to accept cone air filter. Need to buy filter and hood duct to complete system
Looks slick. Why the larger down tubes?
At least I found one that's like a Swiss Army knife so it stores away neatly and it was $5 (Kobalt). Tightened it all down and went out for a quick run on my favorite local twisty.
