Maybe the DHL thing is new. When I ordered earlier this year, it took over six weeks to arrive and USPS handled the US end of things.

I don't know which comment are you referring, but normally that issue is solved by buying a new cable... a working one

New cable, still problems

Do I need to run a Laden.bat file? Where does it and the REVTOR.PFL file come from?

When I unzipped the R50.zip in the "Mini Cooper Coding\Datens (v38)" subdirectory, there was no laden.bat file in R50\R50\daten to copy to c:\ncsexper\daten\r50. There was also no REVTOR.PFL file in the profile directory.

When I unzip RR1, there is a LADEN.BAT file in its daten subdirectory and it only differs (from laden.bat in R56) in the first line. It also puts a REVTOR.PFL file in the profile subdirectory.

So I ordered the ecutools cable and it came DHL in 3 days.

HELP! I am on my third laptop and millionth hour of trying to get this working.

As a test, I edited the LADEN.BAT file to have R50 on the first line and ran that. I then copied the REVTOR.PFL file generated by the RR1 zip file to NCSEXPER\PFL and when I ran NCS expert, it went OK until I ran F3 where I chose R50 and then it said my ECU choices were EWS or KMB and no CAS option. I stopped there.

Used alternate for CAS and it worked

OK, so I got tired of waiting and since CAS wasn't an option, I used the first choice (EWS?) and kept going. It worked like it was supposed to so I reprogrammed the airbags (OC3 nicht_active), cleared the codes, and now the light is off. I hope this wasn't a mistake but it seems OK.

I believe that you are following instructions for a R56. CAS (and FRM) contains the vehicle order information for an R56. For a R50 it seems like it's different as you found out. It doesn't really matter as long as it can read the vehicle order, if you selected the wrong module it would just give an error, you wouldn't actually harm anything. You made no mistake. code on

So I read this whole thread and I am still confused..

I have a 2012 JCW and 2013 JCW I want to code. I have a new laptop that I use for work and such, and it is running windows 7 professional 64-bit.

Will I have to run a windows XP VM?

I've downloaded these files:
Mini Cooper Coding.rar
SP-V45-R56.rar
ncsdummy.zip
Mini_R56_Code.xlsx

Do I need BMW Standard Tools 2.12 or to update EDIABAS? If so, what is the newest version and does someone have a link?

This seems to be the cable I need.. am I right?

Buy the cable from ecutools.com linked in the first thread.

Similar Question

I have a MCS 13. I tried running the NCSExpert and it doesn't like Win7 64b, even after setting the properties to WinXP SP2 on the setup.exe.

Provided I can eventually get it to work, are there updated DATENS for the MCS13?

My understanding is that V50 datens are the most current and will work with 2013 cars.

Now just need to see if I can get the program to run in WIN7 64

This is driving my crazy! I've re-installed everything 4+ times and am still getting the "faulty vin" error code. I purchased the cable shown in the original post. I have version 51.2 Datens and a '13 Cooper S. Im also running Win XP on VirtualBox for Mac. INPA shows Battery and Ignition as on. Any ideas?

I almost have the same setup as you. I have a 2013S with Datens 49something BUT running Window 7 64bit bootcamped on a MacBook Pro. Is INPA running fine?

INPA seems to be running perfectly fine. If the car is turned on, it shows battery on, ignition on, if i turn the car off it shows battery on, ignition off.
The only reason I decided Win XP was to try to eliminate as many possible problems as I could. I didnt want to Bootcamp because the first time I dinnt allow enough HD space, VirtualBox will let me shut down the machine and allow more space and or RAM.

Also, we have more than just the same setup, our cars are almost twins, mine is Lightning Blue, White Top/Stripes and LED halo fogs, only I have the conical spokes.

I can't remember but the file I downloaded is called "R56_coding_package.zip". Let me know if you can't find it.

Im having problems finding that exact file. Could you send me a link to it or even email it to me? I thought I had found a newer version, deleted everything and started over again, but now I'm getting invalid chassis error.

So much trouble for just a few things, but i know after it will be so much better.

I'll post a link to my google drive (give me a few hours).

It can be a PITA to get working but once you do it's kind of worth it.
