Thanks. Wish I could find the same cable on Amazon. Not sure how long the shipping takes from China!

I had the same concern but for me it took about 3 days or so. I was amazed. I think it came DHL.

Bit of an off topic question, but I've got NCSExpert working and have done coding on three different cars, but how can I get INPA working for some basic diagnostic work on the cars?

Sold. Better to go the safe route!

Still would like to know if it is possible to connect with a KIWI 2 Wifi?

I need help help. I have successfully added $655 (satellite radio) to my vehicle order string (both CAS an FRM) as confirmed by looking at the fa.trc file.

Next, the instructions say to default the vehicle (at least the RAD2).

1.) How do you default the vehicle? And do you have to recode previous changes (not really a big deal - I wrote it all down)

2.) How do you default individual modules?

3.) I can't read my RAD2 module it has ALWAYS given an error, both before the FA changes and after. I'm hesitant on defaulting the module because I don't have a backup. Nw looking at the trc file from the read, it does put out something but heck if I know if it's complete.

Basically the translated error states that it cannot connect to RAD2 or that RAD2 does not respond. Now I have ALWAYS done this with the radio off - maybe could that be the problem hmmm...

FYI - I'm using DATENS 49.4 which have alway worked flawlessly.

Don't know for sure, but you would probably have to default each module. Changes made in any defaulted module would need to be recoded.

Default a module by writing a BLANK FSW_PSW.MAN file. Didn't you have to do this exact thing to CAS and FRM? My car did not know my rear fog was there until I defaulted CAS and FRM, only then did 5AA show up in fa.TRC

I have the same problem with my 2RAD and DSC. I just wanted to read ALL of my modules and back them up. Those two popped an error. I appeared to have a valid TRC, but I didn't keep them. If it were me, I don't think I would default it. I would look for an experienced BMW/MINI shop or a pro coder.

This may be a dumb question but when doing this all correctly would this void any of the warranties? I didnt think about this till after purchasing the cable.

It don't believe that it will void warranties but they will charge you to fix anything that you miscoded. For example if you brick your car and they need to reflash then it will cost you. If a module fries then that's another story. It could go either way...

I'm curious about how much damage someone has done?

This weekend I rewrote the VO to both CAS and FRM modules. Next I need to default the two so hopefully it will show up on the radio. If that doesn't work I might have to "process the car" or do a SG_RESET (That's kind of scary for a noob)

I'm having trouble reading the 2RAD module without getting an error (this is common). But after inspecting the output of the module it looks like the SDARS is aktiv so I think just changing the VO and defaulting will do it if the hardware it there. Now this is purely speculation.

I'm planning on doing this tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. I have to plan correctly because the car is my DD so I only do coding when I don't have anything planned early the next morning in case I brick it and need to get it towed.

XM Update:

Not much of one. I've changed the VO with $655 (This is the correct code right?) and defaulted both the CAS and FRM. I know the default worked because I had to recode the changes I had previously made in the FRM module. I think the VO worked by looking at the fa.trc file.

I still can't successfully access the 2RAD module without an error. I did attempt to default the 2RAD but I received an error so I don't know if it worked or not.

hmmmm.... I'm going to still work on it. There is some stuff on the BMW forums.

Anyone with ideas?

I should order the rear toggle and VO the rear fog lights that would be a good check on my VO/defaulting process.

XM/Sirius Satellite update:

Unfortunately for MY2010 and newer NCS Expert cannot be used to enable satellite radio. You need a FSC code from BMW. There are ways to "pirate" this but it looks pretty in-depth and not worth the hassle.

I have installed everything and set it up with the instructions but when I try to open NCS it keeps giving me an error. "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 or x64 version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." Ive tried running it in compatibility mode and it does not change. What have I done wrong?

Did you get it working?

If you let me know what operating system you're running and what version of the program you're installing I might be able to help. It sounds like you have a 32bit/64bit conflict.

FWIW I installed it on Windows 7 64bit

Anyone want to take a stab at this before I head to bmwcoding...trying to code in satellite radio to the 2RAD and I keep getting error in CABD, COAPI-2041: wrong ecu coding index, A-E65R: CODIERINDEX = 34h

Using v38 datens. Should I update the datens to a later version?

And I believe the problem is the cable. The radio doesn't work with DCAN.

Definitely update datens first.

I'll try updating the datens first however v38 is the only one i've been able to get to work. Do you know what kind of cable I need to get it to read the radio?

I tried really hard to get my sat radio to work but it turns out you can't with NCS Expert for My2010 and newer.

I could also never read my 2RAD module and in my travels through the various BMW forums it was in there someone posted about the DCAN incompatiblity. They spoke of another standard but I can't remember the name. I'm suspect if this is the case though.

I'm thinking....You shouldn't have to access 2RAD to enable sat radio for a 2008. Just change your VO. Add $655 and remove $693. Then default CAS and FRM.

What do you mean by default? I added the $655 and removed $693 and processed ECU and changed job and then execute. Am I missing something?

That's how I do it. I wonder if having a 2012 radio in my mini has something to do with it? Might end up going to my local mini shop and see if they will touch it.
