The M62 is an interesting concept. It has potential and I'm curious to see what that may flesh into but it's still only been a few months.

Why is reporting torque gains an issue? It's just plain stupid to complain that no HP figures are being mentioned, only torque. WTF???

So much whining about pricing with people just pulling figures out of their a$$ it's ridiculous.

It'll work or it won't. People will buy it or they won't. It'll ship or it won't.

If you want to pi&& about speculation, play the stock market.

OMG with an additional 30-50 lbft increase... My MINI will be a GIANTs killer!!
Keep up with the good work guys! Have been following this thread since July silently and watching! HEHE!
Actually would be great if it give 50 lbft and 50 WHP~ HAHA! But then my car is bone stock compare to you guys~ Only CAI, Header + exhaust, pulley next week, unichip.
With the Torque increase, the MCS will be much more fun/easy to drive, since we don't have much torque, stock. The ability for my friend's MCS to pull in 6th gear still amazes me, and he only have a 15%+2% pulley reduction! think about another 30lbft~
IMO, the TC kits are great~ but not my cup of tea, I bought the MCS because well it was a MINI, and it was SCed! Not many cars with SC these days, certainly none that is this affordable! TCing... ya... I still get to keep my SC, but it would feel more like a turbocharged car than a SC car right?
Seems like most of the solution these days for high hp are more cylinders (think S4, next M3, C43->C55) or turbos (335i, STI)... and then we find the Superchargers with 80k+ AMG's Autobahn cruisers~
The TC might (MIGHT) be more efficient and bang for buck, but it will never take the place of the pure-SCed car in my heart~ So you guys have my $3500!

as soon as I can afford it... now since I made since a long and nice comment... how about a 50% discount? oh PLSPLS PRETTY PLS!

You could have said "that" instead.

There was the same kind of speculation when Judson anounced a kit in the 60s ( could have been late 50s ). There was no internet to pose these kinds of questions back then. Never the less people did buy these kits & the word got around, some good, some not so good. The hope to make big gains on a P1800 were some what dashed, while close to 25hp could be gained on an AH 998 Sprite. What is known, the M62 can deliver.
DMH makes a good point, most of the old school "Hot Rodders" would go after the weakest point & start there. This is not necessarly written in stone & may never apply to some. A well prepaired kit could be installed by a good DYI with a realtively good result, not optimal, but good. Results will vary from car to car, location to location. ( so ). Numbers are just numbers & the cost of the kit is the bottom line for how popular the M62 will be.

In the mean time - This:

DMH has a good point and his method is sound, but that does not mean that there is not good power to be found by not going all out to wring every last bit of power out of the M62. As I understand it, DDM/M7 are working to establish where the bottlenecks are and what the best pulley combinations are for multiple applications/combinations of mods.

Yes, it is a very nice ride. I had the pleasure of seeing it this summer, and can't wait till it gets back, and I can catch a ride in it with the '62

So when and where?

I've came to this late - and read the madness that ensued. Lets get to the chase. Is there an ETA? And realisiticly what are the gains?

(Oh and I'm finally glad to see some R&D taking place on the East Coast! Those people in Cali. don't understand humidity!)

I spoke with Dave this morning and things are moving well..... a couple of small bumps removed (logistics) additionally, this is just not a matter of fabricating a kit this has to be very well documented for kit numbers 50 -?... every bolt etc..... pass the mustard and stay tuned

I spoke with Randy about a week ago and the exhaust is ready for production....it is only a matter of allocating resources

I spoke with Dave last night and the second car is just about done. He was planning on working all night.

I spoke with Peter who is anxiously awaiting his kit.....

I drove around last night with a huge grin on my face.... this car is really a kick to drive......

I keep saying and NO ONE has bothered.... come to Atlanta and I will give you the "tour"..... if you are really interested, (I know I would) this is not a big deal.....

I really have to agree with this statement - the soul of the MINI is the supercharger (especially with the Goodyear Gatorback belt; the whine is only to be experienced).

Did you get massive power gains? I had 1 on my 60 Sprite. It worked. I learned a ton about bearings & rods while owning this car, with the blower.

I may take you up on that offer on my way back from Florida in December. I spoke with DMH today about the project that I told you about and will be visiting him in December to start the process, phase one will be the leak down test and a before dyno, with 150K on the motor have to make sure bottom end is still OK
