Drivetrain M62 SC on the MINI is reality
be nice to know how much can be gotten from the tune alone compared to the 62 with tune. my opinion is the apexi tune and a 15% can get you close to 200whp with the M45. that can be done for around 1k$
I have witnessed this my self... Where is EMINI?
the TQ is the real benefit IMO...
Yo
You're right. That's the number we really need to see.

It is a broad flat curve..... at some point we will release these graphs..... not trying to be evasive or cute here.... the additional systems are getting closer and those graphs will be what you see first.....
Well, it all falls under M7 with DDM developing & producing. All the betas are in either of those shops and all information gained is shared between the two as they are in full cooperation on this project.

MINIBLU is a beta
My car, MINIBLU, is one of the 4 betas that Spider spoke about. I suspect my car will be on the lower end of the beta testers. My situation is a bit different. Due to a faulty install of a pully the nose of my SC was bad. So I had to replace the SC, or at least the nose. I am patiently waiting on Dave at DDM to complete MINIBLU.
However, I went with the M62 to give me greater range of power without going to a TC. As Spider mentioned earlier there are some aches and pains to be expected when testing and developing a new product.
I look forward to the new tq numbers. Like Dave I want that boost in low end jump.
Once I have MINIBLU back I'll be glad to share my experience.
Thanks
Jack

Talked with Dave last night with another guesstimate that it'll be done by tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it. More than likely I won't see Icarus until Saturday. Many parts coming together for a small install party at DDM with Waylen at the helm. I think a couple of others are getting CAI & RSB's? CSS kit (getting painted tomorrow) & BBK get put on Icarus in addition. Gotta be able to stop all that power and look good doing it you know.
I'm leaving the release of numbers up to Peter since it is M7's product announcement. I have not seen nor heard of any yet.

I will be in Greenville on Sat and the Atlanta Minis event on Sunday for those who are interested..... pm me for my cell number if you want to get together
I just posted this on the Helix 62 thread.....
I just got back from DDM chasing a few nagging issues and even though this is the Helix thread it seems to have turned into a generic 62 thread..... it seems that the nagging issues have more to do with the age of my car 62K mi. rather than the 62SC....... there were some codes that had to be sorted and they seem to be gone......since I am the only person who has one of these ... at least for now.... I can tell you you will not see turbo numbers.... the power is very linear and smooth and it "happens" at a very low rpm ........ you will probably achieve more TQ than whp and that is what the Mini really lacks.... the cost of the kit seems to be $3500 and I believe that this is with the pulley..... the second car should be delivered this week and there are three more plus the M7 car in the "q".... whether or not the price will be worth it to you is something for each individual to decide.... this is not a bang for the buck mod but rather just a "bang".... it is not cheap but it definately transforms the car..... Waylan, Matt, Dave and I have been discussing the 05, 06 gearbox for my car and we decided it would not really be that beneficial.... 1st would be useless and second is questionable..... the torque would burn a lot of rubber....... I have no regrets about a 62 over a turbo..... I am one who would not do a turbo for this car so really the SC upgrade was it or nothing.....for many reasons probably some erroneous....
One more thing..... my clutch is and has been slipping and I need a new one some recent acceleration tests were not very accurate and I am looking forward to a quaiffe /UUC FW-clutch combo...... I have no reservations about recomending the 62 as a way to "upgrade" your car..... the vendor is your choice..... there are some quality people developing..... I have thought of changing my handle to "62 guy" from SpiderX but no I'll still be SpiderX

I know you and you're not 62!
But me, on the other hand, ummm...
what would you have me say...... the numbers?
the car runs great... i was with my GF last night who has not been in the car in months and she comented about how "good" it was running..." is this what yoiu did?"
clutch is fine.... we made about 40-50 lbs of torque
Spillman, I was hoping to see you on Saturday... Camel, come for a visit.... flights from the west coast are cheap into Atlanta....
my car is not a secret.... I was at the DDM/Waymotorwoks mod party in Greenville on Sat and the Fall Folliage run in Chattanooga TN on Sunday..... interacting with as many Mini people as possible..... I have extended an open invitation to anyone who wants to take the time to come to Atlanta......
The release of numbers will come from Dave and Peter..... there is an almost stock Cabrio that is near completion..... and two more after that....at the shop as we speak.....
The car is very strong and the power modulates incredibly well.....

clutch is fine.... the 62 made about 40-50 lbs of torque depending on which dyno run you like (our numbers are nothing like Spillmans.... he is to be congratulated....hats off to you my friend)

Do you have anything of substance to add to this discussion or are you only going to sit back and take potshots?
Thanks for the updates, Bob.
Thanks for the updates, Bob.
I think anyone who wanted to be an early adopter on a kit with all the trimings that will run $3500+ would spend 1/10 of that to come to Atlanta to check out a finished car... but that is just me...
when I said my clutch is fine I should say that it is holding but in need of change..... so I am babying the car a bit..... there are some interesting new ideas in the "works" that are being looked into and I may be doing something new to my drivetrain..... more later if/when it develops.... that is why I am not putting in a new clutch yet.... it is such a job to get to the gearbox that I only want to go there once....I am telling you this so that you understand why I am not putting in a new clutch now..... not to tease you....
