Better be ready to have your fake "happy face" on if it isn't the JB+.

Canada and US use the same octane rating system.

When you say 100% what do you mean? 0600??? If so is this because fuel mixture or have you ran it on basic 93 octane w/10% ethanol???

I'm at 100% on the dial as well, 70% 93 and 30% E85 is my mixture and I believe MarioKart is running that as well. Runs great, mines an S!

Do you do that mixture at every fillup? Curious what the long term effects will be.

Yep every fill-up and no adverse side effects that I've noticed yet running this way since June I guess.

I'm also at 100% and have an S. I have the basic bolt on modifications, Aquamist HFS-3 and I run 100 octane race gas. I just bumped the dial up to 100% so it is still adapting but everything so far is in the green.

For those running at 100%, anyone have 1/4 mile ET or 0-60/0-100 times?

My guess is approximately 2.64 gallons (20%) of E85 and the rest is 93 or 91 on every fill up to get the 30/70 ratio.

Wanted to try some e85 even made a spreadsheet to calculate how much E85 to add. After seeing some news reports on E15 and phase separation I chickened out. The news might just be exaggerating but now just going to wait and see.

There's really no need to run 100 octane race gas.

The meth alone will put you close to 100octane.

.....just trying to save you some money.

I was just being on the safe side since I live in Cali and there's only 91 octane.

Yea I hear you on that. I'm in Cali myself.

If you can run safely with 91 and meth, you can save some money on that 100 race gas.

You can checking timing while in stock form with 91 and straight methanol. If timing is maxed out then the JB+ at 50% should be good.
Just keep making incremental change to observe your timing. If all is still well at 100% then you're good to go.

Is your nozzle before or after the intake temp sensor?

I'll try that once I'm back from visiting my parents for the thanksgiving holiday.

It's before the intake temp sensor.
I'm running the .8 nozzle with 100% meth.

Hey guys. Was thinking about using this intercooler with the jb+ I know its not an Alta or Forge intercooler but looks very similar. I would think it would still be much better than the factory one. Anyone else running this intercooler with the JB+ ?

It does "look" similar and may perform fine. Most likely it's a Chinese made product. The only thing i would say is installation is a full day job and this is an unknown entity. You could save a few hundred bucks but if it doesn't fit right or hold up well this savings could be eliminated very quickly with the labor required to reinstall another unit. There is no top tab mount like on the Forge but I don't think that's really essential. Also unknown would be the gauge (thickness) of aluminum sheeting used in the construction. 6061-T6 is a good alloy for the application that is highly corrosion resistant. It's used frequently for bicycle frames and boat hulls etc. I know this as I was in the metals industry for many years.

I can speak to the Forge product. I was impressed with its build quality and it fit right in. On my '13 I had to remove the crash bumper to install it but it reinstalled with no clearance issues. So far my highest IAT has been about 23 deg F over ambient on 17.5 psi. Return to ambient takes about 20 seconds or so at highway speeds. I'm sure ALTA and Helix probably perform similarly.

Couple quick questions NewCooper:

Where do you purchase the methanol?
What does it cost/gallon?
How long does a gallon last?
How difficult was the installation of the Aquamist?
What do you do when you bring it in for service (i.e. to protect your warranty?)

BTW thanks again for recommendation on the FMIC.

After looking around it looks like these guys are selling that exact intercooler. It seems like they actually have some data on the intake temps for it also. Not really a fan of the way they added the fans to the front though.

+1 on the forge. In my '11 r55 I'm usually a couple degrees over or at ambient when cruising around. Super clean welds and a very nice piece to look at to boot.
