3 gallons of E85 and 10 gallons of 91 and I turn up the JB+ to 100%. Actually, it's always at 100% 😉😉

I don't think so..... but then I've never gone out of my way to look for it, either.

I have the JB+ installed on my '13 JCW. I'm getting a CEL which I can clear with the CAN tool, but can't figure out how to actually read the code.
Any advice ?

Thanks

you need an OBD2 code reader......you can buy them at any autoparts stores for ~$60-100......or you can use a scan gauge or a tablet running the Torq app.

or you can take it up to autozone and have them read the code for you ( i think they do this for free)

since you are running a JCW, did you turn the POT in the JB+ down a notch?

you can read it with the can tool, but you prob knew that already. check out this link:

http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20522

the same functions/readings apply to our N18s. the code reads out as hexidecimal: 0-9 and A-F.

Thanks...yes I turned the pot down to 30% per Terry's recommendation. I tried to read the code with the CAN tool but was having difficulty...I was able to clear the code though.

Thanks

The JB+ has been good to me and my MINI a notch back, and today, I finally got my SG2 installed so I decided to try a new setting tonight and did a few pulls around the neighborhood.

JB+ @12 o'clock
Outside temp 35 deg F
3rd gear pull from 20-80mph
Boost max=16.0 per SG2

Per MINI Connected gauges
HP=211
Torque=199

I was losing traction each time I mashed the gas pedal and the steering wheel definitely likes to fight me a little from keeping straight.
I let off the gas after 5,500 rpms as I didn't want to go any faster on the street I was at and push my luck (Cops like to patrol here from time to time because people use this road to speed a lot of times at night lol).

I'm not really sure how accurate the gauges on MINI Connected are, but I was hoping I'd see higher numbers. My butt dyno tells me that there was a stronger pull at the new setting though. It was also kind of difficult watching the SG2 on the left of the tach, and the Nav screen on the right so I might have missed the peak numbers (kind of wishful thinking). I have seen up to 211 hp/206 tq even when I was @ 11 o'clock before I got my SG2, and on the way home from work saw 16.3 boost when the temperature was 56
Deg F.

The good news is no CEL lit up. I will probably keep it at this setting since I have not found any E85 gas stations unless I drive an hour away from home. I am considering getting a Cravenspeed flexpod and mounting the SG2 on the right of the tach so it's closer to the Nav screen and should be a little easier to keep track of all the gauges. And when I get the chance, I will mount my GoPro in the cabin and be able to watch all the gauges together working.

I'm pretty sure the Connected Display won't display over 211ish. Sent from my iPhone using NAMotoring

Any factory dash gauges should report close to OEM power figures, with minimal change from the JB+, because the DME is not aware its making extra horsepower.

So you're saying any factory gauge will be inaccurate, Terry? I suppose only a dyno will get the true readings then.

There's a disclosure about the driving entertainment app through the phone.....along the lines of, if you add any aftermarket parts that add power, the program will not display the gains as it has preset parameters.

Ah, thanks for that info NCF! I will say though that before the JB+, I was unable to get above 200 hp readings on MINI Connected. It was mostly 192hp and one time 198hp for the short time after break-in period. Maybe I wasn't activating overboost correctly? Or the gauges tend to read low?

Oh, you will.

On a side note, I finally located an E85 station near-ish to me. How much E85 should/could I mix into my 91 to safely turn up the JB+ on an MCS?

MarioKart (a few post previously) is doing 10 gal regular and 3 gal E85. You want less than 30% ethanol.

I noticed, but I thought he could turn his up to max because he has a modded GP.

I have a lowly stock MCS. Could I still run 30% Ethanol and turn it up to max? Or is something like 3 or 4 o'clock a wiser choice?

Stupid question alert! How do we adjust the jb+? I didn't fiddle with it when I got it. I just popped it in.

And so a 30%e85 mix with 91 octane will allow for a higher bump in the jb+?

Thanks for any info.

Open the box there is a dial:

I have it set at 1 o'clock or the 6 position. The default is noon or 5.

Just a note ClubmanRob! Do NOT try twisting the actual capacitor thing-y. It's only the dial inside that moves.
