Drivetrain Burger Motorsports (BMS) Tune(s)
Did some runs with E85, timing ramped up as I went through the rev range, maxing out at 9 degrees.
This is the JB+ @ 100%
Did runs with the meth off/on. There is a notable difference with the system on....feels like a shot of NOS lol.
With the system off, my intake temps went up, with it on, they dropped like a rock.
AFR was 12 at the top of 2 pulls.
So for now, I'm stumped why I can't just run methanol.
Merry Christmas folks!

The nozzle has been moved, so the car now picks up the cooler air charge. These cars are highly effective at adjusting the fuel trims to meth, it's pretty awesome. You can throw as much as you want and it always adjusts. Tons of guys running 100% meth. Methanol actually has a bigger kick than E85, more to be gained with it. But that's not to say E85 is no good, it's good as well. It'll come down to what you tune to run...which we don't have yet lol. It's just weird that the timing is constantly at zero with the current JB plus settings. I have emailed Terry in the past. Said my kit might not be spraying right...but it is lol. Was hoping to see if any other member was just using methanol and the JB+. Looks like most guys are opting for the E85, more convenient I guess. Or those octane boosters.
Running the Aquamist HFS-4. It's a very good system.
It's so customizable, you can't literally have it where the system will not turn on at all until you go WOT.
Or you can have it trigger as soon as you get into boost. It runs off both IDC and boost, it's the top offering from Aquamist at the moment.
Treat yourself, I'm sure you deserve it!

Did you do the install yourself? Unfortunately there is nobody locally I would trust or want to pay for the install but myself. I have reviewed the install guide numerous times and it does not seem hard but this is not something you want to take a chance with.
I'm currently running 30%E85 with 91 pump gas and 100% meth with the .8mm nozzle from Aquamist with the Aquamist HFS-3 kit. I also have a Akrapovic dp, Forge inter cooler, VIP cat back exhaust, Alta "Stiffy" spring and a K&N drop in panel filter. (Idk how some of the things relate but that's my whole list of mods) My timing is being advanced 9-10 degrees. Ambient temps were 14 degrees Celsius and intake temps were 10 degrees at the end of a fourth gear pull.

I had a fellow member, now friend do the install since I wasn't too confident the first time around. It took him a few hours (7?) to do it, but the heat in the garage was beating him up lol.
I have since done an install for my cousin, and I can say it's not too difficult, it's just wire management. Which means it can be a bit time consuming, so be sure to set up an entire day to do it your first time. Routing the wires took way longer then actually tapping the ECU connectors.
Just have to take your time the first time. The kits are very install friendly. It helps that RMW worked very closely with Jeff Howerton to develop a kit specifically for R53's and R56's.
I can say, if a shop quotes you more then 300 out the door, it would be a bit steep considering that's on top of what you pay for the Aquamist Kit.

So I just did a couple of runs with my new reader and according to it, I put out 242hp and 221lb-ft in a 3rd gear run. Are these numbers inflated or how should i look at these numbers? A Tesla Model S only the 60kw version tried hanging with me but I pulled away from him several times.

242 sounds a touch high to me

I'm sorry, I actually pulled 248hp, 221tq. I have the JB+ on default setting, with a 30% blend of Ethanol/93 Premium. Car is stock under the hood besides that. I was getting intake temps at only 46ºF. My phone for some reason won't let me log back onto the NAM app, I keep getting a parse error, but when i can reconnect, I'll post the screenshot of the max HP run. I was only pushing 13lbs of boost though, according to scanner.

Are these supposed to be flywheel numbers?

You know I don't know. It just said max hp run and max tq run. I'm guessing it's flywheel since the reader isn't a dyno but I'm not sure 100%.

are you sure the program you are running is properly calibrated?
i know on both my torque app and Dash command, my HP reads at 150 MAX.....and ive got my JB+ @ 100%......

with the JB+ on its stock setting on a Cooper S with no other supporting mods, should be putting out ~200-210HP......regardless of what fuel you are running. are you sure the program you are running is properly calibrated? i know on both my torque app and Dash command, my HP reads at 150 MAX.....and ive got my JB+ @ 100%......
I'm not sure how exactly you mean calibrated. If you're only putting out 150 maybe yours isn't running correctly.
im assuming if those are not properly input that the HP numbers will be off.
i know my apps are working correctly because all of my other readings are spot on, just my HP and Torque numbers are suspect.
the only true way to know what HP numbers you are putting down is to use a DYNO, and even those can be spotty.
so far as im able to gather, the programs estimate HP by calculating a bunch of measured variables ( im assuming its using airflow, engine load, fuel consumption, and weight)...on most programs there is a 'vehicle setup' where you enter your vehicle specifics such as weight. im assuming if those are not properly input that the HP numbers will be off. i know my apps are working correctly because all of my other readings are spot on, just my HP and Torque numbers are suspect. the only true way to know what HP numbers you are putting down is to use a DYNO, and even those can be spotty.
But a rich mixture needs more timing to complete the burn, also produces less heat.
Leaner ratios require less timing but produce more heat.
Next tank will be 91 and meth only. I'll play with different ratios and see if anything changes. I'll down size to the .6mm as well.
Otherwise I may need to look for a custom solution, timing might have to be manually advanced to accommodate the methanol and richer AFR's.
It can. Just have to mix some distilled water. I could try the smallest jet in the kit, .6mm.
