Help! I just got a used AP and followed the instructions from Perin Performance.

1. Used the Accessport Manager software to update the Accessport to the latest firmware (AP-MIN-001 v1.6.7.1-7253).
2. Plugged in the AP to my 2009 MCS convertible.
3. Watched it detect my car as a "Mini H810B"
4. Put the key in the ignition and made sure the dashboard lit up...
5. Proceeded to select a Stage 1 map (ended up trying two of them, a 91 and a 92 TPS)
6. Watched it complete the Download process
7. And then every time it would error out after completing the download.

This is the error:

ECU Comms
Cannot communicate with vehicle. Please verify cable is plugged in securely, then turn ignition key "OFF" and then "ON" and try again.

Needless to say I tried this several times and made darn sure the cable was plugged in all the way and that the unit and cable were undisturbed during the process.

It should work perfectly

When the dashboard 'lit up', you mean that you hit the start key without putting in the clutch or hitting the brake, right? Turning the car 'on' except for the engine running is what you want. Daytime running lights on, radio on, HVAC on.

If this is what you had, then I can't help...........

Mike

Yes folks all of you are correct. Nubi mistake. I never realized the car wasn't actually on until you hit that damn start button without pushing in the clutch or brake. It is working as advertised.

On another note, the folks at Alta were really nice to me just now. I hit them up on their chat (via their website) and they immediately passed me over to a tech. Granted they said that they could help depending on my issue, but man they were fast. It took sixty seconds. I'm sure that doesn't always happen, but it shows they are doing their best to support their products (even if discontinued).

THANKS ALTA and thanks to the community.

I do the same thing everytime I flash or unflash it - like yesterday.

On that note, I am putting my AP up for sale for $500 (shipping included) if anyone is interested. I have to sell my MINI JCW for work reasons.... ....let me know if anyone is interested. PM me with questions. FS link here.

Thanks!
Todd

I just bought a used AP from a forum member but am getting an error when trying to install. I get "new vehicle ROM" It says that a new vehicle ROM has been detected and to contact tech support to have my ROM added for support.

Any idea how to correct this?

contact Alta, and give them a log that you made with the AP, they can add your rom. also you can try to do the beta firmware upgrade before you contact them, it may solve the issue. GL ,i had the same issue, but they were good and worked thru it.

So it says it doesn't work with any 2012+ countryman but does that mean that it definitely works with a 2011? Any one with experience?

If you have a Countryman it will not work, it is for the N14 engine only.

I want to buy an accessport badly. But I'm worried the support will stop or the unit will fail eventually.

Later,
Aaron

Support basically has stopped per ALTA. Check out Evolve for a N14 tune that is being supported.

Give us a call and we can get the screen replaced through COBB, thanks!

Hey guys - does the tune have any effect on traction control? Ever since I moved to Stage 2, I feel my traction control is barely alive. The tires spin in the rain and the traction light never comes on. Would that have anything to do with the tune? I can't figure out what would be the issue. I drove in snow this morning and my tires slipped and spun and the traction light didn't come on at all.

as far as i can tell the tune affects the torque so much the stock esp system has trouble coping, i went back to stock for winter blues, and will put the stage back on when this crap is all gone. Its not entirely a bad problem to have lol

not sure if this helps, but mine says AP-MIN-001 v1.6.5.0-6072 (INSTALLED). ECU is H910B. I haven't updated in months, it says there is a new firmware but i don't see the need to update yet.

Quick question. Updated my AP, never installed yet, and I was looking through the maps and noticed that in the details they all say "MCS Auto tranny with H910B ECU." I bought this AP used, and plan on using it on my 2012 JCW Coupe with a manual transmission.

I won't be installing this in my car until the Spring when it comes out of storage, but will these maps work on my car? If not where do I get the proper maps from?

Thanks!

Thought it didn't work with 2012+. Isn't that an N18 engine?
