Ken... .... all those times you said, "I'm going out motoring"... you were just messing with us, weren't you. You sly dog, you were detailing and you didn't want us to know just how terribly OCD you really are !!

hahaha. i only put about 5500miles per year. and my MCS
shows rock impact points from motoring HARD on some of those
runs. my car is no show car, that's for sure.

I am actually out in Sedona AZ right now and the one thing its missing is a cabrio!!! Motoring back in the redrock country would be fantastic! Your car wouldnt get too dirty here either since it doesnt rain much.

why would i be complaining about my broken a/c and intermittent
whistle noises at expressway speeds then? i do motor my MCS,
not just all the time.

went out motoring in my FitS today (last day of my 4day weekend ) in
the rain. came home and it was sunny so washed it again.

so i got this asian neighbor across the street where they let their 5yr
old walk all over them. this kid parked his bicycle in the visitor
parking lot taking up a space so i asked the kid nicely to move the
bike cause it shouldn't be there. it's for cars. he comes back yelling
at me 'no! im using the space right now!' wth is going
on here? my son would NEVER talk like that to adults especially
neighbors. i was about to go over there and talk to him close up
but then realized not my problem. we'll just ignore the kid when
my kids and i are out there with our cool toys.

im getting sick and tired of these 3rd world people in my neighborhood.
they're really ruining it for the rest of us. at least one neighbor moved
out about a week ago. there are 2-3 more families like
this... hope they foreclose soon.

did some maintenance repairs on our wooden deck in the backyard. which
consisted of drilling 80+ holes and bolting in new #8x1.75" screws.

my 9.6v ryobi battery died after drilling maybe 20 holes.
my milwaukee 18v kept going and going and going.

it was hot outside... no shade. drank a lot of water...even more so
than when i was detailing.

You don't bolt screws, you screw them in. If your putting in new screws why are you drilling? If your putting some bolts that need drilling, why are you using screws? Either way, any 18v will drill/screw circles over any 9.6v

lotsie- long day today for you again, huh? poor lotsie.

the decorative verticle rail pieces needed to be screwed in since the
long staples the manufacturer used at the top were starting to back
out after 8yrs. just a precautionary measure before one of my kids
decides to push on the verticle railing and potentially fall through it.

the verticle decorative pieces are only 1.25" wide with the wood's lines going
the length of the piece which can possibly cause it to split without prior
drilling especially because i had to screw it on about 1.5" from the end
of the piece.

not exactly the same, but it's similar to this design. the bottoms
are attached to the floor of the deck with large nails and they are
solidly on there. it's only the tops that were coming loose.

Oh now I see, you were working on railings, not decking, clear as mud now

I had a good day, by the by. Getting more responsibilities at work, as they learn what I know how to do. Re-rigged a green screen, after I figured out how to do it in the studio. Then, back at the shop, built some add-on cabinets after I figured out how to build them.

I would consider screws in the bottom also, as kids, or anyone putting pressure on the verticals will also load weight to the bottom. Just me being a carpenter.

yah, i was thinking about doing that as well since i have about 4"
space between the 2 nails they put in at the bottoms.

... but i ran out of screws. hahahahaha...

I've noticed that Ken does not like bugs.

I'm interested in this extactor tool. Any recommendations? I haven't needed one yet, but I may need one soon as I start a few projects at home.

yah, i have enough things bugging me in my life, one less bug
is highly appreciated.

i use the craftsman extractors. they use some strong metals on
the bit. i have the screw head extractors and also the
nut extractors.

here's the screw extractor...

here's the nut/bolt extractor...

I need a set of both. But I'm going to wait till after we get back from the Canada trip. I have a few tool boxes still up there, and I can now bring tools down here, so will see what I have in them.

my new wheelset arrived at work and took them home. rolled them in
my garage. didnt have time to unpack them. shall do so
tonight.

the 205/45/17 DunlopSportMaxx i got on there are pretty darn wide...
much wider than i anticipated. i am hoping that with the
shorter sidewall vs my 215/45/17's it doesnt rub too bad. my current
set rubs slightly on occasion.

Ordered new bonnet stripes No detailing on the Cabrio for a bit.

Then you know who won't have to do it twice.

Well you gotta have it de-swirled before you put stripes on so you need to have Mark polish it now. Then since it has no protection you should ask him to throw a little carnuaba on it to hold it over till the stripes arrive. Then just a quick wipe down with Windex or alcohol to remove the carnuaba and slap those puppies on.
He shouldn't mind - much.

stripes are fun to install... when things go well.

my new wheelset. i first slicked, then hydro'ed, then wheel sheilded,
and dressed the tires. took him out for a quick test drive and the
tires do not rub! excellent. they appear as wide as
215/45/17's, but are 205/45/17.

going to take more shots tomorrow morning.
