Must be summer, busy here
ended up wheelshielding the entire wheel.
i think the biggest problem of wheelshield is that it's too loose (watery). it needs to be a tad more oily so that it is easier to apply. when i apply using my cloth it usually ends up wiping off in almost the same motion. it gets into the nooks too easily because it's so watery. it almost kinda runs by itself.
but at the end the wheels are very shiny and looks good. minor swirls in the polished area are barely visible. quite a bit more shiny than Hydro alone.

booo... i checked out the CR today and upon close inspection not only was the paint swirled (fixable), there are several hairline scratches down to the primer (not fixable without airbrush).
so im going to pass on it.
did talk the price down from 38 to 35 to 33 to 32. but i said 31 or less otherwise pass. i guess i pass.

Hummm.. Looks like you guys have the recipe for wheelsheild/armoring.
Test drove the 09' STI and worked out a great price. I like it... My FitS might be counting down the last hours...
Need to check out the 370Z tomorrow.

thanks.
yah, it's a fun ride for sure.

i thought with the V6, MFR, both being 6MT and nissan, the 370Z would be so similar to the G, they are NIGHT AND DAY different.
that was the first thing i checked!
thanks!
im going to be detailing the car tomorrow. i told the dealer not to detail it during delivery.
thanks!

Back from Maui!
I missed my MINI terribly while I was gone (rode shotgun in a Mazda 3 while in Maui) but I'm happy that I put the car cover on before I left him in the airport parking lot. It rained last weekend and the ash from the various fires still in the area would have left a mess.
May have to do another wash sometime in the middle of the week..
p.s. Nice new toy, Ken..

Thanks dogdal and leslie. Leslie, welcome back. Any happy
picts you can share with us of Maui?
good thing you didn't get ash on the car.
I motored the Z this am for like 30min. Super fun ride.
took about 7hrs to detail the car. No picts yet maybe tomorrow. Car looks fantastic.
Had some contaminants on the top surfaces so took a while to clay the entire car.
I noticed something werd about the Meg's blue clay. After doing about 1/2 of the car it started to fall apart while kneeding. And it started to polish the clear instead of just cleaning... Lol.
Anyways used Griot's Polish3, orange pad, moderate force on speed5. Took out the swirls. As usual on my hobby cars, Best of Show with SprayOn Wax as LSP. WindowCleaner'ed the glass and spraypainted the rear exhaust flanges that were peeking from under the car with some matte black engine enamel.
Nero'ed the door panels and kick plate to prevent scuffage.

We stayed in Kapalua and were fortunate enough to have a room that faced the golf course and NOT the pool. I would've gone nuts if I was forced to take my afternoon nap while listening to the screams of children in the pool.

The fires are still burning like crazy. I know I'll have to give Geoffrey a bath once it's all over, but that's not really my main worry. I'm more concerned about the thousands of people that have been forced to evacuate. Just seeing the amount of smoke outside is quite scary.
Leslie- Nice pict with rainbow too.
Yah, I feel bad for those people who had to evac too.
hope the flames are no where near where you are.
Going to pull out the Z to check my work this am and snap some shots. Don't have time to motor much today. Boooo.
hahahaha

Thanks, lotsie.
Went out to snap some picts so will post them later on today or tomorrow. It's sunny so not sure how well my camera captured it...
Got home, cleaned the inside glass using my favorite combo...Clarity+DP glass MF towels.
its amazing how crappy dealers 'clean' the inner glass.
sooo clear now.
Checked the fluid levels on the Z to find that my brake fluid was at the lower limit so added some Dot3. Do to a quick breeze and me sneezing during the second I started pouring the fluid, I clumsly overfilled.
it wasn't too much, but it spilled a tad into the engine bay. so had a fun time cleaning.
Since brake fluid is corrosive I first used my RC car motor spray to blast it. Then took my paper towels to wipe down. Then sprayed a good amount of Slick. Slick is great cause it has that green color telling you where I sprayed. Then wiped down again. Then did another round of motor spray. I think I got it all wiped down.
Btw, since I only used a dab of fresh Dot3 I have like 98% left in the bottle. how long does this fluid last in the bottle?

yah, i dont know off hand how much they weigh, but they are by Ray's Engineering and suppose to be very light weight.
plus the RE050's are my favorite tires...same tires i run on the G.
car sticks to the road
very well.
i took the engine up to 6K rpm today (redline is past 7K) but man the
stock exhaust sounds good. very different from the G's elegant tone too.
im very happy that the Z turned out to be very different from my G35C even though one mightve suspected they are 2 similar cars. (like me
). very different animal.

I noticed that red line as soon as I saw the pic, sweet
Good looking set of wheels ya got's there Ken
.
Our tear drop has started to be built, we opted for a light pewter colour, rather than the bright aluminum. Can't wait to go get it.
