Must be summer, busy here
I got it for about 75% off with some accessories, so it wasn't that bad; it was a definite no with the original MSRP.I'm sure it will be used in engine maintenance before too long.

Supposed to have a Nasty Storm blow through here Today, Rainin' now, not much wind though. Molly will be kept nice and dry in the Garage. I still need to do the other 3 Wheels, I have 'til Sunday when we pick up our Oldest Daughter at the Airport for a Week Long Visit...can't wait!!
i bought this nuvi accessory bracket thingie for my G the other day and it turned out so great i got another one today.
meaning, another nuvi.
i took a printout of the 205W from amazon and bestbuy matched it for me.

We found some use for the need to update maps yesterday, someone listened to the GPS and not the passenger

A new Garmin with the features I need goes for about as much as the maps to update my street pilot, yeah I see the trap they're setting for me.
Now the GPS with the feature I want (APRS live mapping) is way more expensive, probably too high to justify.
i got that adapter/bracket from amazon.

t modded the socket side a little bit on the G so that it was solid.
then added a plastic bit on the adapter side so that the socket was
secure. no wiggle, very solid!!
i'll post up some picts later on tonight. just didnt get a chance to post
as i was spraypainting like 20 ***** for my new keyboard stand.

Just ordered the Nuvi Mount and Midland GXT1000VP4 50-Channel 36-Mile Waterproof 2-Way GMRS Radio with NOAA All Hazard /Weather Alert, we will use these on our Club Runs. The 1st one we are going on is the Three Rivers Run Through It on June 13th!!
Ken...when you were downloading the maps, it did take awhile, didn't it?? Maybe that's why you are having problems with them now. Hopefully the Re-loading of them will work!!

I think it's because Garmin makes it so it's one update per device, otherwise you could email updated map files and I wouldn't be floating in space so often, but Garmin wouldn't be able to get more money out of me.
yah, they sort of do actually. arkon (?) makes other brackets too.
wat i like about the one i got is that i has multiple joints (has teeth to interlock) so it's actually very solid if your power socket side is solid.
i had to squeeze in a .8mm plastic into the G's socket to stop the play it had. other then that, fit perfect!

Everytime you bring that up it reminds me of the really old Escort Radar detectors that come with rings to stick around the 12v socket because European (esp BMWs) apparently used to have larger 12vsockets than American cars?
yah, seems like my honda sockets are super tight but nissan/infiniti is like a little on the looser side. im not sure if my R53 was loose or not cause i never used the socket....
the adapter has 2 large metal terminals that bind into the socket but they didn't put 2 dummy pressure tabs so it wants to pivot off the 2 metal terminals. if that makes any sense.
so wat i did was added the dummy pressure tab by using the plastic sheet and binded it in there. it's solid.
also put a little thin doublestick tape so it doesnt fall out when i pull the bracket out the socket.

then another 30min or so to load into the nuvi.
