yah, that rusting is a big problem on the MINI's... luckily on mine when i had it i read about the rusting rails long before there was any sign of rust. i just coated the entire rail with paint. looked great for the 6yrs i had the car. :thumbups:

oil on MAF sensor is not good.... were you using a alta-process controlled oil-dipped like deep fried chicken intake? man they suckarse.

Not sure if it's still cheap, I look for the 5qt jug from Advance Auto, save about $7 compared to individuals most of the time. I haven't done an oil change since Feb, Pearls been sitting so much lately.

I detest walmart but you've got a meijer in Arlington heights and they're cheaper than walmart for groceries, but I don't really remember how big the auto selection is. I tend to do those big box places at 11 at night, after the crowd before the restocking shift

yah, walmart's price was like $27+ when i saw it last time (use to be almost always on sale at $22.99) for the 5qt jugs.

but i guess it is still cheaper than getting the 1qt x5. i'll have to check advance auto.... ive never shopped there. only autozone and pepboyz and ORLY's (o'reilleys or something).

yeah they put in an O'Reilleys in by me, pointless for car parts but holy crap load of detailing supplies, no epic but there were a few diamonds in the rough for supplies.

There are 2 Autozones, 2 Advance Autos, a NAPA, and an O'reilley's within a mile and a half of my house. One of each are within a half a mile.

I still have to order my oil online though. I wish Amsoil was sold in stores.

We found out that since the move we no longer meet the demographic to have our oil filters carried in stores (after a too small o-ring snap I do not trust OEM) so it's special order, gone are the days of impulse early oil changes. I'm ok with Mobil1 for normal driving, if I know there's a trip to the track, Dragon, mountain twisties or significant MINI run in the next 10k then I go royal purple; irony is not lost on me that Mobil one lowered royal purple's standards for the definition of full synthetic.

Ken did you park the fit in a crosswind so it would tip over?

I'm officially waiting on the UPS again, says it's in GA so shouldn't be too long.

there were branches everywhere but the enduratechs (coilovers) I have on the car made it too stable and would not tip over.

But I had charburger and cheeze fries last night.

No motoring this am. There's too much debris on the roads. Might take the G out after lunch in time to pickup the kid.
Doing laundry right now.

So my Rust Bullet arrived and I removed the interior sill plate and then did the surface prep, roughing the paint, removing loose rust, and cleaning with alcohol. Then I got on the first coat. Tomorrow morning I'll get on the second coat, then 2-4 hours of dry time and I'll put on the top coat (another Rust Bullet product). I'll probably put on two coats of that stuff just to be thorough. After all of this, I hope I'll never have to worry about rust there again.

Getting the interior sill plate back on with the seat there will be tough, I think. Removing the plate was hard enough.

Nabeshin- sounds good. Once you do it, it will be one less thing to worry about.

So I took my G into that meaningless OBD2 scan "smog check" the other day and noticed today that the highschool drop out (looked like a dork too) scratched the bottom edge of my door and top edge of the side sill.

I didn't notice until today because you have to look at the car straight from the side and not on an angle from where I usually look. Looks like he either sandwiched his scanner's cord or boot or something in the door.

Took some ScratchX on a kiwi pad and removed the scuffage, touched up 2 dots on the sill where it was missing paint. fixed, but I shouldn't have to do this just to get my ECU scanned. will SprayOn wax the area this weekend.
