So I finally got back late last night (was in toronto for biz), woke up at my usual time 5:33am. Then fell asleep again and woke up at 6am.

Had a nice breakfast, typed up some emails for work, then went outside to wash my MCS... Since last year. was clean, but wanted to wash any salt remains off. Was a perfect morning too. No wind, 60F, a little high on the humidity at 80RH to minimize dust, and cloudy.

Then used some Griot's mud, Amigo, Best of Show, and SprayOn Wax as LSP. BW'ed the arches, Hydro'ed the wheels, and dressed the tires, Nero'ed the interior. All in bout 5hrs. so quick and easy to do my hobby cars.

I'm suppose to be getting my wingtip tomorrow so if its not too sunny Sat, ill take some updated picts.

5 hours? on a MINI? You guys really are crazy I made my first DP order last week so will be attempting the first wash/wax of my R56 this weekend hopefully. I can guarantee it won't be 5 hours though, I don't think my wife would go for that. Wash with dawn, dry, epic, and clarity. I have hydro coming for later washes, and if the mood strikes I might try clay after the dawn wash but I doubt it this time around.

my full details usually take 13-15hrs...with maybe a 1/2hr break.

It only took 5hr this am because my car is usually pretty clean from the start.

Me too!

I'm going home to wash my poor dirty buggy MINI and fix her winking eye (broken driving light)!

You guys are fast. I spent four days on Dr Evil before MOTD. If I added up all the hours, it was at least 22 hours.

Chimera, you need to get a PC buffer and then you'll be spending a LOT more than 5 hours detailing. But your MINI will look like you spent a lot more than 5 hours detailing, too.

22hrs.

people are thinking ...PC buffer should speed things up from 5hrs to 5min no?

Bwaaaaaaaahaha ! Let's see someone try to get those results polishing by hand. We're talking 80 hours.

And my detail included cleaning the engine, removing the wheels to scrub the wells, and a full detail of the interior.

Knuts.

I did Blimey's detail in about 8 hours... plus 30 minutes before the car show... now he wasn't "Dr. Evil Perfect"... but he was pretty darn good. And that was 13 hours and 30 minutes more to watch **** for me.

If it came in PW I *might* want one. Looks good in black on black!

But will it keep the boot cleaner? We'll see!

Hey, ken... you finally stuck that on, huh ? Looks good ! See if you agree with me that it cuts down on about 40% of the muck when the roads are wet.

Not sure if I ever posted a pic of mine in this thread.

Nice wingtips!

Washed and Hydro'd Blimey this AM. Gotta mow the grass now. Then troubleshoot exhaust leak(s)...

I had to come into work this morning. Left the house at 7:45 but still managed to wash and Hydro my CR Cooper before. Beautiful day after several days of showers, wanted to drive a clean MINI today.

CR&PW&JB- thanks. it actually does work to reduce dust, i must say. after taking the below picts i went motoring and got hit with rain so drove through it for a good 35min. i get home and the rear was dirty but not like FILTHY dirty like before. so i just use SprayOn CarWash and cleaned him up.

but the best part of the wing is that my wing no longer looks small vs the rest of the aero kit. so it balanced out the look real nice. i likes. paint match is perfect too.

Griot's Best of Show with SprayOn Wax.

BW'ed arches, Meg's InsaneShine tire dressing... it's not a grazed donut look if you know how to use it correctly.

Good pics, Ken !

Not sure which I like more... your new wing tip, the wheels on your G, or the toolbox from Griot's. All sharp !

And glad to see you agree that the wing tip does cut down on the filth on the boot. Still have to wipe it down but this will make QDing much easier.

Now. If you would just get those RaceDeck tiles for your garage floor.

MCS looks good, Ken! And you drove in the rain, OMG!

I just got done washing Clara and Pearl. I got a new bug removal sponge that's just a regular sponge wrapped in soft cloth mesh, and it does a good job of helping get the bugs off. Still have to scrub a little but much easier than without it! Now just need to dress tires and do some Nero all the way around and we'll be set for tomorrow's club run

thanks, ML. yah, ive been driving in the rain quite a few times lately.
it comes out of no where. . SprayOn CarWash has been great for cleanup
though. oh yah, and that new OE wiper refills worked like a charm
today.

is that the sponge that Griot's sells? is that even safe on paint?
my wife drove my other Fit to Rockford yesterday so had A TON of buggage
on the front bumper. i used my regular MF platinum towel and some
SprayOn CarWash. sprayed, let it soak for 1min or so and wipe off. not
too much scrubbing needed. i think next time im going to wet down the
front using tap water in a spraybottle, spray some BugRelease, and follow up
using SprayOn CarWash. should work even faster.

I got it from Wal-Mart. It seems to be safe - it's fabric covered, not plastic. No hazing or anything.

Yep, that's what it looks like, except it's a sponge and not a mitt.

So, basically, it looks nothing like that one.
