our annivarsary won't be for a few more weeks, but i double checked
the contents when the box from snap-on arrived... was a request from
the wife just to double check.

we ordered all new units but snap-on's distribution site local in IL
sent me one that was used(?). WTF. when i talked to customer
service the lady said they only sell new so the distributor obviously made
a mistake. their e-business folks are nice, i think it's the damn locals
that are dummies. i might drive over to crystal lake and kick their asses.

yah, really, that ring i bought was hells more expensive than all of these
tools combined. i better get all new stuff.

You do know I was just kidding about your wife getting you a used wrench, right ? I mean, YOU are the one that ordered them, I bet.

Glad they're taking care of you though. That sucks that someone could make such a huge mistake.

I'm impressed, Paul !! I won't ask how you pulled this off, lest the Mrs somehow gets wind of it and the gig be up.

Blimey- you were right, the pulley does change your life! I can't believe I went this long without getting it installed (warranty). Car runs much smoother now, and I don't have to floor it to go anywhere.

Yup.... just curious, how many supercharger / engine warranty claims did you have during your warranty period, that might have been an issue if you had the pulley? My guess is ZERO....

YUP! 0

But I just wanted to be on the safe side, plus I bought the car used, not that really matters ( <<< lame attempt to justify waiting). But the car only has 22K on it and the 3 yr warranty expires in 3 weeks.

It's funny - when I picked up my car, I told my MA that I was going to pretty much keep it stock, and that was my intent. Within 6 months, that was one of the biggest jokes of all time.

By the way.... you have 50,000 miles of warranty - the 3yrs is only for "free" maintenance...

Think I could get a 15% sc pulley installed without my SO knowing it ??

She already thinks the MCSC is too fast and I'm going to get into trouble in it. She would be pretty pissed if she knew I increased the power.

Its possible!!!

Yes. The car will sound different (the supercharger REALLY screams when you get into it), and will feel like you put an extra cage of hamsters under the bonnet.

Grow a pair and get the pulley.

I can always tell her I found a new gas station that offers 97 Octane. And that sound ? That's just the air whistling through your hair.

No, really. My mother drove it and did not notice a thing! I don't know what was going on when she drove it!

As for the sound...its absolutely intoxicating. It isn't just the same S/C whine. The sound is more...hmmm...hard to describe. It sounds a bit more high pitched and gritty, perhaps. Its like an additional whine on top of the S/C, if that makes any sense. I think this may be the water pump gears? The S/C whine itself is obviously louder too.

Anyhow, once you get the pulley it will scream, and you can actually shift below 3K and get some decent acceleration.

Here's what a one-balled, pullied, JCW intake cabrio sounds like (with the top closed)...
