St. Louis MINI sightings!
You can always run a HIGHER octane than your car is timed for, but not a lower one. That's why cars built for 87 can run 87 or above. Our cars, since they are timed for premium (91 or >) need the octane rating to avoid detonation under power.
Most stations around STL have 92,93, or 94, but I have seen some with 91. Most premium gases are usually the same price even if the octane is a bit different.

OK here is a bad cell-phone image of the Ugly Yellow cat Litter MINI. To take something so wonderful and glue a giant orange cap to it.... UGH! Maybe tomorrow I'll remember to bring my camera. It seems to live in the parking lot at my work.
A most unexpected MINI sighting:
I was driving home last Sunday morning from an overnight stay at a camp site on the Meramec river near Steelville when a pure silver MCS came on the same road behind me. It followed me north to Cuba and kept going as I exited on to HWY 44 east back to St. Louis. I waved, but I think the driver didn't see me as the boot was very dirty
and it was dark and rainy.

Blue/White MINI on 270 this morning--Accident?
I've seen a Blue/White MCS IL plates on 270 W/B going into North County a couple of times. This morning around 7:00 am, as we were crossing the Chain of Rocks Bridge, traffic kept coming to a halt for no apparent reason. After crossing into MO, we stopped again, after going back up to speed I looked in my rearview mirror and saw an SUV crossing across all lanes. Blue MCS are you out there? We're you involved in the accident? I watched for you all the way to 170 but no sign, hopefully you were just caught behind the wreck!!!

Bean is now on the road, and the first 3 MINIs I pased didn't even wave or nothing!
The first one was on the other side of the highway, and zipping past, so that was ok. Yellow/Blk. The 2nd and 3rd where both Blue/Blk. One was driven by a lady. I was stopped and trying to turn into Best Buy, around 9:15 or so. She just zipped past. Other one was driven by a young man, with no plates on his MINI.
But the best one was #4, Blue MINI, Yellow Frount British (I think) Plate. Waved, Smilled, All the goodies! This was at about 5:15-5:30 on Manchester near the Radio Shack. I remember seeing him turn into that parking lot after I zipped passed. I am pritty sure its one of you all, but who?

New Mini
My wife and I just bought a 2004 Cooper S, Yellow with white stripes and top in St. Charles, a month ago. We live 100 miles north in Quincy, IL. The Minis are starting to get popular up here. About 5 of them in town. We drove to St. Louis area just to get one. Man is it ever fun to drove. My wife says she is always careful as to what she is doing in the car while driving, as she always feels she has an audience watching her.
We live in Southeast Missouri and there aren't many MINI's (okay, that sounds a little strange
) in our area and we don't get to St Louis often enough. Add to that the fact we are new MINI owners, so it makes our day when we see another MINI.
We saw this one at the Missouri Botanical Gardens on Oct 10 and couldn't pass up the opportunity for a picture with another MINI. Unfortunately we couldn't stick around to meet the owners.
We were surprised we didn't see any other MINI's during that trip.

I tell you what, Mishka, don't ever take your MINI to Springfield, MO. If you do, and my mother spots it, you'll have to file a stolen car report! My mom LOVES the HO/B cabrios with stripes.
Hmmm... maybe there's something about MINIs that's genetic!?

Someone Spotted me! And it was a cop! Yes, got my first ticket with Bean.
I left work early yesterday because I was sick, and on the drive home I went into the 'zone' and noticed some flashing lights, and there he was. Seems he got me going 80 in a 60.
Could have sworn it was 65, and I was only doing 70.... oh well.
Anyone know a good lawyer? =P

Oh, Man, sorry to hear it.
After driving for 25+ years, I got my very first ticket with my MINI. Cop caught me all alone on 44 early Saturday morning doing 75 in a 60.
I just paid the fine.

Yesterday coming home from work on 44, say around 4:15 or so. I came up on a PW/BLK MCS. I stuck behind her for a while, driving along side, and just enjoying the mini MINI Rally we where making, when I saw a St. Louis MINI Club sticker in her back window! Well, traffic was bunching, and I think she was getting ready to turn, so I waved goodbye and zipped on.
I don't know about all of you, but see anther MINI on the road always makes me smile. See another member, now that just makes me smile that much more.
