St. Louis MINI sightings!
Jan,
Welcome to owning a MINI
If you can't attest to the claim that owning a MINI is more fun than a Porsche, you should bring it out Saturday, and enjoy a drive through the countryside with 50 other MINIs! Check out the thread on the Missouri Southern Road Rallye for more information, or e-mail me at stlminievents@sbcglobal.net.

I've been bad lately
Too busy motoring in Sunnie. I did spot my first Cabrio on Brentwood a few days ago. Don't think it was a demo. It was a Purple Haze with the top up
Must have been broke
See you all tomorrow with both Louie & Sunnie & MsBrit as a navigator:smile:

Hey all in the STL area...my wife and I will be out there (Eureka and the Des Peres areas) the 18th through the 27th of December to see the wife's family for Christmas. We're both St. Louisan's relocated to the Richmond, VA area. We both graduated from Kirkwood High in '92 and '93 respectively. I lived in Kirkwood forever (W. Madison), and my wife grew up in Des Peres (off Bopp Road). If you all are having any get togethers, could you see fit to roll out the welcome mat for a DC Metro Mini Club member and his wife? We also own a 2004 Pathfinder Armada (as our two kids seem to like the legroom in the backseat better than in the Mini
Talk about 2 extreme ends of the spectrum for car ownership
)...so we're still debating whether or not to drive out in the Mini or in the Armada....decisions, decisions...I know what I want to drive out there...now the wife, that's a different story
Anyways...hopefully you guys have something planned...it would be nice to meet some Mini owners from our old neck of the woods.
Tony.

Hi Tony,
Glad to hear from a former St Louis native:smile: Unfortunately, we are having our holiday get together on Weds. the 15th. Perhaps some of us could still meet up with you & your wife for lunch or dinner. PM me if you are interested.

However, I live about one block east of Kirkwood High! So, if you see a MINI in a driveway on the corner of Geyer and Essex, that's me. (Well, actually, that's Felix, I sleep inside, but you know.....) There are a few MINIs in your old stomping grounds; I see them motoring through Kirkwood often. I guess if I see a big, family-packed, Armada honking, flashing lights, and waving
in a couple of weeks, I'll know it's you!As Lois said, maybe something can be arranged.
Welcome home.
There's Geyer in my sig pic! v v
A couple of friendly MINIs!
With the number of MINIs increasing on the streets, it is my impression that the proportion of unfriendly (non-waving/non-honking/non-thumbs-up-ing
) MINIs is also going up.
BUt this past weekend I saw a couple of friendlys
:
1. A gold
MC convertible on Jamieson near Chippewa. The distinguished lady driving it gave an enthusiastic wave when I honked
2. A pepper white MC behind me waved back (I forget where I was in the city).

I, too seem to be ignored a lot. I've thought that it was due to Sunnie not being as bright in her BRG dress as Louie was in his red & black tuxedo
Perhaps after she gets her gold stripes on Tuesday, she'll get more attention

I have seen a silver with black top Mini recently on my drives to work. As I exit I-270 onto to IL Rte. 157 I go right and my new friend goes straight onto SIU campus. We have exchanged waves on two occasions,
I think she may be a professor.
As for ones who don't wave, I have been caught off guard a few times myself, only to wave to late.
Still I know what you mean, with the influx of new Mini owners, they all might not be a true lover of the car, perhaps more of an infatuation with it.

I saw the silver and black top Mini again today. I think I have seen her now 4-5 times in the past couple of weeks.
The morning drive can be lonely, it is nice to see a another Mini once in awhile.

On my way to Champaign, IL yesterday (2-16-05) afternoon there was a BG/W MC with many SCCA stickers on it cruising on I-70 in Illinois. He also had black, stamped wheels (not the holeys) -- probably winter tires. Friendly guy, thumbs ups and waves. Anyway, we kind of stuck together all the way to junction of 70 and 57, where he went on towards Indianapolis and I branched north towards Champaign. It was cool to have two MINIs running the interstate that wasn't part of a planned run.
So, if you are the guy and you read this board, it was good motoring with you!

Belated Eagle Run.
Took a drive up to Louisiana on Monday (Pres Day), and stopped in IL to view the eagles. Actually we saw at least a dozen, and it was quite brilliant.
Just outside of Clarksville on the way up we caught up with a yellow and black top Mini. The lady had her big black dog with her, as we had our little black dog with us (dogs like to motor). She did wave, but turned around and headed back south saying something I could not hear.
Either way it was fun to see another Mini.

The Blues
When I took my daughter to soccer practice on Monday night I sighted a blue with black top convertible MINI parked at a home on Ruth Drive in Kirkwood. Sadly there was no one to way to.
Today I spotted another blue with black top (hard top) MINI on I-270 exiting onto I-170. I honked, but did not get a wave.
I have got the blues!!!!

Paul, I think I saw you weekend before last in Bridgeton.... do you have personalized plates with "Checkers" or something like that? I was turning around in the cul-de-sac leaving a friend's house....

Yes that was me, in front of my house. I remember seeing you, and you waved, very cool. Are you going to do the Spring Rallye, my wife and I are planning on being there, hope to see you.
As for why I was in the cul-de-sac I was checking my tires. I was getting a warning. Turns out, I did not find anything wrong, and just aired up and reset. It has been okay for over a week now.
To All,
Today I saw yet another blue MINI, this time with a white top in Fairview Heights today. It was in a parking lot at 333 Salem Place, I parked next to it while I had business there, but never did see the owner.l

Friendly waving MINI (CR/W) spotted on Ballas Rd heading south as I was heading north. I nearly missed the gentleman waving at me. Managed a quick wave back---hopefully in time for him to see me!
I get an errant tire sensor light from time to time... and it never turns out to be anything! We're in for the spring rallye, no excuses this time, and I'm looking forward to meeting people. Hopefully I'll have my boot stripes done by then:smile:
Saw a CR/W MC on 270 south near 40 today, driver waved at me (which is more than I usually get.... usually I honk at people and they look at me like "what the heck!" )

I saw one in Chesterfield this weekend, waved as it went by.
