R50/53 Do you wave at other MINIs??
we've had our mini about a month and have about 1,300 miles...we are both 0'fer on the return waves - and we wave at every mini we see. it is almost embarrasing but we ain't giving up. BTW, we're some of those "older" people you see driving a mini...
I have found that you are more likly to get a wave on the weekend then during the week. MAybe it's a weekend thing.
My daughter and I have taken to waving out the side windows and sunroof at the same time. Now thats waving.

Well, I've had my Mini for about two weeks now, and finally someone in a silver Mini waved at me just before I got home today! But I didn't discern it soon enough to return it, and I feel bummed about it. Everytime I pass another Mini I always look to see if they are trying to make eye contact with me, but no one ever is, so I never wave. :'(

I've had my MCS for 5 days now and I've seen maybe 8 others. I've gotten about a 50% return on my waving efforts.
At one end of the spectrum I've seen, "who's the idiot waving at me
" and on the other end I've seen "Hey! Happy Motoring!

Disappearing Wave...
The more MINI's I see around here, the less likely the owners are to wave. When I first got my MINI last November, of the few MINI's I saw, most were likely to wave. Now I might see 3 MINI's on my way to work (like today) and NONE will wave, even though I almost always wave. Oh well, I'll keep waving, maybe eventually they'll get it.
In VA
In Virginia almost none wave back. I see a couple a day. In a year plus only 3 have waved back. And one of those was a fellow club member.
Heck there's one in my neighberhood now, and even back in our subdivision they won't even make eye contact much less return the wave.
But people in VA don't make eye contact when driving. If they did they'd have to admit they see you and then they might actually need to yield or not cut you off. Can't have that, it's easier for them to keep eyes straight ahead or better yet focused down on their cell phone.
I keep trying too. And I still get a lot of attention from non MINI drivers in traffic and parking lots.

i got two waves my first day driving the MINI!
both in Cambridge, MA. i figured, with so many MINIs around here, and people not generally being the friendliest in these parts, that the wave thing would just not be happening... but it does.

I try to wave every time I notice one. It does feel wierd driving down the road in my RAV4 when I'm not in the Mini and I see another Mini go by and wonder why they didn't look over and do the wave. Then I realize... :-)
The first day I had my MINI I got a wave from a convertible MINI. I wasn't aware that MINI drivers do that but it confirmed to me that I had made a great choice in choosing the MINI over some other options! It feels great to not have a car that's just meant to get you from point A to point B! Since then I have tried waving at other MINIs but no luck yet...
Really! If you are a MINI enthusiast why would
you not wave! Can people be that self-absorbed!?
I have been waving since I saw my first and as
new owner of a 2002 I am a fanatic waver, will
flash my lights and if the mini is behind me, I'll
even wave with the rear wiper! So happy to see
ya!
