R50/53 Do you wave at other MINIs??

Do you wave? Do you wait until the other driver waves? Or do you just look at the car and not the driver?
I used to ride a motorcycle, and a simple wave was the usual thing to do. It's kinda neat to be driving a 4-wheeled vehicle and experience the same thing!

) - flash the lights. Did that when I rode motorcycles and drove Jeeps when they weren't popular. People think I'm nuts, but life is to short....Les
I wave. Not many return waves anymore. I got my first return wave in weeks last night on my way home from work.
Most lady drivers of MINIs pretend they don't see me
. My wife is okay with that. But sometimes ladies driving cars other than MINIs approach me and ask about my car

I always wave/flash/honk. Outside of Washington, DC I get a good response, maybe 75%. In the city tho, MINIs are all over the place. I usually dont get even 1 in 10. I always try tho! Who cares about looking foolish/crazy
People that don't respond drive me nuts :impatient

There are two MINIs in the town I live in, and we both wave, honk, and/or flash the lights whenever we see each other. In this area, there aren't too many MINIs, but there is one in a nearby town that is almost identical to Gromit-and they absolutely refuse to wave. What's up with that? Even if you aren't a MINI fanatic like the rest of us, it is still (at the very least) polite to wave when someone waves to you.

I wave every time.... but I don't get waved back at all the time. Today I got snubbed twice by the same driver.
I get about a 70% response rate. In Toronto less, and in the country more. I live in the country in a small town, 15,000 people and well about 10 MINIs, I never see them when we can stop and chat though... so I only know who they are when I hear about them... I don't think they are members of this site or our Ontario one either... :(

No Wavers in SoCal*
Here in SoCal, specifically, the LA/Inland Empire area- we are equally "filthy with MINIs" (nice line, btw). While each month I see more and more MINIs on the road, my wave back ratio hovers around 1:5.
Then again left-coasters are known more for our road rage and poppin' gats on the freeway than for our hospitality. We've been trained to not look at the other driver @ the stoplight, and if possible, to pull up just enough to be in each other's blind spot.
Sad really. And still, I wave. And then duck. (kidding!!)
*NOTE: I get better response when sauntering into the more affluent communities than where us regular folk live, which makes no sense! Aren't "they" supposed to be snobs?

At least this way...if the Mini driver is observant they will know why I am waving.

I can really relate to that, glad to know that I am in good company

I find it interesting about the city vs. country and gender attitudes.

when i first purchased my mini i noticed people waving at me ... it was really cool i waved back .....it was exciting.... ive even had them next to me in traffic and had " mini conversations" hahaha ...all in all its a great experience
I wave whenever I can. Sometimes the other MINI sneaks up and catches me off guard. But my daughter waves when I cain't. She loves it and so do I. People who drive MINIs and don't wave are just driving a car.
I must say that sometimes when I am driving I don't notice another MINI till it is too late. I drive mostly on the tollway here in IL and my 94 mile round trip is 80 miles on the toll. I can see waving in city traffic but when you are doing 75 and the other guy is doing 75 going the other way there is no time to see him. I have waved at cars that I see in my rear view and have slowed so that they can pass me. I would wave if I had more of a chance but it seems that I don't often have that chance.
Have had our Mini for 2 1/2 weeks. Have gotten two waves so far.
We were making a left turn at a light and the other Mini was making a right turn. The guy came around the corner pretty fast and he took one hand off the wheel to make the turn. He took the other to wave at us. He was driving in a spritited way <grin>. I was in the passenger seat and my wife was driving. I put my waving hand out my wifes window. She said "what were you doing"? told her about the waving thing. It's mainly her car.
The other time we were on a two lane highway and saw a liquid yellow coming the other way and stuck my hand out the window. By the time the car got up to ours (also liquid yellow) It was the passenger waving out the windshield.

i second the 'other car is a mini plate'. or maybe we need a secret wave - kinda like a secret handshake (which might be a little hard to perform going 50 in opposite directions).
i always wave although sometimes i won't see the wave until the other MINI is past me - at which point i throw my arm out the window and turn it awkwardly to try and wave in the opposite directions (you drivers who wave and don't get a return think your idiots - try watching me doing that maneuver while sitting in traffic)
last week i had an impromptu follow the leader for a few miles after i passed another mini and waved. when we parted ways we both gave a nice smile / nod / and a parting wave. < that was probably my best MINImoment so far.
