Remote Door lock repair

Anyone hear tear apart the door lock assembly to figure out why the remote will not work to unlock the doors?

This thread should have what you want,

My first thought is you have a key fob problem, like a dead CR2032 battery.

Both of door lock modules in my car are dead, died one at a time years ago. I ordered a used right hand door lock module to replace the whole thing. Haven't done it yet tho, maybe this weekend. Should be able to rule out dead battery by listening for the trunk lock/unlock and seeing car lights flash when trying to lock. If none of those things happen, then could be a fob battery. Both of my keys have their original 17 year old batteries though (not kidding), and both work as long as I give them some recharge time in the ignition every so often.

I dont think the problem is a fob problem, its in the locking mechanism or the wiring to the door. The rest of the locks work with the fob, just the DS door does not unlock. There is an RF guy at work who I will lean on for info as needed, what I would ultimately like to do is know if the locking mechanism is getting the unlock order from the fob receiver, if it is then the wiring thru the door should be OK. Then if the door lock fails to open, why... I will most likely go grab one from a wrecking yard to tear apart on the bench to root cause the failure.

Here’s a DIY thread on a disassembling the actuator and motor replacement: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...placement.html

Can't remember where I saw it on the forum but there's a module behind the rear view mirror that controls the locking mechanism. Try putting your fob close to it and see if it works. It could be that the module is bad.

Your saying the DS door may not unlock because the receiver behind the mirror is bad? All the other locks work with the unlock key press, DS door will lock but not unlock.

You’re confusing things by talking about the receiver and RF. I’m pretty sure the signal to the door lock actuators comes from the BCM. If the other doors unlock with the fob, it’s probably just a bad actuator.

Got it, not trying to confuse anyone... The links provided will help me to figure out what broke. It was suggested that the RF receiver behind the mirror is bad which I'm pretty sure it is not since the rest of the locks work.
