Should I replace timing chain and head gasket?

Hello all,

I am taking apart same of my engine.on a 2004 mcs with 110000 miles for maintenance , etc. I am taking the pulleys ( crank tensioner and idler pulley for replacement as they look stock) and may be taking Rocker arms to install another cam. ( maybe)

My question is if i am that close should i replace the head gasket if there are no signs of overheating yet? Just wondering if I should mess with it if it isn't showing signs of failing . ( at least it would allow me to look at the condition of the vaves )

Also should I replace the gaskets on the oil pump ( timing chain cover while.i am at it. ( if it isn't leaking should I touch it or just let it be.( I will be checking the chain guides when pulling the cam) just wondering if they are in descent shape and cover not leaking should I touch it?

Thanks for your time

It's my opinion that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. There are exceptions- damper pulley, idler pulley, etc. But I wouldn't replace a head gasket as a routine maintenance item.

And I wouldn't replace a camshaft without a whole lotta other work.
