Hi JB and gang!

No movement on my MCS, still shows enroute (miniusa) and on the dock (askmini).

My patience is certainly being tried here. I am happy for everyone that has movement from the Takamine shipment.

JB, when was you born date, before or after 12/6? I am looking forward to humming "Peaceful easy feeling" by the Eagles, but I certainly am on the tail end of the VDC list, so it seems.

Hi Miniron
Hang in there. When I called yesterday at 4:00, there was not any movement. When I called early this morning, the move to the VPC date was yesterday. Looks like their systems update from CA to NJ overnight.

My Mini was scheduled to be completed on December 6th, but was "born" on December 3 and to the port on the 5th.

Close... oh so close!
JB

Hi Peter
That is FANTASTIC news!! Congratulations!!
When your dealer called yesterday, did he say what day he would have it and you could pick it up?

Wow, I miss a day on MCO and look at all the updates and great news! I can't believe we've gotten 500 more page views in just 2 days!

Welcome, MissMe! It's good to have you on board.

And not only do we have a new member, but one of our members has exited the Clubhouse: congrats PeterM! And thanks for the pics in the member's gallery.

JB is now safely at the VPC and jdcrew is loaded on the truck (hope you're MINI has it's seat belt fastened!).

MJC, it looks like you and I will both be celebrating "Happy MINI Day" on Monday. I've confirmed that Agent Cooper is now at the dealer and will need a couple days to get all gussied up for me. My Motoring Advisor will be handing over the keys at 2:30PM!

Oh, I forgot to mention, I got my MCO t-shirts in the mail today. If you haven't ordered one, I highly recommend that you do. Both the men's and women's styles are good quality shirts with nice, durable graphics. Not only do you get to show off your passion for MINI every time you wear it, but your purchase will also help support this terrific community!

question
When did your Estimated Delivery Date show in the Owners lounge. I notice that many of you have an estimated delivery date as well as some February clubbers.

My OL info still shows enroute with no ETA, yet MINIUSA confrms it as at the VPC

Thanks
JB

The OL gets updated every Sat night/ Sun morning. If it was delivered this week it should be updated this weekend.

*sheepish cowering* I have to admit, I have not been practicing my driving. The only other car I have available to drive is a Z3 and it is THE car that helped nudge me further into the non-driving world. While I love riding in it, I just can't see out of it no matter what I do. I have, however, been visualizing the trip from the dealer to home. I am so confident that MINI will be a breeze to drive. But just in case, hubby and I have already discussed our strategy for getting MINI home through the Chicago rush hour. Traffic should be a little lighter than usual, too, because it is MLK Jr. Day.

I've been taking screen shots of the OL every time an update came through. I agree that most updates would come through on a Sat/Sun night, but sometimes I'd get lucky and get an update during the week. The first appearance of an estimated delivery date happened the day before my MINI was unloaded in Bayonne. Here's the history:

11/23/02: first appearance of my order; status = on order; production # assigned; est. production date of 12/13/02

11/30/02: status = scheduled for production; VIN assigned; est. production date of 12/13/02

(side note: actual production date was 12/9/02, but this never appeared in the OL)

12/14/02: status = awaiting transport

12/25/02: status = en route; est. delivery date of 1/6/03

(side note: my MINI was unloaded from the Hual Triton in Bayonne on 1/26/02)

1/10/03: status = at distribution center; est. delivery date of 1/6/03

1/14/03: status = at distribution center; est. delivery date of 1/18/03

1/16/03: status = at distribution center; est. delivery date of 1/17/03

(side note: my MINI is actually at the dealer as of 1/16)

Hey Barky, I'm hoping for delivery of my MCS on Monday. The club has sure made the wait a "little easier". Misery loves company, then we can all motor together.
Best of luck and let's keep up with MCO, the tips and information are great.

Hi All!
I guess I'm out of the club - my apologies because my phones have been down and I don't have access to this site at work...BUT I GOT MY GIRL on Monday!!!

I absolutely love her - she drives better than I even remember. Let me put a plug in for the Sales guys (and they are ALL guys!?) - they were so patient and accomodating - they were really fair with my trade in - especially when I showed them the online value. They let me go through my whole checklist that I got from another forum here on MCO...and they NEVER pushed me - that is what I call a perfect start!

That said, I want to warn you with the navigation system coming - I had read online that there were some cold-weather problems - that the navi wouldn't come on - mine does not always come on - it has been very cold here in the NE, so I can't tell if the cold weather is really the issue (tomorrwo will be 20 degrees, so that should give me some insight). The dealer told me they have already just replaced several of them - they will do mine on Tuesday - you might want your dealer to check that out ahead of time for you.

Good luck to everyone - and happy motoring! Thank you for all your support!

Woohoo, my Mini is "released for transport" and is just awaiting a truck to take it to Westchester Mini. I am probably going to pick it up and drive it home to Upstate NY next Thursday or Friday depending on the weather. I want to wait until there is nice day since it has the performance tires. That maybe asking too much since we have had 82 inches of snow so far this winter.

Is anyone buying the factory alarm system or the lojack? I get 15% reduction on the comprehensive part of my insurance if the car has lojack or a passive alarm system. I am thinking that these cars might be popular to steal unless we promote them as electric cars. I will check other threads on here as I think alarms have been discussed before.

Congrats MJC1880!!

hbh170, I was released for transport today as well. Askmini told me that it is scheduled to be put on a truck the 22nd. Funny, my poor mini has to sit for 5 days about 2 hours away. So close, but so far!! With anyluck, I will receive my mini the 23rd or 24th! Haven't heard anything from the dealer yet, but soon I am sure.

The alarm system is not available from my dealer yet, nor do they have any information on it here in Southern Cal

How are the rest of your deliveries going?

I just picked up my MCS. Wow! This car is so fun to drive! It just wants to go.
I don't know if I can be mellow through the break in period. The dealer was pretty considerate, but that email that miniusa sends out to ask what radio stations and what you want done with your headlights, etc falls on deaf ears. No one at the dealership ever heard of it. No biggie, the dealer called me and asked me what I wanted anyway, so I didn't push the issue. I was looking forward to the cd, but all they gave me was a box of cds to choose from, that looked like they picked up from a Kmart clearance sale. I picked a Foo Fighters album. Not bad, but not 50's. I hope your dealers are a better up to date with the program.

You have to be really patient when the salesman is telling you how to work all the buttons. I swear all he was saying was blah-blah-blah (insert sound of Charlie Brown's teacher) when all I wanted to do was to drive.

They made a mistake ordering metal colored rims instead of white, but they are going to make good on the deal. They gave me the Pirelli's for Performance tires and they do grab the So Cal freeway grooves. The dealer said he hasn't seen Dunlops like it said the other topics. He said Goodyear are the all-weather tires.

The January club has been great. Thanks for the support!
FYI: I ordered personalized plates in advance from the California DMV. You may want to think about that. I think they said it would take 8 weeks, so they should come about the same time the dealer registration comes through. Besides, it'll give you something to do instead of calling Mini every day and watching the Owner's lounge update. By the way, it says my MINI is still on its way to the dealer.

Ok Barky, it's official. You are a tried and true MINIac! You are WAY overdue for a MINI! Congrats on taking delivery in only a few more days! WOOHOO.

congrats also to PeterM! it's really not that hard to follow break in (just be sure to only occasionally *nudge* it past 4500). I did mine in about a week and half!

JB...I know the feeling. very strange to have to wait for something when you could go and pick it up in a couple of hours

Good luck to the rest of you. Hope you all get out in time. Don't forget, after you take delivery and motor for a few days/nights/weeks/month to take a minute and
rate your dealer
