I recently discovered minicooperonline.com. I've been lurking, waiting for someone to start a January Club, as my dealer has confirmed for me a production number with a build date of December 13. I just can't wait any longer - anyone else out there in the January Club?

(Woohoo! Post #1!!!)

I've been wondering when someone would start the "January Club". It was inevitable, so congratulations! As the founder of the first "Can't Wait Club" (November/02) I can tell you that the response from MCO members is tremendous, and the thread becomes cathartic. The Clubs produce a great support group.

The best news is you eventually get to quite "the stinkin' Club"! I took delivery yesterday of a gorgeous LY/B MCS. The Club gave me strength, and cohorts to trade impatient stories with.

Go for it - keep the "Can't Wait For..." regime alive and well at MCO!

as a helpful tool...over the course of my waiting (only a few weeks left!), researching, tracking and overall obsessing about the MINI, I have assembled a handy list of information from tracking the boat (including finding it's location on the water) to a short (but growing) list of aftermarket suppliers. Please feel free to use it. for the time being it is located at www.geocities.com/dsb106. I know myself and others have found it helpful.

BTW...welcome to MCO! a good group here that really help with the wait!

I can't wait for January either, so I guess that makes me part of the club as well  Well at least I'm hoping to see my MCS in January, though I have yet to receive cofirmation from my dealer...
YIPPEE only 2 months to go!

Hey, db, thanks for the link. I know I'll spend hours visiting the sites you've collected. I've told some family and friends about tracking my baby from the plant, across the big pond, to the distribution center, then home to mama, and everyone is amazed you can do that. I get giddy just thinking about it

Hello
Welcome!! This forum surely makes the wait easier.
Like others,I was wondering who was going to start the club. I am most definately in. My mini enteres production this week. If all goes well, looks like the next ship to California is December 14, with docking on January 8th. Hopefully, I will be motoring by the end of January!

Welcome, JB! That's 3 and counting.

You mention that your Mini goes into production this week and will hopefully be on the Dec. 14th boat. How much time does the Mini actually spend in production during that two week period?

Hi Barky
From reading on this site, production is about 5 days. The estimated production date is apparantly the date of completion. It takes a couple of days to ship to the boat, and from there loading for the long voyage. I am guessing that my mini will make it on a ship about December 14th as that is the next ship leaving for CA according to the shipping site.

Welcome, Carl! I don't suppose you need that cold weather package in Charleston...

Welcome to you, too, bmarvin! We'd love to have you in the January Club, but I know how you feel....if I had my choice, December delivery is better than January.

So, how long has everyone been waiting? I wanted a MCS with the Harman Kardon sound system, so I've had to be patient. Here's my timeline:

11/01: first visit to dealer - they didn't even have the Mini showroom built yet

2/12/02: went to the Chicago Auto Show to sit in one (I'm really short and "fit" is a primary concern with any vehicle)

2/14/02: plunked down $500 deposit - put on wait list as #112; told it would be a year wait

3/19/02: my hubby was getting his Z3 serviced at the dealership and saw the first shipment of Minis arrive (sigh)

4/27/02: test drive - whoopee!

11/22/02: order placed with plant

12/13/02: estimated production date

1/03: estimated delivery

Hi all...

Here's my timeline.

March '02-8/22/02: numerous visits to BMW dealerships, comparisons, article readings, general wanting/begging/pleading with the wife. Even bought 2 MINI models.

8/22/02: Wife gives in!!! Says "go put down the deposit already!" I bone up my $500 to Lauderdale Mini and meet Debra (fantastic saleswoman).

11/12/02: Receive production number, I'm on the way. Estimated build date, week 49 (12/6/02).

11/23/02: Called ASK-MINI, confirmed status 150.

11/28/02: Receive vin...my ride is being assembled!

ok...so when should I anticipate delivery? End of December maybe? A Christmas present for me!!!

OMG! I just got my VIN!!

I checked the Owners' Lounge about 2 hours ago and it still said "on order". It's getting late and I figured I'd check again before hitting the sack. Now my Mini's moved to "scheduled for production".

Why do I have the feeling these last couple of months are going to be the worst part of the wait

Welcome to the club, jdcrew!

FLMiniMan, I've got my fingers crossed that your baby arrives before the end of the month. Either way, welcome!

So I've done a little research and, if everything goes according to Hoyle, my Mini will be shipping out on the Falstaff on 12/15. I was a little disappointed in the name of the ship, as it reminds me of the beer. :???: Oh, why couldn't my Mini be booked on the Love Boat? Well, I suppose I won't have to worry about Mini getting that nasty Norwalk virus on the Falstaff

I am happy to join the club. I have not heard yet from my dealer on my actual production date. The dealerhas only told me that I can expect delivery late in January.

I have been wondering if it is better to get a car built before Christmas when the workers are excited about an upcoming holiday or after Christmas when perhaps they are tired from the holiday.

Who cares that Christmas is coming, I want January!

JDcrew, I've got the same estimated production date of 12/20. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to get an update on possible delivery to Texas. Where is yours going?

Good to have you in the clubhouse, hbh. I'm with you....forget Christmas, I'm waiting for Happy Mini Day (which, of course, is the day I take delivery). Although I must say that Christmas does provide opportunities to get some Mini gear/accessories/etc. in advance of the delivery. (I hope my hubby's reading this).

Hey! Congrats to all of you with build dates/VIN numbers!! I've been reading here for awhile and have learned quite a bit...it's making the wait easier, or so I tell myself  . What would make things even easier would be if I could log onto the Owner's Lounge, however, if you buy your MINI in Europe through Military Sales you can't (or so I've been told). Bummer. Oh well, then it'll be a suprise when my MINI finally shows up hmm?
At any rate, timeline...

02 Oct 02 Decided my Mini needs a big brother
26 Oct 02 Ordered my MINI
am hoping the delivery date stays the same... 3rd or 4th week of January. We are lucky over here, in that we don't have to wait for the ship to bring them to us...

What awesome cars!!
