The Faust was scheduled to dock in Charleston today. Am I the only MCO'er on the Faust?

Hi JB and gang!

Takamine to dock today....shipping site no help anymore, keeps downloading strange PC files that Apple Computers can't read...so...anyone have docking status of the Takamine. Ask Mini's Jen still shows old data, depends on who you get in the queue looks like....

As far as I can tell by the shipper's web site, it still hasn't docked, but I will (or someone will, I'm sure) post when it is confirmed docked.

I just call MINIUSA and for those of u who are at the VPC in bayonne, NJ should be seeing your mini by next week. They said that it takes about 4 days to get on a truck, so hopefully we will go through with no problems. We are so close.

I also just called ASKMINI and my MCS made to the VPC yesterday and there is a work order on it for today! Let's have a wild party this weekend but keep the honking down. Perhaps a week more until delivery!

Hi Miniron and Chips
Can't tell if the Takamine has docked yet or now. My mini still shows loaded on vessel. However I do notice that the shipping site now shows arrival AND departure today. Yesterday it said arrival today, departure tomorrow.

We are getting close!!!! We should be able to call MINIUSA Monday or Tuesday to get some more concrete information.

hbh170--- I was wondering if you could really hold off calling MINIUSA. It is too cool about the workorder!

For those on the Takamine
AskMini has verified the ship is in port, but there is no update yet about any vehicles being off loaded. I am sure that is a timing issue.

The person I spoke with mentioned that the VPC's nationwide are a bit backed up due to the Holiday crunch so........we will have to be patient. (me and patience don't normally get along though!)

I just called ASK MINI and found out that the work order has been printed for my baby. Not only that, I was told they'd likely get through the checklist this weekend and release him to the carrier early in the week. That means I might be taking delivery next weekend! I am so excited I could scream!

hbh170, I'm sure your MINI is having a blast partying with the group at the VPC. Let's hope they all behave themselves and don't show up with beer stains on their upholstry.

It is so terrific seeing everyone's updates posted. The camaraderie and sharing of information is making the wait much more enjoyable. We've surpassed 350 posts and 6000 page views. The January Club rocks!

Just checked the shipping site. No minis off loaded from the Takamine. Of course there could be update delays with different time zones and all. No matter what, it is a call to AskMini monday morning to get an official status!

Looks like alot of January clubbers are about to escape!

Just checked the Takamine cargo list. They have all Minis discharged at 10:42 am. boy, I hope the ship slowed down enough so they didn't bump into one another trying to get off at the same time!!!

I am starting to understand other months clubbers in that the closer their minis got, the more anxious one gets. I can only imagine how other January clubbers must feel who already have work orders and Estimated Delivery dates. Whew!

Hey, JB, your baby is back on solid ground and will be home soon! I know exactly how you feel about the possibility of going motoring next weekend.

My OL info was FINALLY updated last evening. Of course, it still has 1/6/03 as the delivery date, but at least it has been changed from "en route" to "at distribution center".

I am all set for this baby to arrive! I've got my new digital camera (for taking great shots to post on MCO), new GMRS radios (7 sub 21!), my down payment is all set, even got my last credit cards paid off last week so I can hopefully get a better financing rate. Now all I need is for Kevin, my Motoring Advisor, to give me the call.

HI Barky
Hope you get the call soon! Interesting that you had an estimated delivery date before the VPC. I don't have a date yet and was told that wouldn't happen until my mini got a work order from the VPC. soon though

I just recieved the car care goodies for my mini (Klasse high gloss sealant, P21S Carnuba Wax, 303 Aerospace protectant and microfiber towels)
I have even verified that the leather shift boot/**** and emergency brake boot/cover is in stock (Christmas gift from wifey dearest). Common Mini!!

Oh, yeah, another thing I have ready is my MINI's name! How could I forget that?

Early on in the process I was convinced my MINI was a girl. I kept referring to MINI as "she", but have gradually begun to think she is really a he. First, a little background...

I had decided some time ago to name the nav system Diane, after an unseen character on the TV show Twin Peaks. For those of you who are not Peaks Freaks, the main character was an FBI agent who had a habit of talking into a microrecorder to a never-to-be-seen woman named Diane (presumably she was his assistant). The concept of "the woman in the electronic gadget" seemed to fit nicely. So, Diane it was.

I wasn't planning on doing a Twin Peaks theme to my MINI, even though the FBI agent in the show was named Special Agent Dale Cooper. I was originally so convined my MINI was a girl, that the name just wouldn't have been right. Once I began to change my mind about the gender, it became clear to me that I had to name MINI after the main character: Agent Cooper.

Another nice link to Dale Cooper is that the character's regular attire was a black suit, and he has jet black hair. Well, my MINI is Jet Black with a black roof!

And here's an interesting side note: Kyle MacLachlan, who played Dale Cooper, has a brother who actually works for the same company I do. I don't know him personally, though, as he works in CA and I'm in Chicago.

OK, January Clubbers.....let's hear all about the names you've selected for your baby!

What a great Club. I'm just glad I'm not in it!

You're losing sleep for sure! But jbs111 has fallen into the money-pit of MINI-stuff, that's for sure. I did the same - bought a replacement antenna and a bunch-O-other stuff prior to delivery. It certainly makes you feel better with the "stuff" in your hands, even though there's no keys in your pocket.

Other good "buys" are: The Hot Box storage unit that fits in front of the lighter and cup holders and the Glove Box Organizer. That thing is a damn necessity, IMHO.

You will also consider the Moss skid plate at some point. Some of us think it's a required mod. Others disagree, especially if they plan to race their MINI. The skid plate adds 26 pounds. In Toronto's crap weather there was no second thoughts. I bought it and I'm happy.

After delivery you'll buy stuff for yourself as well as for you car. I got the MINI mug (with the orange trim), the cheapo orange plastic pen, and the MINI cuckoo clock is on hold for me at a local dealer. On delivery I was given the MINI keychain. If you don't get it for free, definitely buy it. It's cool and classy. And fun to play with when you want to show off a bit!

(And you MUST order the MCO T-Shirt, or you're a nobody!)

Anyway, try and stay calm as you slowly make your leave from a great Club.

Congrats, barky, for having managed a wily group of Club Members. They've done you proud!!

barky: Agent Cooper is perfect for your all black MINI.

Twin Peaks was a great show, as were most of David Lynch's projects (Blue Velvet, for example). Unfortunatley we can't say the same for the movie that followed.

I have a casette tape of Agent Dale Cooper's ongoing messages to Dianne. It fills in some of the blanks in the storyline, and continues after the show story. You might find a copy of it on eBay, I suppose.

One thing about Agent Cooper - you'll have to be careful with the coffee and pie in the car. You may want to eat in the Diner!

HI Barky
I have recently used Klasse on my other cars with great results. Really makes them shine. I have not tried a layer of the P21s over it the Klasse to give an even deeper shine, nor have I tried the protectant. I have read great things though and will be sure to let everyone know the results on my BRG/W Cooper.

as for a name... well trying to stay English, I have gone from Emily, to Watson to Granger to a new name every day. At night my wife and I spout names like they are going out of style, but just need to find a fit. I think once I get my Mini, a name will fall right into place.

Rygold.. Yep, it is the money pit for sure. Not since my first car in the late 70's (boy I am old), have I have had a vehicle that has so many accessories available for it. Sure is alot of fun!!

Hey, there, rygold! I love it when you stop by for a visit. You are the Grand Poobah of all the "Can't Wait for" clubs. Just look at what you started!

I have considered getting just about every item you mention. I thought I read in one of the topics that the more recent 2003 models were coming with better skid plates (or maybe I just dreamt that...oh, that would be a cross-topic reference! )

I agree the January Club is a pretty great (and wily) bunch of folks. Don't really know how much managing I've done, although I did manage to talk MotorinGirl into cleaning out the fridge!

Ugh, the movie was horrible. The only thing I enjoyed about it was David Bowie.

I'll have to look for that. I have the Laura Palmer diary and tape. Hubby just bought the entire first season on DVD (we also have it on VHS).

Yes, I can have a bear claw with the Log Lady! But before I eat it, I'll have to put my sticky pitch gum on the underside of the counter. I've been thinking of getting "Log Lady" on my license plate, but hubby isn't too keen on that!

"This is the log....do you know it?"

OOPS, I stand corrected...hubby just reminded me that the tape we have is not the Laura Palmer diary. It is the aforementioned Dale Cooper tape! I have a better TP collection than I thought!
