>>Barky,, you have managed us well. Someone had to keep us going. Not to mention starting the club!!
>>JB

Thanks for the kind words. But, jb, you've kept things going pretty good yourself! If I haven't said it before, thanks for all your contributions to the Club. Not to mention that comfy sofa you brought into the Clubhouse!

He brought in a sofa?

Wow - what luxury. The November Club had wicker and rattan chairs, and the wood stuff used to stick us in our butts! I've still got bruises and scratches!

Wow that is great!!! looks like alot of us are going to hit within a few days apart

Hey Barky
Thanks and not a problem on the sofa. I am just glad everyone has had somewhere comfortable to sit. I feel sorry for the November clubbers who have "splinter butts". I am just glad they didn't notice the sofa, otherwise it may have disappeared given their situation.
Maybe we should donate the sofa to the February clubbers when we turn out the lights!!

The club sure has surely has helped to make the wait less painful and alot more fun. A big thanks to Rygold for starting the "club" tradition. Or should we call it the monthly wait support group?
JB

Well I am happy for you all. I hope you will be enjoying you cars soon. I am still waiting, sure wish I had been on the ship with you but not to be. I did get my financing set Friday with my dealer. MINIUSA is giving a rate of 5.1% that makes things a little better.

I will let you all know when it finally gets in. The Hercules Leader has been delayed one more day. Who knows....

Let me know when you get you MINI's....I want to hear all about your experience of delivery.

Barky-
Check this out - I went to peoplefirst.com and got a 4.89% rate on my financing - when I stopped at Prestige today, they said if they could beat the rate, would I let them arrange the financing - I said sure - they said they would match the rate - now mind you, I was totally high at the time because I actually sat in my MINI at the dealership (not done being prepped), so I just said okay to their matching the rate. Upon reflection, I think they would have actually beat the rate if I had pushed them - anyhow, it is something to think about. Peoplefirst.com, by the way, actually gave me a decision in 20 minutes - the deal is they are going to send me a check to give to Prestige. In any event, I thought about pushing for a lower rate, but I am trading in a car, so I think they will just give me less on my trade in if I haggle on the financing rate, so I may leave well enough alone at this point. Sorry for the verbosity here - I'm still a little high, I guess.....

And, by the way, I did the same thing with my credit cards last week - I don't think it helped or hindered me, really.

Any date set yet?

I'm going Monday. Next purchase: FRS radio!

Hey Hazzard,
Our ship came in today (1/11/03) and sailed for it's next port. I guess our cars are finding their land legs. COOL !!!!!!!!! I sure hope they don't hang around the VDC to long. Let's all keep in touch. Anyone else come in on the Jingu Maru today?

Barky-
What a great name! I have been racking my brain for one, but can't quite get the right feeling - I love Hebrew names, and I love that they use some great boys names on girls, but I don't know if Hebrew really has the right spirit of my girl. I love names that you can't tell if they are male or female - even though my baby is definitely a girl - I actually like the name Cooper for human babies, but that won't be happening .... still working on it....

Also, I mentioned I sat in my car today - I cranked the HK system and it is amazing - I am so happy with that choice. Apparently my girl was the first in this dealership with HK, so the sales people have been checking it out - and loving it too.

Last thing - if anyone is getting the navigation - apparently some have english accents and some American - I'm glad I got English, but I'm curious to know if anyone knows what the deal is - the dealer didn't know....

Hang in there Minirolls. I can understand your frustration. I think we would all be feeling the same. Your day will come.

Sobelmini... interesting about the financing. I think there is a lot of game playing in the car industry about trade ins, financing, extras. It all boils down to how much commision someone is willing to give up.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!!

Maybe each "I Can't Wait For Club" should set a date and motor!

East/West or North/South or ?????

You folks with rally lights-Are they put on at the dealer or did you get to them on at the factory?

The plug in cooler rocks. Can't wait to fill it up

"Stealth" DS /B Cold-Premium-Sport,HK, NAV and a cooler....born 12/13 arrived USA 1/11 ...not even one month old!!!!!!!

Thanks for the great info about financing, sobelmini. I will try Peoplefirst, too. I'm putting down about a third of the total cost, which is a sizeable chunk because it is an MCS that is fully loaded with rallys and bike rack added. I am sure it must be one of the most expensive MINIs my dealer has sold. I don't have a trade in, as hubby is keeping his Z3 (living in the city for 9 years, we have only 1 car...until MINI comes!). Still, I think they should be able to meet or beat a rate that is better than the one MINI is giving.

That is also great news about the HK system. I'm still debating what will be the first music I play. The Twin Peaks soundtrack has some great music, but it's a bit dark and gloomy. I'd rather play something fun and upbeat that will give the system a good work out. Robert Fripp's album The League of Gentleman (yes, it's a bit obscure...Fripp was a member of King Crimson....oh, that might be a bit obscure, too) has some great driving music on it. The master just wasn't real crisp, so it won't give me a good idea of how great the system is. But I'm also considering Bowie, perhaps something from his Earthling album.

I too am happy to hear about the HK system. Great report sobelmini!
Like you, my mini was the first mini ordered at my dealership (irvine) with the HK system. Hope the team at Irivine doesn't crank it up too loud trying to learn about it.

Ive just noticed, only about 600 more views and we will meet the challenge of 7000 views set by Ryold.
Now, I also notice the February club is close on our heels. We can't let them pass us up until we turn out the lites on the club!!

Could it be close??
My Estimated Delivery Date was 1/2/03.
My mini landed on 12/25 in America and has been stuck at the VDC ever since.
The OL has now been updated to show the new Estimated Delivery Date of 1/14.
Will I have my Mini this Tuesday?
I will not get my hopes up. The past 2 weeks have been filled with anxiety, not knowing where my car is!

ok where have i been. got it! drove it! love it! finally got a day off form work and went to east bay mini and took deliviery of our new mcs. boy do they do a nice job of getting you aqainted with your new mini. very nice! we bought the mcs with brg and white checkered top. after the delivery was over we started to put miles on the mini beast. we drove through san fran, then on down the coast with just great driving weather. 65 degrees plus. took hyway 1 which is one of the best hyways in the us. the car was great fun and everything we had hoped for. now sherl wants to get one for herself. we finally arived in los angeles after a few days of leasurely driving. after a few days off had to go back to work but all in all we put 6days of driving and 750 miles on the new mini beast. and had a blast. so all you january club member we are out of here but the six months was worth the wait. we will keep up with all the latest things and keep the car up to date. cant wait till i can get out of third gear and 4500 rpm. maybe another week.

Wow, cuny, you're already more than half-way through the break-in period. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you got your 1200 within another week.

So the delivery presentation was pretty thorough? How long does it take and what can I expect? I can imagine that I'll be so excited that I won't remember a thing my Motoring Advisor says.

hi barky, got there at 2:00pm and left at 5:00pm. so you can see it was pretty detailed. i was glad they gave such a great presentation. i had read the manual and had taken the time to read most of the **** and things about the car. i got the multifuntion steering wheel and that took most of the time it is a neat wheel. also i wanted to look under the hood and they offered with out asking. i just wanted to get out and drive her but it was the best checkout for a car that i have ever received. i hope your dealer is as good as east bay was to me. then the car just behaves great. i would like to start to take it to some track events when i get about 3000 miles on it and find out how it handles on the road at limits.

Hi folk's,looks like we hit the VDC sometime last week.Looked at OL on Saturday night at about 11:00pm and then found it hard to fall asleep.I see that Sobelmini got a chance to check out his MCS pre-delivery.You didn't by chance see an EB/BLK MCS there did you? That could as well be ours.Looks like Prestige is your dealer too.Who is your motoring adviser?Ours is Adam, nice guy.All we need to do now is sell our 97 Chevy Tahoe and we are in.The trade in number was a little low so we are going to sell it on our own.Hope it goes before we get the call.I will be sad to see it go.Great truck.Anyway,we also did the HK,and so far it sounds like it was worth the wait.
We would like to thank everyone for all the support and information we have gotten from this site.We would also hope that everything goes smoothly on delivery. Thanks Jaydawg.HEY Sobelmini, maybe we will see you at Prestige some day.Enjoy!

Well, it looks like us "Takaminers" are going to have the same VPC delays as you Easterners have been experiencing. My mini was supposed to make it to the VPC yesterday, but according to MiniUSA, it is still standing in line waiting to get in.

Cuny: Congrats on your getting your mini. Looks like you are the first out of the January Club. Let's keep the trend going!!
