R50/53 Any "Can't Wait For January" Clubbers Out There?
Ah, I found the site. My hubby thinks the name of the boat looks like it has too many letters to be the Hual Triton (he thinks it's the Hual Trinity). Compare:

Congrats Barky! You are now, officially, a true MINIac!!!!
Besides that, just trying to be helpful to the January club members, just in case I might have to hang out with ya'll for a day or to

What's with all the "funny" boat names anyway?
Aren't any of these ships owned/operated by North American companies? And if not, why not? What am I missing here?

I noticed that most of the ships with names beginning with Hual have a second name beginning with T: Trinity, Triton, Trubadour, Trekker, Trailer, Transit, Tricorn, Traveller, Trotter, Triumph, Transita, Trove, Trader, etc. Off the top of my head, I can only think of a few that don't: Hual Asia, Hual Carolita, and Hual Favorita. Of course, there was the Hual Europe, but if I remember correctly it is no more, as it sunk not too long ago off the coast of Japan. Ran aground trying to outrun a storm, eventually caught fire and capsized.
As for why none seem to be owned by US companies, got me! My guess is that it has something to do with money.
BTW, I wanna know the proper pronunciation of "Hual". I've been saying "whaaal". :???: And, is anyone else out there scheduled to be on the Triton?

I'm pretty sure that Maersk is also not based in North America. And, I think most of the large cargo ships are built in Europe (a bunch in norway), hence the funny names. I think

I have just checked the shipping site and it looks like all of us who were previously booked on the Tricolor are now booked on the Terrier. Schedule is:
Arrive/Leave SOUTHAMPTON UNITED KINGDOM 19/12/2002
Arrive/Leave BRUNSWICK, GA U.S.A. 29/12/2002
Arrive/Leave MANZANILLO PANAMA 03/01/2003
Arrive/Leave PORT HUENEME, CA U.S.A. 12/01/2003
Arrive/Leave TACOMA, WA U.S.A. 15/01/2003 15/01/2003
Looks like a three day delay. I still feel very sorry for teams at the shipping company and for all those who lost their cars at sea. The impact is far reaching as I am sure many sales people and dealerships were counting on the revenue these cars would bring in at or near the Holidays.

HI JB
Thanks again for all your good research. The Voyage #, of the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Line's Terrier is ED250-TER. It looks like the older Tricolor booking number dates have been transferred in toto to the Terrier voyage. The initial link to the shipper is: http://www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com

You people are simply too prolific for me! I can't possibly keep up w/all these posts Our build date is 12/20 (as of Friday it was still status 150 and had been for some time) so she must be moving through the assembly system by now.
A few questions for those in the know:
1) I have our production # and VIN. At what point can I begin tracking through the shipping URL? What number does the web site take?
2) Anybody have any idea how long it will to take to get this car all the way to Milwaukee? Is the downed Tricolor (may she RIP) going to slow things down? Weeks ago, the dealer told me 6 weeks from the time it 'leaves the factory.'
Hats off to JB and Barky. You must not have kids!
Thanks ahead of time.
Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.

hey hazzard I have the same production date(12/20). I'm also trying to find out what ship I'll be on and when is it scheduled to be delivered amd how to track it. If you find any info out let me know. It is being delivered to NJ. Good luck!
Hi UncleAKA and Hazzard
I am on the west coast. With delivery to the port hopefully on the 12th of January, I am probably looking at about a January 25th delivery date.
Hazzard, as for tracking in the web site, I was not able to do this until I hit status 160. Just keep checking. It will show eventually.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think the Tricolor going down will affect any shipments except for those vehicles that were or scheduled to be on her.
Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how long transit from the ports to Wisconson is.
And you are right.... no kids at this end!!

The only way to track what boat you are going to be on is to check the shippers site. Also helpful if you call miniusa to check on the status (there are reams of paper work that have to be done before the MINI's can even get on the train to take them to the ship.). It would seem that the trip from South Hampton to the East Coast is about a week or so, and about a month to the West Coast. After it hits port, you can expect a 1 to 6 (
HI DB
Thanks for looking. I thought I was failing internet search 101!
It looks like there are 656 fellow Minis booked on the Terrier as of this morning. All are on "waitlist" status, which, (I think, only think mind you nothing solid to go on) means... gotta finish up the paperwork. The breakdown is:
Cooper - Manual Trans=160
Cooper Auto Trans=224
Cooper S=272
Total=656

I am status 193 and I can not find my MINI Cooper S on the Cargo Tracking Webpage using my VIN#. The message I got from MINI is that it is on the way to port of exit. Anyone know how long it will take before it shows up on tracking?
JB,
Thanks for your comment. I was using the entire VIN#. I found it now! I was booked today and scheduled to ship on the FAUST on voyage EB241-FAU. It leaves SouthHampton on the 27th and arrives in Charleston, SC on Jan 8th, and in Brunswick, GA on Jan 10th.

I don't think so...I found info about a terrier that was saved by a container ship, with pictures...info about sending your terrier on a container ship (no pics), and, apparently, the Terrier is also some type of missle system used to shoot at container ships!

will you let me in your club, i was in the nov and the december club looks like i need to be in january club. west coast kind of guy and built on oct 31 and in port of oxnard 1dec. still no dilevery scheduled to the dealer. they say when they are the first car on the boat it is the last off so it takes that much longer to get your car. so i hope you can handle another member.

Things have been really hectic since I got home from Seattle, so I haven't had much time to be on MCO. Have really been missing you guys. Thought I'd try to get caught up a bit on what's going on before hitting the hay.
JB, you have posed an interesting challenge. I have done some preliminary searching for a picture of the Terrier, but have had no luck. It appears db is far ahead of me in terms of quantity of information. It seems finding a picture may be the maritime equivalent of the holy grail (perhaps a shrubbery will do? NI!)
By the way, you are absolutely correct: no kids!
Cuny, you are most welcome to join the January Club. The dues are quite reasonable.
If your MINI shows up in December, we will even refund your dues.
My baby sailed from Southampton today on the Hual Triton. I am curious what other ships are en route with January Club members' cars? Let's do a little roll call:
Hual Triton
Terrier
Faust
Any others I'm missing?
