R50/53 Any "Can't Wait For January" Clubbers Out There?
Rygold, you set the pace in starting the club theme, and it has only continued to build. It is indeed amazing how the interest keeps building for these clubs. the clubs start earlier and more information being built, such as lists, statuses, etc really helps to pass the time.
As much as I like Canada.... I think I will stick to sunny Southern California where it is supposed to be 80 degrees today and tomorrow. Just perfect for motoring with the sun roof all the way open!!

Hi there all January Clubbers! Congratulations and thanks to you all for raising the bar higher than I ever thought possible (really, I was getting nervous about that 10,000 view goal!
Whew! Glad that little race is done. Now I can put my attention back on Agent Cooper!
And, as luck would have it, I just got a call from the dealer saying that the alarm came in last night and I can have it installed today. Whoopee!
And tomorrow, at 8AM sharp, the Chicagoland group is getting together for a little jaunt up to Delavan, WI for pancakes and MINI talk. It'll be Agent Cooper's first chance to visit with other MINIs since he left the dealership.

In checking our last "who's taken delivery" list of 1/23, it looks like 5 members were scheduled to take delivery since then. The clubhouse is emptying fast! I'll be sure to put up an update sometime this weekend.
JB, I keep going back to look at your pics of Fergie. Dang, that is one sharp looking MINI!

Hi Barky
thanks for the compliments. If I lived in Chicago, I would go for pancakes with the gang so you could see her in person!!
Today, another coat of wax and a motor run somewhere!!
Be sure and take pictures of the Chicago gathering.

Hi January'ers
Thanks for the hug, Barky. I'm feeling better.
I paid a visit to Moritz MINI this afternoon and talked to Rob and the MINI Manager. I am feeing more confident about getting the transmission replaced. They promised to have the service manager call me and explain what they will be doing. I should have the car no later than next Friday.
While, I was there, I test drove a Cooper 5-speed and a Cooper S for the first time. My impressions were wow, and WOW! Driving them back to back, I found the S's ride to be better, less jouncy, and the transmission smoother than the Cooper (which had sport suspension and 16-inch runflats). I made the right decision. The handling is nearly telepathic. I would think "I would like to be in that lane, and it would be like, oh look, I'm already there." Awesome.
Can't wait for next Friday so I can drive Lella with the new transmission. If for some reason, I don't get her then, I'll be dammed if I join that February club.
Full report then.

Hi Miniron
Almost there!! At least by going to the dealer today, you can get all the formalities out of the way. that way, at 3:35, you will be motoring!!
hang in there ElGuapo. Sure is alot better to find out the trouble now. Sure sounds like the dealership is doing the right thing in getting it all squared away before delivery. Some car dealerships would not even care.
Have a great Sunday everyone

It really makes all the difference when you get great customer service. Sounds like you've got a good dealer who wants to ensure their customers are happy.

Another loyal member!
I've got my fingers crossed that you'll have her even before the end of the week. Your dealer clearly wants to do the right thing and understands that you've been waiting patiently. I bet they put in the extra effort to get the job done ASAP.

I am happy to announce that, (drum roll please) I am outta this stinkin Club!
I picked up my BRG/B MCS Friday afternoon. My sales advisor was sick so another one helped me. Everything was fine until we discovered that the car had not been programmed and there was a small scratch behind the passenger's door. Since I live 220 miles from the dealer, I wanted everything taken care of before I motored home. I had to take the car to the BMW dealer associated with this Mini dealer as all the service on MINIS are done at that site. I then had to take it back to the MINI site to buff out the scratch. I was a little tired and angry, but my new sales advisor worked overtime to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. I was very impressed but it did point out that not all sales advisors are created equal and it helps to find a good one.
I was able to motor home to upstate NY on a beautiful sunny and relatively warm (23F degrees). I took Route 17 west which I think Mini USA recommends. It is a fun twisty four lane highway. I was excited to get home and show off the car to my wife and kids. I pulled into my driveway and immediately got the car stuck in the snow! My wife helped push me out. The performance tires are not good in the snow as we knew.
Jbs, your pictures are beautiful. I will have to post some as I am BRG with a black roof and mirrors. Right now the car is rather dirty so the pictures will have to come after a bath.
I do have the new alarm system. It is nicely integrated into the car. My only regret is apparently you cannot lock the car and turn off the system. I carry my dog sometimes and like to do this. My other regret is I did not get the Harmon Hardon system. Everything else blows me away about this car, I should of had the sound system so as well. Next time. This car is awesome as my son says.
Thanks for making all the waiting go easier. I will try and clean up after myself as I leave. I am thinking about coming to Wolfe Island meeting.

Good call, hhh!
The Wolfe Island Canada MINI Meet is taking amazing shape, with a possible appearance of the BMW Special Projects team at the track.
More news later, in the Wolfe Island MINI Meet thread.
Tell your friends. 50 hotel rooms have been blocked off. Email rygold@MINIac.ca to get on the list.
And - enjoy Mr. Bean - that's what this is all about!

As of 3:30 PST the 25th I am outa this stinkin' club!
While nosing around at the dealerFriday noon, (my day off), I was pretty sure I saw the MCS in the back lot, but I couldn't park close by to confirm the VIN. No sales staffers thought any cars had come in recently.
Duh...when keeping my Saturday 12:30 appt., only to sign the papers as it was not PDI'd yet, my Sales person was showing another new MC customer her new car, so I went back into the PDI shop area, and saw this beautiful dark silver MCS all polished on the floor, yes it was mine, the detailer came over and we chatted for a few minutes, I played with the HK for a while, all said and done I got out of the dealer driving for 1 mile to Mimi's cafe for a early dinner with the wife.
Our MCS now has a new name "MIMI" the MINI. I took a few quick and dirty pictures and will post them tonight or tomorrow. I then take some quality stuff ASAP.
Thanks to everybody, JB, Barky etc. We will keep the dream alive!

Congratulations to Miniron and Hbh170! Fantastic News! Both of you will be having so much fun today. And for Miniron, it is even better as you got the car earlier than anticipated. WoooooooooooooHoooooooooooo!! Now you two have to "park" your minis in the club. Can't wait to see the pictures.
Cami, you are so close. Hope the paperwork comes soon. Don't want to see you have to jump ship to the "other" club.
A couple of neighbors were walking by last night and saw Fergie in the garage. They both stopped and said "Oh my gosh, a cooper!! That is the coolest sports car around". Of course I just sat there straight faced....NOT
Hey Barky, when are we going to get to see more pics of Agent Cooper?

Just reviewed Barky's list. Looks like all of us will make it out of the club by the end of the month. Now Okie, gotta bug your dealer every day. We don't want you to have to visit February for even one day.

JB
Hi Okie
Hmmmm cough, cough, sniffle, sniffle.... aren't you feeling a bit under the weather to go to work Friday? Maybe a case of "mini influenza" is coming on.
Hope you get your mini soon.

Well I know mine will be here at the end of the month (1/30) but my dealer said they need 3-5 days to prep it for me (and I'm not even getting any add-ons). Hope they were just underpromising to overdeliver.
Of course it may not matter because I have run into a snag on my finances. I have most of the money in an investment account and even though I have now tried three times I still don't have any checks for it and may not be able to access the money right away.

Bonus good news. My estimated delivery date has been updated on the owner's lounge to 1/27. So even with the time needed at the dealer I am still an official member of the January club. (Take that CharesWill)
