I am out of here. Picked up Rudolph today, January 22, and immediately began his flight training. He is now fully checked out on navigating in a snow storm and is looking forward to making his rounds next Christmas.

Wow - over 9,000 page views, and still over a week to go. You will hit the "barky challenge" of 10,000. Certainly blew away the November Club challenge of a stinkin' 7,000 views. MCO seems to owe much of it's "post" success to the CWF Clubs.

It's the List Keepers that have emerged that AMAZE me. Who would've thought that such detail could be culled and organized. I don't even remember there being a bulletin board in the Clubhouse. However, way back in November we didn't even have electricity, so the board might've been there, but we didnt' see it!

I'm proud to be an honorary member of this Club. And no, that's not my sandwich on the floor. The November group cleaned up quite nicely, thank you. Blame December. Always blame December!

I'm not positive, but I think the January Club may be the first topic in the history of MCO to achieve 10,000 page views. January is a special month for MCO: the 5000th member joined, the site had its 50,000th post, and *hopefully* the first 10,000 view topic.

By the way, the HK review is coming soon, but here's a preview: IT ROCKS!

It has been snowing here since Monday and snow in the forcast for the next week. We have had 90+ inches so far this season. I guess I cannot wait for a nice day to bring my MCS home. Those bun warmers certainly will be handy.
An aside to barky, I live about 6 miles from Porter elementary. My daughter was bused there one day a week in the second grade for a program for gifted students. Budget cuts has ended the program. Interestingly, my Mother came from Chicago. Most of her family is still there.

Have fun Motoring this weekend. I think my Mini will be in the garage for a while since we do winter so well here.

I asked my hubby for some help on the HK review, as he is the audiophile in our home:

Here are my first impressions. Perhaps I'll be able to provide a more precise review after I've given the system a real workout. Not sure which features are HK specific and which features are on the standard system. I assume that only the amplifier and the digital signal processor effects are HK speciic. Noticed that the front panel controls and the 6 CD changer are identical to other BMW audio systems. I have never known BMWs to offer in-dash CD, so it was nice to see both in-dash and a 6 CD changer in a
single system.

Much of this may be the same for all MINI audio systems.

Regular radio functions:
1) was pleased to find that AM radio could be picked up clearly in an underground garage, where my BMW gets only static.
2) nice to see RDS data on the FM dial for some stations, showing station call letters and genre.
3) excellent, clear FM reception
4) no way of adding satellite radio or mp3 player yet (not until a MINI aux kit becomes available for this system or we experiment with 3rd party add-ons).

Controls:
1) boring display and awkward layout, just like all BMW systems
2) nice to have mode, CD track controls, and volume on the steering wheel

Amplifier:
1) Did not spend more than a minute toggling between the different sound patterns, which are Mini h/k, Spatial, Electronic, Instrumental, Festival. It all sounded great, but I kept it on the Mini h/k setting most of the time. Will definitely experiment with this over the weekend.
2) No distortion. I created a CD, after running songs through a sound editor to maximize dynamic range. Played the CD at maximum volume, and noticed that there was no distortion, not even in the heavy bass I had chosen. The volume did not reach concert level, but still, my eardrums were being punished a little.

The owner's manual offers absolutely no specification data. In fact, the manual is about as generic as the appearance and interface of the system. However the performance is better than any car stereo I have ever had.

Barky,
Thanks for the welcome. I have been amazed at how well you guys find out information on your mini. I wouldn't have been able to track mine half as well without you. I only wish I had more info on when to expect mine now. Ask mini keeps telling me that the average stay in VPC is five days but as mine has been there since the 16th it is already over that. Plus the fact that it took six days to get from the dock to the processing center killed me.

I was doing really well waiting but now the closer it gets the harder it is. I think if I had an estimated day it would help but know one can tell me that info.

Anyone else in the club waiting for delivery in Colorado?

Hi Barky:

Super job on making us drool over the HK system. When you burned a CD and played it, was that in the changer or the slot on the HK face?

I heard from my dealer the HK by itself will not play a CR-R disc.

Keep on motoring!

HI Barky
Thanks for the updated list.
I have to agree with your assesment of the HK. The guys at the dealer were just blown away. My mini was the first to arrive with the system in Irvine. I have only fiddled with mine a bit, but whew, what a performer!! Plus the speaker covers look so much better than the stock covers. Like you, I will have to experiment this week. Taking tomorrow off to wash, wax/seal(Klasse brand), wax/seal again(Klasse brand), and wax again (P21S Carnuba). Then, it will be ready to face the "bird bombs" here in Southern California!!

Reb
Hang in there. Mine sat in the port for a number of days, then at the VPC for a week before a work order was printed. However, once the work order was printed, boom it went right through. MiniUSA has the best info. The owners lounge still shows my mini at the VPC and it is sitting in my garage!

Santa- Congrats on your baby!!! Keep Rudolph flying high. Don't want to be left out next Christmas!!

hbh... careful in the snow. You and your mini will do great!

Hey clubbers, have you seen how many page views the February club has? They are catching up quick and will be setting the pace. The march clubbers have quite a time ahead of them!
Of course, Barkys club had to set the pace for 9,000 views. Someone had to show the clubbers how it is done!!

Have any of the recently exited clubbers checked out the interactive CD that came with your mini?
Mini did a fantastic job on reinforcing all the points of features and how to use them on the CD. Sure has helped me to better understand all the functions.

Ahhhh JB and fellow discover'ers of the fountain of youth, a new MC or MCS...

JB, any photo's of the BRG?

Heard from my dealer tech, that the aux input is really a 16 pin harness that fits in the back by the HK amp and/or the glove box location for a stereo mini jack. It sounds like it is any day now the dealers will have it. As it was supposed to built into the car after HK 12-2 productions, and didn't, it should be a no fee upgrade. But then again, another wait,.... could be worse, they might have been on the Tricolor! Remember her?

As I have to get up at 3:30 Sunday a.m. & go to work, I will only have about 6 hours of mortoring on Saturday, but oh how I've dreamed about those first 6 minutes (never got out of 2nd gear) now I have six hours or reality coming....oh my...its almost swoon time

CD-Rs work in BOTH. In the showroom, I played my first CD-R in the dash with no problem. I've now placed four CD-R disks in the changer and they work fine there as well. For what it's worth, I used the silver 700 MB CD-R disks by Imation.

Reb, you are absolutely right. The final days are by far the hardest. I have to admit, I was so worked up by the day of delivery, I was close to tears on the ride to the dealership. Then I got hold of myself. I thought, geez, why am I getting so worked up over a car? Of course once I saw Agent Cooper, I was so excited I squealed with delight! As you wait through these last days, just think about how sweet it will be to get behind the wheel.

Miniron, thanks for the info about the aux input. Hubby was glad to hear it.

I know there's been discussion on and off on MCO about the MINI alarm system. When I took delivery on Monday, the customer service guy told me he had 4 in stock and would be getting about a dozen more in very soon. So I've arranged to take Agent Cooper back in on Saturday to have it installed.

I am also planning on getting a LoJack in the near future, thanks to hubby. He has this theory: since the MINI can't be hotwired, a car thief would have to get the key to steal it. If the car thief has the key, then he probably has me as well! So the LoJack is not really to recover Agent Cooper, it is to recover me.

Attention all January Club members!

Have any of you been monitoring the February Club? I occasionally take a peek, just to see what's going on. Well, as of late, there's been quite a lot of conversation about catching up and passing the January Club before the end of the month. Now, I don't mind them passing us by after January 31st, but I'll be a monkey's uncle if they do it before the month closes.

Unfortunately, they are happy to fill their clubhouse with fluff, which has resulted in their catching up to us quickly. So all you lurkers and infrequent posters, jump on in! And all you regulars, we want to continue to hear from you, too. Just because you might have announced "I'm Outta This Stinkin' Club" doesn't mean you still can't come by for a visit.

Help us be the first club to reach 10,000 posts!

Hey Barky and all the January clubbers,

I just found out from Rob at Moritz in Arlington, that "Lella" my chili red/white MCS with Harmon Kardon, arrived via truck at the dealer today! He promised to have her prepped and polished and waiting for me on the showroom floor Saturday afternoon!

Can you feel me vibrating with excitement?

Thanks to all you guys for the support, good info, and all around good karma while I've been waiting.

Look for a full report and pics this weekend (If I can stop motoring that long)

>>
>>So are we challenging each club and the first club to 10,000 views wins. 10,000 posts would kill anyone since both clubs are in the 500's.
>>
>>What will the prize be??? The losing club cleans up after the winner!!!!!!

I stand corrected. In my excitement I said 10,000 posts instead of 10,000 views.

We still love you mini-rolls, even if you do hang out with that "other" club.

That's good news! Looks like your estimated date was right on the mark. Be sure to let us know how the delivery goes and be sure to make your "official proclamation" here in the clubhouse.

Please also fill out a review in the Dealer Rating System. Motor on!
