I didn't see a thread for July builds, which as near as I can tell are the first '05 to come off the line. So, here we go!


05 MCS Purple Haze white roof. All three packages. Rain sensing headlights. Production number of 7443667 and a "supposed" build date of 7/04.

As yet unnamed, but will reside in Des Moines, Iowa. Well, actually Altoona which is a suburb, and will share a house with 2 87 Buick Grand Nationals, a 1989 Mustang convert, a 1929 Chevrolet/Pirsch fire truck, Honda ATV, JOhn Deere lawn tractor, Ducati Monster 900 Dark, a Shelby Cobra and a F250 crew cab pickup.

Selling my wife's 2003 WRX for the MINI....I think it is a good trade

Count us in as well. We haven't received the actual week of production date yet, but our dealer said it would be in July, with an arrival date of August/September.

"Jimmy" an 05 Cooper, Purple Haze, Black Roof and Mirrors, Premium Pkg, Sport Seats, Fog Lights, Anthracite Dash, was ordered 6/21/04. We have received our Production number and we been on MINIUSA to register.

We live in Northern CA, Yuba City (40 miles north of Sacramento). We share a house with a 2001 Tundra, a Cannondale Tandem Bicycle, and of course my husband's guide dog and two cats. The kids are all grown and out of the house (Yahoo!), I mean I sure miss those darlin's.

We will not be trading in our truck, I love it too much (plus it will be impossible to haul around our tandem in the Mini). Getting this Mini is our way of celebrating our new childless adulthood and for successfully raising five children, his, mine and ours. It is our turn to burn up the highway.

 

I have a Chili Red MCS, body color top & dash, chome exterior & interior treatment, premium and sport packages, leatherette, black stripes. First mod will be replacement of the stock wheels with BBS RGR Silver 17". Just says scheduled for production right now.

My last car was a 1961 Karmann Ghia convertible, also with a body color dash, also red. Hope this one is a little more dependable but just as fun! :smile:

I'm still undecided on the headlights...guess its one of those wait and see in person type of things.....

Does anyone know of a way to track the cars within the factory so you know what stage they are at?

FF2-EMTB, you will need to contact MINIUSA to get that information. Here is some additional information I read on the MINI2 site:

Be prepared to give them your 7 digit production number, or once it's been assigned, the last 7 characters of the VIN for your MINI. Since they have access to the same order tracking system as your dealer, they can provide the most up-to-date information on the status of your MINI before it departs the UK and after it arrives in the US. The only reasons to call your dealer after you've received a production number is to change or correct the specs on your MINI before it's scheduled for production, or to find out when you can pick it up after it arrives at your dealer.

The following numeric status codes are commonly used internally to track the progress of your MINI:

037 Order is at BMW NA (On Order)
087 Production Week Assigned
097 Order sent to factory
111 Order Accepted at factory
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started (Scheduled for Production)

You will also be able to track your Mini's voyage across the Atlantic at:

Once your MINI is built and released to distribution, it is transported from the factory by auto transport truck to the port at Southampton. From there it will make the voyage across the Atlantic aboard a Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessel to one of three US ports of destination ... New York, Charleston (SC) or Port Hueneme (CA).

Once you have an estimated production date listed at MINI USA's Owners' Lounge, and even before production has started, you can find out on which vessel your MINI might be booked. Just click on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site to do a Search by Ports from the drop down menu to see which vessel leaves Southampton after your estimated production date and is bound for one of the three ports adjacent to a Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) closest to your dealer. That means the ports of either New York, Charleston SC, or the single west coast port of Port Hueneme CA.

Since estimated production dates have been know to ping-pong, it's probably less stressful to wait until your MINI has been assigned a VIN number and has started production. Then you can click Auto at WW Cargo Tracking and use your MINI's entire 17 digits (alphanumeric) VIN as the Cargo ID (it used to work with only the last 7 characters of the VIN). Tracking will display a Cargo Status History, showing your MINI as one or more of the following:

• BOOKED
• RECEIVED AT TERMINAL
• LOADED ON VESSEL
• DISCHARGED (at Port of Destination)

Having your MINI BOOKED and RECEIVED AT TERMINAL does not ensure it being LOADED on the specified vessel. Some MINIs have even been LOADED only to be REMOVED and then BOOKED on a later departing vessel. To avoid frustration, check to see that your MINI is still LOADED a day or two after its intended vessel departs Southampton.

Other interesting information listed on the Cargo Status History is Vessel, Voyage ID and Booking Number. Clicking the Voyage ID will display the sailing schedule for your vessel. You can also go back to WW Cargo Tracking after your vessel has sailed and then track by Booking Number to find out how many other MINIs are onboard with yours. For those with too much time on their hands, visit this US Coast Guard site to find your MINI-carrying ship's "call sign". Then, with the call sign in hand, visit the Ocean Weather site to look for your ship's call sign and current location at sea by scanning the Marine Observations pages.

Hello all- I am scheduled for production in July also. This is my second time threw this waiting process, I was a May build but there was a problem and I was unable to take delivery. Now don't worry, it was one of those, what are the chances of that, type situations.

Anwho...74562XX is my number, I have ordered LY/B MCS, premium, sports (-17's) anthracite, black letherette, HK, I think that covers it.

By the way, tracking can make you go a little crazy

 

Just called and mine is "In production. Estimated completion date is July 1, 2004."

I better post on this thread before it gets so huge that I get intimidated.

I ordered my MCS over Memorial Day weekend from MINI of Pittsburgh.
I got: LY/B, Premium, cold weather, leatherette, Harmon Kardon, Xenon, the garage door opener thingie, body color dash and black bonnet stripes.

I haven't picked out a name for it yet. (Here's an idea: Somebody ought to publish a book of car names in the same vein as the many baby name books on the shelves :smile: )

The MCS will be replacing my 1993 Mercury Topaz. Ya know, I think I just may be trading up . My husband drives around in a 1999 Honda Civic Si. We'll keep that around for at least a little while longer.

I'm sure the wait is killing everyone, but September/October should be here before we know it.

 

In other news, it looks as though I will be on my honeymoon when this car is delivered (September). However, I've had no shortage of friends volunteer to accept delivery of the car and "take care of it" while I'm away.

 

I ordered a 2005 MCS Purple Haze/white roof, with white wheels, Sport Package, Premium Package, Anthracite Headliner and trim, Chrono package, HK stereo upgrade, Octogon red cloth/black leather seats, white bonnet stripes.

Chrono package is supposed to move the speedo to over the steering wheel. I have not seen anyone else order this package - should be interesting.

No number or production date yet.

Purple with red interior. Hmmm, those yellow Panasport wheels might work......




The car will have to live with a 1961 VW Cabriolet, a 1965 VW Cabriolet, a 1996 Land Rover Discovery, 1998 VW New Beetle, 2003 Honda Element, 2001 VW Passat 4-Motion, 1991 Mercury Capri XR2 Turbo, Cub Cadet Diesel Tractor, and some roller skates.

We ordered on 6/21/04, and received our production number on 6/23/04.

 

We ordered in April expecting an '04, but with the '05 production starting soon, we said to hold our order til the '05 started getting production numbers.

I'm starting to rethink LY. But I can't figure out what other colour I would want.

Vandals? Is there a post with the whole story? That sounds awful.

(And I ordered in April from Julie at Classic Mini. I originally had a May build but also bumped it to get the 2005 model.)

 

We have a week 30 production but don't have a # yet. Will keep checking here to see who else joins in. Should have delivery late Aug/early Sept. Can't wait!

NOOOOOO! Don't give up on the LY. It's the only color out there. Remember, it's all about sticking out in a crowd.

Picking a color is probably the hardest decision of all. For me, it was a toss up between LY and CR. I also liked some of the blues, but I didn't really want to pay $400 extra for metallic paint. I finally settled on the yellow simply because it is more unique. That said, color choice is a strickly personal preference, so get whichever color moves you.

 

Well I feel as though I have already had a LY/B MINI. Although I never saw it in person. maybe yellow is bad luck for me that is why it got ruined. I don't know I really just need something new to obcess about I think I'm scheduled for week 31 so I have a two to three weeks 'til production begins.

Other colours that interest me and why I don't want them...
Pure Silver/ Black, I like it 'cuz it is classy looking, don't like it 'cuz I think it is silly to pay more for metalic, also kinda boring.
Chili Red w/ black or white...pretty, but never really liked red cars, also too common in this area.
Pepper White/black...a mini in formal wear. But still, a white car, boring.

If they still had that seafoamish green I would get that with black but they don't, I also really liked the velvet red...it's gone too. Looks like yellow wins.
