This is not my month...

Monty is BADLY injuried. Some vandals were throwing brick at the new service dept. where he was parked and they hit him several time. torn left rear corner panel, busted up drivers side door, and the drivers rear window was destroyed. I guess I have to wait until august now. Poor Monty.

I can't believe this, everything went so well, now no mini.

OMG!!! You have GOT to be kidding. That is terrible...what are the odds? I hope the dealer gets things put right, and quickly. I think I would have been institutionalized if that had happened to Owen.

Bastards! Sometimes I wonder what the heck is going on these days. I hate when people get their jollies by screwing things up for other people. I feel like beating somebody up and it wasn't even Padre who got damaged. If they were here and got caught, I'd make sure they served whatever is the maximum. Maybe since it happened in Texas, they can get the death penalty. Even that's too good for them.

Lets pick a day for my wife and I to come over and taste some wine while riding in Padre. Maybe that will help us pass the time and plot our revenge. When you finally do get Monty, it will be that much better, I hope!

Cheers,

NO Joke

Sorry I wish I were joking. I have to make a decission as to whether I will reorder and get an '05 for august delivery, or let them try and fix it, which they are confident they can, or just skip it all together. I may call Classic see when they can get one at the soonest, but I am guessing it is not before august. So do you all think I should re-order, it's not a new car anymore, this isn't an upsidedown badge, this is a huge problem. I wanna go home and shake in a corner.

If you are strapped for cash, perhaps they would cut you a deal on getting Monty fixed? But I know what you mean about it not being a new car. To get an 05 in August delivery is actually really fast!!!

If you call Classic, ask for Julie and tell her you know Dobby's mom. Although August delivery seems awful fast......

I still can't believe this happened to you

Oh, golly, winechic -- that sucks soooooo mightily! Mean, bad, stupid people.

Ok, WRT the 05 build, dealers are getting them in August (or at least mine is). I would (not that you need my advice):

1) Decide if you want the 05 build (slightly different trimlines). If you do, go ahead and go for that.
2) Call NA headquarters (866-ASK-MINI). Cry a bit. They are sweeties there (ask for Marty, ext. 8566). Ask what can be done...
3) If you want to keep Monty, press your dealer for incentives ... nice that they'll fix it and all that, BUT it's not yours until you take delivery and you can refuse to take delivery if you want. Given that you'd be buying a vehicle that's already been "through trauma, what will they do for you? Deliver it to you? Take $XXX off the price? Throw in a (fill-in-the-blank here...european parcel shelf, floor mats, etc.)

Just my $.02, YMMV...

And my condolences.

OH GOD NO!

Do they know who is responsible? I think I would personally drive to CA and show them what the bottom of my tires feels like.

That could not possibly happen at a wose time, when it is that close, you have every right to be depressed for a month!

Grr that is gonna **** me off for the rest of the day. What the hell is WRONG with people????

Thanks Pete-
I do think that capitol punishment is a bit harsh in this case. I have decided that I will call my cousin tonight and ask if I can take his darn near I dentical to monty Mini for a spin just to help me through.
And anytime you wanna do some winetasting, I'm in.

Back to my corner I go to shake and cry.

Unbelievable bad luck, winechic! What can we do to cheer you up? Maybe you'll be the first MayDayer to motor in a 2005?!
I think your dealer should be on the computer and the phone to every dealer in the country plus Canada and Mexico NOW to find you an exact replacement and ship it to your doorstep pronto.

It's really not the dealers fault. though the f'ers who did it should carry the new one on their backs from TX to CA when it is delivered.

D: Damn - OL moved my delivery date back 2 days to the 18th!

WineChic: I'm so sorry to hear that! My co-worker and I agree with Sharky - even though it's not the dealer's fault (unless they gave someone the worst service of the century), going that extra mile is part of the motoring spirit.

Hi WannaMini - yes please, add me to our lsit. I would like to stick around. I am so sorry for winechic and poor wounded Monty, and know that if anything bad happens to Livia I will need all the support I can get.

This is a caring bunch, and I'd love to be a regular part of it.

OMFG, WhineChic. Thisis just too freaky & cruel to be believed.

If your dealer has a GOOD repair shop, they'll be able to fix up Monty so you won't be able to tell he'd ever been hurt. All of the repairs should be at the dealer's expense--that's what they have property insurance for. Meanwhile, at the very least, the dealer should provide you with some freebies to keep you sane until Monty's mended.

Hang in there, and keep us updated on your decision.

Lots of hugs in your general direction.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The damage is rather extensive thus I believe I will be going with re-ordering. C'est la vie. Just another month or two of waiting. I'll give my new prod.# when I get it, lucky me, I get to bug the folks at ask mini again.

You're in! Hey, weren't there others on the JUPITER DIAMOND? I think it's already landed and I took away the ship name on the tracking post. Anyone know? Jupiter Diamond? Is HarborGirl's MINI on US soil?

Well, I hope they at least bump you to the front of the line for the '05. Still can't *believe* what happened...but maybe you're destined for this other, yet-to-be-born MINI. Good luck!

WineChic,

I guess it's best to start with a clean slate so you don't have any reservations about your decision. However, you are now and will always be a Maydayer to us. I think this could be a good way to keep track of each other while we track your new car. (Is this Monty Jr.?!?) I like your awesome attitude about the setback so if they catch the jerks, I won't push for the death penalty anymore. We'll have them turned over to you and let you decide the punishment.

Here's to another chapter in your MINI adventure.

Cheers,

P.S. Padre is getting his tinted glasses (he's nearsighted like me) and his California flag put on today. If I can figure out the techno details, I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Hey winechic, sorry to hear about Monty! Although there is alot of damage to the exterior, I highly doubt that you would even be able to tell when they repaired it. Since it wasnt in an accident or anything, the frame should all be intact and no real metal should be bent. All they would have to do is replace a few parts and voila... good as new! If the car has been slammed into a wall that would be a completely different story all together. But since its only external damage I would opt to keep this car if I were you.

Its your call in the end and im sure whatever you chose will be the right one. Peflores mentioned wine tasting... do you have a vineyard? If so, would me and my girlfriend be able to come up sometime? Id love to give you a ride in my new baby.

[QUOTE=winechic]Monty is BADLY injuried.

WineChic, I am so very, very sorry. Having just read to the end of the thread, I now know that you plan to reorder. That's probably for the best (if you can imagine any best right now). When Elspeth was ready for me to take her home. I took my other car to CarMax for an appraisal. She was beautiful, a gold Solara with ivory leather interior. I have never seen another one just like her, and we had taken impeccable care of her too. However, she had had some hail damage on her hood and roof, which had been carefully repaired (insurance). The appraiser at CarMax said she had "extensive paint damage" and labeled her condition as Good, instead of Excellent. So even though Monty's frame was not damaged, someone down the road might make you pay. But do reorder; you will LOVE having a MINI-pet. Good luck. Keep us posted.
