R50/53 May 2004 Build...anyone else? Wanna track each other's prog
Hey, Jim, are you in an '06 now? Do you miss your '04 at all?
How is everyone! We are motoring just fine with Inspection 1 coming up tomorrow and having other things looked at. Dobby's been just a little sick lately. So we will get him all fixed up tomorrow!
I need to get a picture of Ben riding in his car seat in the back of the MINI!

All is well with Stan. He's a great ride. (OK--the GP is a freakin' awesome ride. Quick, responsive, smooth & powerful.
)
See my new sig pic--Ollie was on the lot at the dealer's when I stopped by on my way back from Monterey/Santa Barbara/Vegas with Stan.

Hey! I'm at 35K and change - gonna try to see if I can get another free oil change before I hit 36K on the service warranty haha
In other news, I have started autocrossing Dobby, and he and I are having an ABSOLUTE blast! I am really terrible though to start out. You think you are this great driver on the street, master of taking turns fast and slaloming in and out of traffic. An autocross course can be SO humbling!!!
Here is a pic for anyone interested!!!
But I LOVE this car. Next to my baby boy (who now rides in a Recaro car seat that is blue and black and matches the MINI perfect!) and my husband, I'd have to say that Dobby is next on the list.
Everyone else, CHECK IN!!!

Hi gang-
Scoop is great!!!
He is at home in his cover resting while I am in New Zealand. I've been travelling since April last year with only a few brief visits to my little car. the last was over easter and I tell ya, the right side of the road felt so wrong :impatient ....Lots of classic minis here, the new BMW MINI is expensive as... Looking forward to getting back to the states and my car (and Family and friends
) Someday, maybe soon?
Oh yeah, Scoop has about 32K.
Anyone go for extended service warrenty? Worth it?

I can't believe this thread is still going... I'm not much of a poster, I think it's probably been since we were all tracking that boat across the Atlantic in '04.
Believe it or not, I'm only at 27k miles... victim of a short commute and three kids. Nice that I have a car that will not accept my entire family. Someone has to stay home, or ride in the other car. a MINIvan, surprise surprise.
I'm about to replace tires for the first time. My OEM Dunlop run-flats are completely shot. I've spent this afternoon reseraching threads here on tires and found some great info. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co....php?p=1543875 - that one was extremely helpful.
Besides the tires, I'd like to do a short-shift next. Anyone else done this? Does anyone else agree with me that the biggest shortcoming to our cars is the stock shifter? My shifter is a sloppy wreck. The dealer told me "they're all like that."
good to hear some recent updates from everyone.

Great that people are checking in...
Yes WannaMINI I'm here making wine. I quit my job in the states about 15 months ago and my fella and I have been travelling since. Pete from this thread and his wife helped inspire us to acutally do it. has been great.
At any rate... I have been in NZ since january and really like it here but we will be heading back to the states in the next month or two. Have to go home some time.
Glad all is well with you all.

Since the other Maydayers are checking in....
Hows everyone doing? Charlie & I are still going through the modding process (exhaust, pully and springs are sitting in my living room, much to the dismay of the wife). But I do have to fix his first real dent - damn shopping carts
.
Hope you all are doing well & still happily motoring!!

Anyone still here on NAM? Check in!
My signature says it all! Can anyone believe it's been 6 years?
So the spooky thing - "Dobby" went into production on 4/29/04. "Snape" went into production on 4/28/10. FREAKY!!!!!
So I'm revisiting, going back through the old thread to see when it started production, when it caught a ship, and now I'm back looking at shipping schedules again and the like! Really takes me back!

I haven't been on NAM in forever. I got the notification email for this thread and then had to re-set the password for my login, since I'd forgotten it.
Pigwidgeon is still motoring along, though.

We're still motoring along.
We made it through two car seats in the back of Pig and are now back down to one. Hooray! Front passenger seat is now reasonably comfortable again, so we can all fit in the MINI for the first time in a few years.
Pig has become my everyday car as our family size has grown. Still so much fun to drive
