I would say 2 minutes. Impressive to me, my Focus would blow cold air for over 10 mins.

Yeah, VW got so many complaints about the original Beetle having bad heating, that they made sure that no future VW ever shipped without a convection oven attached behind the dash. :D

Niello has a mixed reputation. Lot's of people don't like them because of the markup for new cars. I have had very good experiences with Niello and their service dept. The v 38 got rid of the rough idle and although I thought the problem was back, they also seem to have gotten rid of Padre's right turn click. They were very responsive and concerned with getting any problems fixed to my satisfaction.
Let us know if you come out, we'll buy the first round of pints at Streets of London Pub. We're hoping to find a weekend day sometime in December to hit wine country. I'll pm you if something looks good.

Cheers,

Seat heaters are amazing, too. They heat up almost instantly. I'm quite happy that we got them.

I've never understood true love for a car before Dobby. So my hubby to be was actually jealous that I spent three hours with Dobby two weeks ago on a Sunday.
Nice to hear from you again WannaMini! Especially since you (and your enthusiasm) are responsible for the forming of the Maydayers. Does that make you our Founding Mother? It's great that you and Dobby are getting along so well. If your fiance ever gives you any trouble, you can always say, "Why can't you be more like Dobby?" I'm sure he will love Dobby just as much as you do if you ever let him drive.

Cheers,

Votes for Aiello?

Hey Tom & Cheri,

There is a guy named Jim Aiello running for City Council here in Sacramento. Do you know him? If you do, should I vote for him or not? With a name like Aiello I'm afraid he just might be crazy and spend his free time jumping off of tall buildings and things. Let me know if he's your smart cousin or crazy cousin or both.

Cheers,

Jim Aiello?

I've never heard of him. That probably means its safe to vote for him, as he probably won't be throwing himself off the buildings downtown. Still, there are a lot of Aiello's from the Antioch area who've made their way up to Sac, so it's possible that he's some distant relation of mine...

My point/question........is the mini heater instant hot, or should I prepare to freeze for a few miniutes before being thawed?
Mine is pretty much instant warm...granted, coldest morning thus far has been 37 degrees. But I turn the heat and defrost on while rolling back out of the driveway, and within two blocks I'm getting warm air, and then fairly toasty air by the time I'm out of the neighborhood.

Wow...this thread is still going. Go Go Maydayers. Even though I'm not technically a maydayer (4/20 born on date), I made a home here. Yomiko is one happy Cooper. I gave her a wax the other week, she was happy and shiny and smiled a lot. My commute to work takes me through the fun twisties every morning, it's mostly smiles until I catch up to some SUV that can't go more than 20 less it rolls over.

The car is a blast, I never pass up a chance to drive, and grin a lot. Glad to see were still going strong. She hit 7000 miles last night, and waves Hi to all of you.

Winter arguably makes me a little nervous...the tires on Yomiko aren't rated at all for winter, so we'll have to see what happens. I may need a new set of shoes come snow time.

Just thought I'd say hi!

I haven't heard it yet...it's said 39 two mornings, but not yet 37!
Does the bong change to a scream when it drops below zero?

I think you may find that new cars warm up faster... my theory is because the engine has more friction... and takes longer to warm up as the car ages (and breaks in), but still has a good cooling system.

My 2001 toyota pickup (most recent new car/truck) used to warm up very quickly... now at 50,000 miles it's a lot slower.

It would concern me if a well broken in car produced heater heat nearly instanty.

Anyone else experience the same?

It bongs?? I hear the bong from the fuel gauge dropping too low but I haven't heard it from the temperature being too low.

Yeah, mine has bonged the last 3 days, since it's been pretty chilly - I think the highest temperature I've heard it bong at is about 37 degrees f. It bongs, and the OBC flashes the temperature for a couple seconds.

Hey Jimskater,

How did the parade go? Do you have any pictures to post for us to check out? Did you get to drive Miss Borrego in the parade? My Dad paints houses out in the desert and I have lots of relatives in the Temecula/San Diego region. I love the fall colors of all the trees up here in Sacramento right now but I'd love to see some pics of MINIs in the desert too.

Cheers,

Parade was fun. 25 MINIs showed up. Had a blast doing loop-dee's right down the center of the street. No Miss Borrego, but I did get to see the Beaver. Jerry Mathers was grand marshal of the parade.

<----forgot the camera.

Jimskater- Sounds like a fun time, if you come across pictures from others who attened we would love to see. So funny that the Beave was the grand marshall. The guy who was the kid from lassie sells realestate here.....Timmy? I donno.

Anyhow glad you had a fun time in the parade. I love to see this thread up and running still! Maydayers kick but!

Charlie hit 8000 miles last night. Almost ready to be garaged for the winter, though. Time to break out my del Sol as my winter car (quit laughing).

Yeah, I know, a convertable as a winter car, but it gets 10mpg better than Charlie and I really don't care what happens to it. Charlie on the other hand deserves lots and lots of love and attention and absolutely no PA snow and salt.

Driving in the snow is one of my favorites...I would never lock my MINI away from all the winter fun!

Rubber mats and ski rack are ready to go, first day of skiing is planned next thursday! Probably won't hit snow on the road for a while longer though. Judging by the stock runflat's complete lack of traction on dry pavement it probably won't feel much different, I'm already used to a 4-wheel slide...

I don't really care about driving it in the snow, but the effect on the paint. I tend to baby Charlie - except for all the damned construction around our house right now. So I don't want all that summer\fall care to be ruined with PA road salt.
