The scoop looks great! I may need to consider the chrome one...hmm...if only I liked the chrome grille and mirrors, it would be a nice combo.

Maybe once I need a visual change

Pigwidgeon Needs a Plate

OK, so Pig needs a license plate, and this thread needs to get bumped back onto the first page.

So far the leading candidates are:

WHEEE
SOMEPIG

Another thought is:

EDBDCAR

I like that SOMEPIG is personal to him, and I don't really mind if no one else gets it. But WHEEE is good, too, because that's how it feels to drive him (or any MINI).

What do you think?

WHEEE is good. Just made that noise today, as I went round my 2 favorite ramps in E. San Diego County. 52 E to 125 N & 125 N to 8 E. WHEEEEEEEEEE!

In other words, I made it through the break-in today.

As an added benefit, I got Ollie Jr back from the shop on Friday, his rear bumper is as good as new.

Geez...that makes Charlie feel so old. He's got 3900 miles already. I made it though the break in period within a week.

Of course, driving to Florida will do that to you.

Of course I parked the car for a week at the body shop & was sidelined for a weekend as well, or I probably would have gone through the break-in on 07/05.

We had a great weekend after getting throug our breakin period too. Yesterday we went for a fun run aroung Lake Tahoe. We also found some great windy roads to head down from the Sierras back to Sacramento. I now know what it feels like to use the power all through the rpm range. I didn't hit the limiter though. I'll have to try that without my wife in the MINI.

Aiellos: I place a strong vote for SOMEPIG. People will know it's from Charlotte's Web but won't know the full meaning unless they know you or the story of Pig.

Well, I'm off on a business trip to NYC for a week. No driving Padre and no NAM.

Cheers,

SOMEPIG it is

So, we've decided to see if we can get SOMEPIG. We're goofy, quirky people, and lots of folks don't get us, so I don't think it's any big deal that they won't get the license plate, either.

We'll hold WHEEE as the backup choice, in case some pork farmer has already snagged the first one.

SOMEPIG is really the way to go. You may as well have something that puzzels the rest of the world. It is more fun that way.

SOMEPIG makes sense to me.

But it'd be really, really fun to have a plate that reads WHEEE!

Pigwidgeon gets a bath

At long last, Pig's gotten a well deserved, real washing. I've never even thought of waxing a car before. I think that I must have MINI fever or something.

He sure looks pretty though!

Very, very nice Aiello's.

A shiny clean MINI is a happy MINI.

Just got back from meeting Ollie Sr.'s new owners. Nice folks, who've decided to keep the name.

(That's Ollie Jr. in my sig.)

Yay! Yay! Yay!

You'll be motoring before you know it. Are you still planning to drive to Texas for MINI pick-up? How long will you have to drive back?

I'm keeping fingers crossed for a speedy processing and a very fast delivery (Lord knows, you deserve it!) Please keep us posted!

Wahoooooooo Winechic!

I'm sure your MINI will arrive soon and in pristine condition. You'll be taking an Aiello type adventure through the West before you know it. Be careful in New Mexico with the space alien hitch hikers.

For all the other Maydayers, my wife and I, and Coopchick went wine tasting with Winechic this weekend. Winechic is as cool in person as she is on the web and she really is a wine expert. I'm not sure if there is any truth to the rumor that she gives wine tours in exchange for the chance to drive MINI Coopers before the arrival of her new MINI. Also got to have some fun on the windy roads around the wine country! Keep motoring Maydayers.

Cheers,

Tom,
Congrats. Pig looks great. I'm going to do the first waxing soon so maybe I'll post some pics of Padre after he's done being gussied up.

When I looked at the pics of pig on your site I also looked at some of your footage from your base jumping adventures. All I can say is HOLY CRAP!!! It all looks completely insane to me. I am WAY, WAY too chicken to even think about trying any of it. But since I get to watch you do it, then all I can say is "You Rock!" Are you still doing it? Is Cheri a base jumper too? Unbelievable. I must admit that I am kind of intrigued by the whole flying squirrel jump suit, but I would literally have to have a gun to my head to even consider jumping off of anything higher than the curb.

Cheers,

I actually recently had one of my BASE friends say something similar, but the other way around. "You've got a MINI? That's so cool! Those cars rock!" I told him that I often wondered if any MINI folks clicked over and looked at the BASE stuff. I guess the answer to that is "yes."

Cheri is not a BASE jumper. She keeps making noises about trying it, but she's going to have to try some airplane skydiving first, I think.

I am still doing it, fairly regularly. I jumped yesterday, but didn't do any jumping today. I'll probably go tomorrow morning, though. BASE is a very large part of my life (believe it or not, I'm one of the world's most experienced jumpers), and although I'm an occasional poster and frequent lurker on NAM, I'm the moderator (and very frequent poster) on the Dropzone.com BASE forum, as well as a moderator on the BASE discussion forums at BLiNC .

I'm still trying to work out a way to take Pig for a BASE jump.

Tom, I noticed the PigPen sign over your garage. I love it. :D

Winechic glad your MINI is almost here! Are you as excited as last time?

I hope everyone's been having as much fun as I have been. I've had the MINI for a month and a half now, and have already been to three MINI-meets. Plenty more in the next few months. I've updated my website a few times but it is already out of date again, I can't keep up with all the pictures I take.

Yes and No.... I am very excited to get my mini but I am much more calm at this point. I have a better idea of how long things take so it isn't a blind wait anylonger. I drove Padre this weekend, just a little, around J and Rodney Strong Wineries, that helped calm me down and get me even more excited all at once.

Also just wanted to say how nice Padre looks in person with his pimp driving lights and CA flag decal on the roof. Pete, his wife and coopchick were a blast to go wine tasting with too.

Hi guys! Winechic, you're almost there!!! WOOHOO!!!! You are almost motoring. I am so excited for you.

MY UPDATE:
I fall in love with Dobby more and more each day. I never thought I could love a car this way. Sometimes I run him pretty hard, and then I feel guilty thinking I put too much strain on him.

I finally picked my plate - BLDY HEL. Then I got a very polite letter in the mail from the state saying it was offensive. So Dobby has just a regular plate now - but ONLY in the back. I refuse to punch holes in the front of him. I will just pay the fines as they happen. And seeing how a cop doesn't need the reason to stop me as I am usually speeding anyway, the plate alone will not get me pulled over.

I am a speeding ticket waiting to happen. This mild-mannered, defensive driving, calm girl has now turned into a crazed wild woman who has other drivers seeing a flash of blue fly by and wondering, "What the h*ll was that?" I find myself screaming obscenities at the guy in the Honda in front of me, and calling him an a-hole because how dare he decide to go only 75 in the FAST lane. I used to think I was being a rebel going 70.

I went to my first MINI rally - AWESOME. About 150 cars or so. I detailed Dobby up for the occasion, and he was lookin' good...

My fiance finally got to drive Dobby. He's driven him twice in fact. We set our wedding date - November 25 in St. Lucia. Yep, we know it's Thanksgiving. Gives us a perfect excuse to not have to choose between familes or eat 4 turkey dinners in one day.

So that's my and Dobby's update - Oh, now is the perfect time to say that I HATE OHIO. &^$* &^^&$&*%^& & road construction. Fresh tar and stipped/grooved roads with flying stones Each time I hear something, I think I hear Dobby say, "OUCH"

Hi Wannamini......Pete and I were talking about how you had disappeared from the thread. It just isn't the say with out you posting regularly. Good to hear that you love Doby so and I love you wedding date and plan, good thinking! and congrats.

Anyhow.........................My mini is still at the VPC It still says on the OL that shouldn't expect delivery until 9/3 We are about two to three weeks from harvest and I will not be able to get out of here long enough to deal with the paperwork etc... and I will not be able to be there when my car is finnaly delivered. This is why I ordered it when I did, it was the only time I could get it done. Oh well, it is the age of technology, there should be some way around all of it. We shall see. I will keep you all posted as long as I can but in about three weeks I will be MIA.

Keep your fingers crossed......or send good MINI thoughts my way......or whatever will make my car get here faster...............

Hi Wannamini,

It's great that you are having such fun with Dobby. I am also a much faster driver than I used to be. My wife, Stephanie and I look for the absolute curviest least convenient route where ever we go now. I have discovered the awesome power that Padre shows when we run the revs up high. I also occasionally worry about driving him too hard but he reacts like our dog; tongue hanging out, tail wagging and ready to play some more.

Congrats on the wedding date. My parents got married around Thanksgiving and it is always nice to celebrate it with them when the family is together for the holidays. Here's wishing for and sending you the same joy.

Winechic is right. We want more regular wannamini news! BLDY HEL isn't allowed? BLOODY HELL! See, it isn't so obscene. I think BAD DOBY is calling out to you. You know you want that plate.

Cheers,

Hi Winechic,

I read somewhere about the 05's being held at the VPC for some reason. Maybe they are instituting the new checks and quality control for the new model? Anyway, we are definitely focus our fast MINI thoughts on your MINI now.

I know they use modern crushers and destemers and all that but I can't help but have this vision of Lucy Ricardo in her Italian peasant outfit stomping on grapes in a giant barrel. Sounds like fun doesn't it? We could have a MINI wine stomping contest and drive our cars in giant barrels. Padre is chili red so I'll stomp the cab and your new MINI is yellow so you'll have to drive in the chardonnay barrel. Get back to us on whether or not your bosses agree to build the giant barrels and let MINI Coopers do the crush this year. Who's got a good name for our MINI wines? MINI Merlot, Cooper Cab . . .

Cheers,

Hi WannaMINI. Welcome back and congrats! Don't worry, 70mph is not fast at all. I found myself behind a Corvette C5 a few nights ago on some twisty roads and seriously wondered about a race....

Pete: The 05s were held because...wait for it....the VPC didn't have the correct stickers for them. So much for modern technology, eh?

I saw one of the 05s in Purple Haze yesterday. I think that is the new color that has the same effect as Indie Blue did. No matter what, you have to consider it because it looks too damn good.

I'm sticking with Chilli Red, though.
