Quick note to Tom Aiello and iyellow - and anyone else who may be in Southern Idaho July 17. The very first motoring excursion of the one-week-old Boise Mini group will take place that Saturday morning. Coffee, breakfast on the road, and a loop in beautiful river canyons and over some mountain summits. It's a long drive for you from Twin Falls, but why not make a weekend of it?

Sadly, we won't be able to make it. We're driving from Atlanta to Twin Falls, taking about three weeks, starting next Tuesday. So, we'll probably be motoring around the Southwest on the 17th.

Keep us updated for the next meeting, though. We'd love to meet and motor with some fellow MINI owners!

Great pictures storm.

I would be leaving tomarrow to go pick-up my new baby and start my road trip back, oh well I'm gonna go lay by a pool for a week and drink hypnotiq cosmos and gingertinis (probably throw some wine in there at some point). I was really excited about the mini but laying by the pool at a georgous resort is a better vacation IMO any day. See, everything works out in the end.

Storm 180 - Charlie is so gorgeous. You know what I love so much about our Maydayers group? There are no two that are totally alike in color combo. Jimskater and I come close, except his top is totally white, and mine has the sunroof.

OMG - motoring is so much fun....

With the exception of Winechic, is there anyone else that is still waiting? Everyone is at least at the dealer, right? Take a quick peek at pg. 40 and make sure I have you updated correctly......

WannaMini_, you forgot about Pigwidgeon. With the exception of the INIW, Pig and Dobby could be twins.

And you're right, motoring is sooo much fun!

OH, that's right!!! I forgot about the Pig!
And, you will all be so sad to know, that I did get the INIW fixed. It really, really bothered me.

But you can't leave us. We want to follow your saga through to its triumphant finish. We don't mind you hanging out with them too, it's just that you have to keep visiting here too. You will always be a Maydayer to us.

Have a great 4th. Looking forward to wine tasting at the end of the month. We'll work out the exact details when the time gets closer.

Cheers,

Pete F.

Thanks Wine & Wanna.

So has anyone else's significant other expressed their desire for a MINI yet? Donna (the wife) has already started spec'ing Stella (name subject to change ona whim) in her head - Dark silver\black MCS, all three packages, CVT when it becomes available. Silver and black Old Glory on the sunroof. She -might- end up going for the 6 speed, but that would mean I'd have to subject Charlie to a training session. It was bad enough when I stalled him until I got used to the clutch.

So has the modding started for anyone else yet?

By the way, I'm on vacation in AZ. It is so darn hot but I'm lovin' it. The joint we're staying has the nicest pools. We've been here two days and I have read a book and a half aready. I have not had a vaction in 4 years, poor me.

You just have to get used to the throngs of fans swarming your car now. Not to mention all the photos by that damn paparazzi! Now you know how Nomar feels when he is cruising around Boston.

Cheers,

Wine Chic,

That is awesome that your new MINI is well on its way. Tell it to watch out for the partyers in the paint shop. Padre and Dobby got demerits on their 'permanent records' for the shenanigans last time.

Arizona is a great place to relax but it is really hot. 108 in Phoenix today! Stay by the pool and keep hydrated by drinking plenty of margaritas. Enjoy the R & R, you deserve it. Looking forward to sipping wine at the end of the month.

Cheers,

I am so shocked about my car, I can't believe it. Maybe there is a mistake.

Wheeee!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while - I've been enjoying my motoring and washing my car religiously! I went on my first MINI rally last Sunday with 30 other MINIs.

Here's a directory with a couple pictures of my mini and some shots from the rally. http://deadguy.hwcommunity.com/mini/

If you ever pass through Salt Lake City, you should spare a few hours to go through the "Alpine Loop." This road is TWISTY TWISTY and is an excellent run for the MINI. It does help a little having a bunch of MINIs in a row, since the other cars and trucks feel like they should give you a little more room on that tiny road. Instructions follow.

(From Salt Lake, take I-15 S toward Las Vegas. Follow I-15 and take the UT-92 exit number 287 toward CEDAR HILLS/HIGHLAND/ALPINE. Turn left onto UT-92 and continue on "the loop" until it connects with Highway 189. Then you can turn left back to Park City and on towards Salt Lake, or turn left to head south to Provo)

Sweet! Glad you are enjoying it. I'm happy to report that my MCS made it safely through parking at a DMB concert last night Still can't believe I drove the car there, but I did pony up the 30 bucks for premium parking...

My wife and I are going to a DMB concert here in Maryland next Wednesday...still debating whether to take the MINI or my wife's Golf....I will probably wimp out and take the VW...I'm faint of heart where door dings are concerned.

"Where are you going" was the first song at our wedding reception...

Winechic-
Hope you are enjoying your week in the sun! We just got back from our week in Arkansas - different kind of heat. Let me know the area you're staying in and I'll recommend some restaurants to visit. This is a great time of year because everyone who can leaves and there's never a wait. We're actually off to Coronado Friday. There are also a number of martini bars in Scottsdale you'd like.

Great news about your completion date! I'm envious, but of course this is the second time around for you. Keep us posted!

Candy

If I had a second car, I'd have left the MINI at home, especially since I saw a teenage girl back a Volvo square into the side of a Maxima at about 10MPH while I was leaving the show The Maxima driver handled it well...

No mistake. Sometimes cars start production well before their scheduled time. I think it happens when MINI schedules less allocation than actual capacity so that they can re-tool or whatever. We'll actually have a couple of '05's in by the end of this month, and they weren't scheduled to even start production until last week!

Not much longer!

winechic so happy you got bumped up, that was really quick, it should be done in a few days!

Glad everyone is having fun, I sure am too, especially now that my break-in is over. Actually I should hit 2000mi in the next day or two! It's funn how I've had it three weeks and already washed it six times!! Which is what I'll be doing again tonight. :D

I am still 200 miles away from clearing break-in but a trip to San Jose this weekend ought to take care of that! Then I really want to feel what kind of acceleration Padre has in the higher RPMs. I will be taking him in to the dealer in a week for an upgrade to V. 38 since I have experienced the rough idle problem about 5 times while stopped at lights. I don't consider it major, but if I can get the upgrade, I figure it's worth a shot. It sure hasn't affected the joy I have in motoring!

Hey WineChic,
Hope you're having fun in the sun. Remember to find some shade (maybe go for the inside instead of poolside bar) every once in a while.

Cheers,
