How long does it take to build/assemble the car after you are given a production date? And after that, how long does it take to get to the dealer? (On average).

We just placed our order tonight for the following:

2005 MCS (unnamed, possible "Miles")
BRG/B
Premium
Xenons
Rain-sensing
Anthracite dash

We're still thinking about a checkered roof, white stripes, driving lights and possibly aero kit (or some combination of those). Hopefully, we'll get a production # soon.

We were given our production # the day after we placed the order - 6/28 - and we are anticipating delivery the last week of August or first week of September!

We were given a production number and a production week as soon as we placed the order. We ordered May 28. Of course, I forgot the production date as soon as I left the dealer, but as long as it gets here September-ish I'll be right as rain.

WoopWoop!

Vehicle production is complete -- awaiting release to the carrier!

They weren't kidding when they said July 1 build! I'd love to know the absolute first production number of the new model year. I wonder how close I am to it. Hope they did a couple of practice cars before mine.

update: production #74437XX. It looks like it's a week 31 build or at least it says "Assigned to: W-31 -XXXX" - so I'm guessing it's week 31. Thanks for keeping track of everyone!

Odd..

I noticed that these cars apparently aren't being built in production number order (I'm not the lowest #, but am among the first built). I would have figured that they got built in order, or at least roughly that.

I think the production is based on the make of the car. I'm sure the plant rolls out a bunch of MCS models all at the same time. The same goes for the regular cooper and the new Cabrio. It seems logical, right? I.E., if you go into the dealership to order a MCS and the next week your brother goes into the same dealership to order a MC, the delivery times and production dates could be compeletly different. And you might end up waiting a bit longer, even though you placed your order first.

I think dealer allotments may also play a role: The poor saps on the west coast have to put up with longer wait times because dealerships are few and far between, supply is high, yet the dealerships get roughly the same allotment of orders.

Then again dlaugh, I might be totally off base and the real reason you got your MINI built so quickly might be because the motoring gods smiled upon you.

Owners' lounge

Does anyone else have this problem? When I go into the owners' lounge on miniusa.com, it lists the model, color, interior, but under factory ordered options, I see nothing.

I know that MINI is in the process of revamping the Web site, so I'm sure it's just a harmless glitch, but does anyone else see what I'm (not) seeing? Thanks!

I see the same thing... although, I wouldn't be alarmed since (at least mine) it's still on "on order" status...... hoping it will change soon....

I have order #74434XX. Cooper, BRG/WT, CVT, PP, SS, xenons, Nav.

The web site says "Scheduled for Production." The dealer told me it was scheduled for production the week of July 5th. 866 ASK MINI reports it is in production and scheduled for completion July 5th, Whoopie

That's my birthday. I wish my MCS was going to born on the 5th. As is, I guess I'll just have to settle for the 4th.

Well an early Happy Birthday to you! My birthday is July 2 so it is a nice birthday present even though it is not the exact same day.

I found that once the OL says you are scheduled for production you are generally in the paint shop or completed. I would not be surprised if you were done by today. In the may build tracking I did I found that the production date is generally the day it is completed.

As for production numbers, there seems to be little rhyme or reason to them, though I'm sure there is some order to them when it all starts out.

Also, I am leaving for a weeks vacation tomarrow so forgive my not updating you all while I'm gone. I need a tan.

Yeah I have the same problem so I called ask mini to have them give me the rundown to make sure everything was OK. They had all the options correct, so I'm a bit more calm now. I would still like to see that list pop up.
