>>MEBOB, how many tracks can you access in that CD? For example if you burned 20 tracks, can you play all 20 tracks in the car or just 15?

Well I have one cd that has 18 tracks and one that has 15 and they both play all the way through. I think it depends on the file size/song length. I just looked and my CD (that I have the mp3's on) and it holds 80 mins or 700MB. So if I had to guess I would say that I can play as many tracks in the car as the cd can hold.
Who knows though, I guess the only way to tell is to buy a cd with more capacity.

Anybody have any thoughts on this???

>>See, ths is why I think you may be mistaking what your friend did. There's a big difference between taking some MP3 and converting them to a music CD and taking 150 MP3's and burning them to CD. Generally speaking a CD can hold 70 minutes of uncompressed music and 700 minutes of compressed music data format, ie MP3.
>>
>>In any case, MEBOB just confirmed anyhow, and I'm pretty sure this is new for 2004 as no one else has this capability. Furthermore, I'm picking up my MC tomorrow!!
>>
Ok , first let me say sorry to everyone for all the posts in a row. I just checked in and I'm trying to respond to everyone.

rrypma: I just saw your post (after I posted). First conrats on your p/u tomorrow, you'll have to post pics. Second, how do I burn the mp3 data files onto my disc vs the music mp3's? I know your getting yours tomorrow but now I'm interested and I want to try it! Thanks for any help!

Chrisfb1: I also have WMA's on a disk that play in the car. However now that everything has been explained I think I have Mp3 music files on my disk vs. data files.

Let me know if you guys want me to check anything else out, I'm happy to!

Cooper4US: I can't wait to see your MINI all chromed out. We are still back and forth on the chrome mirror caps.

Michelle - if you would, please tell us about the new digital speed readout in the tach. Since you have OBC, that's how you'll change the settings. Hmmmm, we'll have to wait until a non-OBC member get's their '04 to figure that one out!

[moderator note]: usually, I'd condense multiple postings like the three above into one, but since Michelle was blabbling away happily, and it's all in good faith, I'll leave it

Sounds like you are converting your MP3 and WMA files into music files (WAV files). "Burning MP3s onto a CD" is what most would use to describe what they are doing but really they are "converting MP3 files back into much larger WAV files". Doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it?

if the disc played in the mini and not in the 350Z, it should prove that MINI plays mp3, otherwise 350Z should play a regular cd i think!!

Ryephile, your status reports have been helpful to me. Are you sure status of SONRACER TD75213. He is a friend of mine and his dealer has told him his mcs is on the Tai Shan with my TD74723. You show him as 182.

MEBOB, if you still thinking about getting the chrome mirror caps by all means do it!

The nice thing about the OEM chrome caps is that if you get tired of the look you can always put back the factory white caps and viceversa.

My dealer will be giving me the factory white caps to keep along with the body color front grille. That was our agreement.

Can't wait to see it today!! I am sooo excited!!!!

For those of you taking delivery of your MINIs from Lauderdale MINI, don't forget to add your dealer experience review in the "Dealer Rating System" section in this site.

This guy's moving up in the world, I am now at the yard Status 180 and waitlisted for the TOSCA (which sails today, 9/30). I guess I'll know tomorrow if I made the ship. Doesn't look good though as I counted 25 other wait-listers.

BullyBob

FYI, TC49529.

Finally reached status 160 today...released for distribution. Probably won't make the boat leaving tomorrow and instead will be on the horrible Tristan which takes an amazing 14 days to cross the Atlantic. It even gets in later and the Jing Maaru which leaves two days later.

I may have to start checking out the CWF-N club by the time I get it. Good thing is I have one more paycheck to save up for my downpayment.

Congrats to all who have their cars so far!

I have finally heard the good news.
The general manager of the dealership went down to New Jersey personally to pick up our Certificate of Origin. He has just arrived back at the dealership.

And of course, I've got work to do today, and my motoring advisor is off tomorrow. Therefore, my delivery is now set for Thursday morning at 10am.
Finally!

It's nice to hear that the GM is willing to step-up to the plate and get things done. Someone else may have messed up but at least the dealer is doing what they can.

As for the MA being off on Wednesday....I would have said tough-beans...I'll be in to pick up my car!!! But, at least it's all settled and you will get it before the weekend!!!!!

Well, I really am in the wrong month club.

Apparently my MINI had dealer installed Clear Bra and Lo Jack system added to it on Saturday. I didn't ask for either of these $990 options. And the dealership claims it can't remove the Lo Jack at all, since they don't know where the chip is, and the Clear Bra removal could possibly damage the paint. So if I want to pick up the car, I would pay $1980 more than I anticipated.

I was thinking about a Clear Bra of some kind, but certainly not a $990 dealer installed one, since it can be gotten for 1/2 that price elsewhere. I absolutely do not want a Lo Jack in my car - the idea is just too Big Brother-ish for me. And I'm not sure I want to get my car back after it's stolen since I'm sure the criminals wouldn't be taking care of it at all.

So it looks like I get to wait all over again, since the dealership is placing their next order tomorrow. Estimated delivery date is now Thanksgiving.

They tried to call me on Saturday to confirm that I wanted those 2 options, but I was at a movie, so they got my voice mail instead. So they went ahead with the installation instead of waiting to find out if I really wanted it.

The more I think about this the more pissed off I get. They will just sell my car with the options included - there appears to be no downside for them. They get to sell my car for $2000 more than originally planned on, and I bet it isn't on the lot after this weekend The salesguy says he'll give me free stuff when it comes in, but I'd rather have the car now than free crap around Turkey day.

MMMini, that sounds like a load of crap. Is this a plot to get some more money out of people? Are they doing it to anyone else? Maybe by adding more "options" they get more $$ than by charging a premium....

What dealer are you going through? And state?
