>>Well the Don Quijote finally is showing up on Oceanweather.com. Look for call sign SFQP. It's getting ready to go between Cuba and Dominica on its way to the Panama Canal. It should be in the Pacific early next week!

Hi everyone! For those of you with cars on the Tosca: have you been able to find her on Oceanweather.com? I have her call sign as S6AN. She's been at sail since Tuesday and I still can't find her. Could someone who is better practiced at this than me tell me at what point the ship appears on the map?

Thanks

Mark, Rosie looks great! Great color combo too, I have a CR/B MCS coming next week and am also swapping the grill out for the chrome one. Take of the light kit and mine will look just like yours. You have me thinking hard about adding some rally lights now. Sharp. Very sharp.

Hey chris, what are you talking about? Do you mean that WW hasnt got me off the boat yet? DISCHARGED CHARLESTON,SC 02/10/2003 12:39. If that's what you meant I have been off the boat since the 2nd (thursday). So Andre should have gotten/will be getting the once over friday or saturday and then thrown (not really ) on a transport for delivery friday or saturday. My parents are still gonna drive it out to FSU and we are still gonna go on our little journey, but I'm trying to get them to let me go to the dealer to pick it up. I mean come one, I cosigned on it and put up some money (even though it wasnt a majority lets say), please come get me to pick it up! I feel that it's a special part of the process and that I would be missing out. I also need to look over the break in and make sure everything is right.

A girl in NJ just took her MINI today and she has a 9th EDD like us. she is motoring now!!!

BK_MCS what i have mentioned before is that, the girl i knew she had her mini today. ww site showed her mini discharged on the 1st and again it said, "delievered from NY on the 2nd"

Do we will have to have the "Delivered" part come out from the ww site??? that's my concern!

Well, it has been pretty crazy at work this past week, so I had to postpone picking up my new MCS until tonight...so...yes!!! Its finally home!!!! Yippeee!!!!!!

This car is AWESOME!! We picked it up at 7PM last night and had an absolute blast during delivery and then during the 30 mile drive home coming from the dealer. The car takes off soooo smoothly but with gobs and gobs of power...literally going out of 1st gear pushes you against the seat!!! No stumbles, hesitation, yo-yo, surging or bogging that I could notice during the drive, just instantenous response as soon as pushing the E-gas pedal.

If our new MCS has the new DME software update (Version 36?) man all of you guys that have been dealing with the infamous stumble problem are in for a real treat...the car drives the way it was meant to be...very nice!!

Anyway, we had a great time overall and our delivery experience at Lauderdale MINI was absolutely FIRST CLASS (Thanks Crystal, Larry and Bonnie!!!).

The chrome front grille and the chrome mirror caps are absolute show stoppers...the car looks drop dead gorgeous!! I will try to get some pics posted as soon as possible. The MCS Chrome "upgrade" is worth every penny IMO.

I will post in detail more impressions about the car and the delivery experience overall later on, but suffice to say, I AM VERY HAPPY!

For those of you still waiting for your MINIs to arrive...hang on...you are in for a real treat!!!

Have only a whooping 36 miles on the odo, so this weekend we'll be doing some serious motoring!!!

Take care everyone!

Scoutd; are you also a CA resident who ordered your Mini from the East to avoid the dreaded dealer gouging? Purchased mine from Tom Bush Mini in Jacksonville

Yes inDEED. I tried to buy one in CA, but just as I was going to sign on the dotted line I regained my sanity. 3K over MSRP for an 03 in July? excuse me??? that's when I began hitchhiking through the dealer rating system and landed in the Home of Rock and Roll Cleveland OH. Classic MINI and Ms MINI Julie Saxo

have you taken possession yet? Notice I asked have you? cause My car already has posssessed me. and she is over 5ooo miles away!

Hi everyone. My mini is on the Tosca I think, ask mini said its on the dock and to call the dealer. I called today and they said it is not on a ship yet??? I am listed on the Tosca with a bill of lading no. etc. , this makes no sense to me. I cannot find the Tosca on the ocean by her call sign either!! I too think it is S6AN. Maybe this is normal, I mean mini keeps us posted untill the docks and then we are on our own!! A serious communication problem for all of us new owners. I think mini should look into this and see if there is a better way to handle the situation. I have been on the dock for over 2 weeks and still do not know if i am on a ship for positive!! It's going to be a long 2 weeks till I know for sure if it is here. In the meantime keep the updates coming on all the mini's that have been delivered, we love reading about your new mini's, thanks and enjoy them, tim

Rosie is a beauty!!!! Love the chrome grill too. Sorry to hear you had problems right off the bat but atleast the dealer was jolly on the spot to help you out.

Katana Pilot: Sounds to me that the front end on your MINI is out of alignment with that pull? I'd get it back in to u dealer for immediate adjustment...so not to damage the front suspension unduely.

I am at a disadvantage...since I wont be picking the car up from the dealer.... can someone give me a link to these programable options you are getting changed at the dealer. So I can have my MA handle this prior to sending my car out here.

thanks mucho grande hombres!!

Hey Cooper4us, congrats!
Whichever version of the software they've loaded onto mine, I am very happy with it.
Slight yoyo but no big deal really, and most importantly, no stumble!

I noticed another thing that might have changed for the 04s - auto-locking always locks now. Previously, I've read that if you have not locked the car with the remote, auto-locking will not work. Now auto-lock seems to work all the time.

Got my first huge paint chip today, right on the bonnet between headlight and grille My 9 year old BMW never got a paint chip this big...... Oh well.......

BK: It's worth the wait

Michael: The CR/B combo wasn't even in my final choices when I ordered. It wasn't until I saw Jay Leno driving one on the Today show that I switched. I'm glad I did. I do a lot of rural driving in the dark with deer all around. I think the driving lights will be very useful. I think they look great too!

Cooper4Us: Congratulations!! No stumble here either, just fun!

Ryephile: I had the rear fogs installed but they don't seem to be working. (I forgot to check them out at the dealer) It sounds like the software might just need the upgrade. I've got a full set of toggles though, and the weather is looking much better for the coming week.

Initial Impressions

I've got to get used to having 6 speeds rather than 5.. Nearly rolled into another car when I wanted to be in reverse but put it into 6th gear instead ops:

Interior is very comfortable for my six foot frame but (at least on my drive home) I found that my big feet push against the clutch pedal and the arm of the clutch pedal when I depress unless I change my foot to a position that doesn't feel natural.

It's a very long reach to the rear view mirror

The Harmon Kardon is Awesome (At least to a 46 year old rocker)

In a 30 mile stop and go traffic jam the 6-speed was smooth as could be and in the rain the wipers worked great.

The heated seats really do get HOT fast.

Love the MFSW. Our jeep has this and I'm glad MINI offers it, It's a must have.

The automatic temp control works great.

I'm now asking my wife if she has any errands for me to run

Mark

It's real exciting reading about everyone's first impressions of their new MINIs!
Mine went from "En Route" to "At Distribution Center" yesterday and the Estimated Delivery Date moved up from 10/9 to 10/7. So, it's getting close!
I have to pick mine up on a Saturday, so I'm very hopeful that 10/18 can be the day!

That's a big negative. Arriving on the TOSCA 10/11 to Charleston. After handling all paperwork with my MA, my brother who lives in Jacksonville will have the pleasure of picking it up and garaging it and throwing on a few easy break in miles. Because of work, I can't fly out until Nov. 6 th for the drive back home.

Hi
It appears I'm now a reluctant member of the October Club since my Mini has not been released from the JINGU MARU that arrived in NY on Sept 19!! (Sept 26 delivery date) Can anybody tell me why none of the cars from that ship have been delivered yet? :???:

Katana, my car does not pull to the left, but the steering wheel is not "centered". If I did center it, I would quickly be headed in the leftward direction. So, maybe when I bring it in, I let them know about that.

Thanks KT. I may still look because I can't help myself, but at least I'll know that there's a reason that it's not there!

Hi rrypma,

yeah I have been on the MassPike trying to determine if my car actually pulls or not. It feels like it goes fairly straight on the highway, just that the steering wheel is not "centered". If I centered it, I would probably be in the next lane within a second. Therefore, your car sounds just like my car.

I'll let you know what MINI of Peabody says on Monday when I bring it in.

Today I drove it in the rain for the first time. Rain sensing wipers at one point just forgot to wipe for some reason..... Otherwise it wipes fairly well, if a bit too infrequent for my tastes. I'm going to see if I can get it adjusted.
