i see that mine will be ready on the 9th (thursday) but my dad is outa town all week and the weekend so there is no way to get from grand rapids to chicago so i cant get my car maybe until the 18th or so. it would be hard to go down there on a weekday because thats a long trip for a single day, it would take all day and i would miss school and my dad miss work. that makes it about 2 more weeks then, it will be at the dealer just sitting for one of them
DavidAC - mine also rode across on the Tai Shan, and I have received the same info as you from the same sources. The 10/4 date was given as the delivery date at Mini of Towson (Md). Talked with my MA yesterday, and her guess is that it will be in dealership Mon or Tues.
She agreed to my stipualtion of no wash - no wax. My MC is blk/wht roof and I am startring it out with the Zaino treatment for max paint protection.
Goodspeed to you, me, and all of our Tai Shan travelers.

>>My GoMINIGo glove box organizer fits fantastic!!!!!! You can find GoMINIGo in the "Marketplace" forum. It fits perfect, the red felt looks great, and it holds everything right where it should be.
>>
i will second that!
I asked for the light gray felt top. Very sturdy, very functional. Highly recommended.
I also highly recommend the Light-in-Sight Fresnel lens. Since our MINIs' roofs go so far forward, it may be very difficult to see overhead traffic lights at times without having to stretch our neck/lean forward. What Light-in-Sight does is it allows me to see the traffic lights that I otherwise could not see. For those who are bothered by not being able to see the overhead traffic lights, you should try this out.
(standard disclaimer here - not affliated with them; I'm just a happy customer)

Hey Ryan,
Do you know something that I don't? I wish my car were at the dealer, but alas, it is only at the VDC.
This is the hardest part of the entire 3 month wait.

Hey Ryan
What is the deal on the car remote??
I know it is temp issue, not a long term thing. But anyone has any update on that?
Is it not working at all???
or is just can not lock the car.
will the alarm still work??
Does the auto window and sunroof open still work?
How long it wil take the dealers to solve the problem?
Anyway we can avoid this? i have heard somewhere that it was working when the car comes.
All your people took delivery please give me a update!
Thank you all!

my remote key works.
lock, unlock, comfort opening..... all works.
The only thing they couldn't get it to work was one key press to unlock both doors. RIght now the 1st key press opens the driver's door, and the 2nd key press opens the rest.
and the dealer was using CD35 to program my car.

The Wallenius Wihelmsen sites show the Don Quijote docking in Port Hueneme now on October 13th, two days ahead of schedule. Go Don Quijote!
KatanaPilot, I think that is just a programming function, my '03 MCS, '02 Chevy truck and '01 BMW X5 do the same thing.

My remote key does not work. The dealer swears it was working when it took it to fill up the gas tank. I had not checked it before requesting a change in the programming to turn on driving lights and to turn off auto lock. When I got ready to leave I tested the key and it did not work. The dealer thought that they may have damaged the module that controls it and ordered a new one.

Can anyone explain this? She was built 8/15 and I'm still waiting.

I'm in the Nov Club and I have a question for those of you who have your '04 MINIs. Did it come with the Shark Fin antena?
and LEXX - what I know of those dates from the W/W site they are Day-Month-Year
so in reading what you copied - they are all reporting your dates and times at the Southampton end:
It was booked on the vessel on Aug 7th
Ready to scan at the terminal in Southampton Aug 20th
It was on hold in Southampton Aug 22
It was loaded on a vessel Sept 11th
Your MINI should be in the USA by now.
Perhaps at the VPC or even in route to your dealer.

I asked the same question a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, the answer is "no" (unless, of course, you have the Nav). No to MP3s too.

Did you guys check out your xenon headlight washers yet? I totally forgot about them, and I was just blown away. They extend about 4" out of the fixtures before giving generous squirts. Very cool and Bond-like. Oh, they only work when your headlights are actually on. (makes sense)
---> markcmini: I hate to say it, but the guys in Service at Motor City MINI have a tendency to be absolute idiots!!! They can't tie their own shoes let alone correctly program the MINI. They still haven't a clue how to program most of the features
---> chrisfb1: The answer is; not likely. We all know you're very impatient, but mostly likely the earliest after it gets off the truck is the next day
Good Luck
Cheers,
Ryan

Okay here here's all the dates tell me if this is unusual.
Aug 15 My MCS TD73553 was built
Aug 20 Received at terminal
Aug 22 Export unit on hold (never saw this for other Minis. Usually loaded the same day as received at terminal)
Sep 01 Booking number GBSOU133238. Loaded and removed from the Tokyo Highway. Why?
Sep 09 Booking number changed to GBSOU133238B. Loaded and removed from the Tosca. Again WHY??
Sep 11 Booking number changed to GBSOU133238C. Loaded on the Jingu Maru, Voyage number EQ325-JGM, leaves Southampton for NY.
Sep 19 Jingu Maru arrives in NY
Sep 21 OL changes to EDD 9/26. Boy, am I happy.
Sep 26 MA says my MCS is on hold at port due to '04 emission testing I say, "but mines an '03" He says "No yours is an '04 due to getting your order in so late." So now I'm happy. I'm getting an '04!!!
Sep 29 MA Tells me he made a mistake my MCS is and03 and he can't find out why they won't release it from the port. Meanwhile I'm reading about people already getting their '04's. I'm reading about people that are getting their mini from ships that arrived in port after the Jingu Maru.
So now I am really starting to worry. Why was it removed from two ships in Southampton before being loaded on the one that brought it here? And why doesn’t WW show Status of DISCHARGED and DELIVERED like I see on other Minis? I’m not being impatient, I’m just worried that somehow it was damaged or it won’t start or something’s wrong with it and that’s why it’s being delayed.
Oct 05 It’s been 51 days since my MCS was Built and no idea when it will be delivered.

I love waking up after my 15 hours of sleep and getting on here and seeing a whole new page of stuff to read.
The shark fin:
I've heard people saying that they were in the factory and saw a bunch of 04s sitting there with the shark fin and some had nav and some didnt, maybe it's just a special batch or cars for some other country with LHD cars.

My MCS was built on March 11, 2003 and I took delivery in Southern California on April 12, 2003. Yes, I think that is unusual.

Don't worry about that part. My MINI never showed up as Discharged or delivered on the WW site. The ship came in....it left....and my MINI must have sneaked off without being recorded.

Only 35 hours since delivery and I've already got almost 500 miles on the MINI!!!!! What an unbelievably fun car!!!! I went out early this morning and had the chance to get on a few twisties and it handled like a dream. This afternoon it was out shoppping and taking the loooooooong (and curvy) way to every destination. Still running perfect!!!!
One comment I forgot about yesterday...the MINI-FINI cupholder was included with my MINI as has been discussed earlier. I have already removed it!!!!! The dealer put it on without asking if I wanted it. Sure enough the interior got a little scratched up where thebracket connects. Then, I found out the hard way that when the front seat is pulled forward when someone gets in the back seat it hits the cupholder. It got jammed into the trim ring around shifter and put a small but very noticable chip in the anthracite
!!!! NOT HAPPY!!!!! I will mention it to the dealer and see if they think it deserves a replacement.
Back to the good stuff, as the miles have built I have started pushing it a little more. Today I hit about 5100 rpm twice and around one corner I kept pushing it as I was rounding it, and when I started to hit the straight-away realized I was running about 6200 rpm.....Ooops!!!!!! Very smooth though. Happy Happy Happy!!!!

If you keep driving your MCS like that you may end up with a well broken in, strong running engine. Good job! Keep up the good work!
They are an incredibly fun car to drive aggressively.

I always wondered if something like this existed. My last car was a Miata and it was very hard to see traffic lights in (at least with the top up). Really could have used it. The MINI is even harder to see traffic lights in than the Miata was.
Very cool item. So it works pretty good, doesn't distract from your forward vision?

I asked my dealer to not install the cupholder but was told by my MA that they were coming from the factory that way. Either she was confused or the cupholders are being attached prior to their arrival at the dealer. I appreciate the cupholder being added by MINI, it shows they are listening. But that said, I don't want the MINI-FINI cupholder and will remove it. Just looks too tacked on, too "aftermarket", if that makes any sense.

the MINI-FINI cupholders are installed at the VPC.
I wish they gave us instructions for it.
If you buy it retail, it includes installation instructions that clearly warns us to move the cupholder toward the center before folding the pax seat forward.
