I also got the MINI FINI cuplink system and find it to be very practical, specially in the MCS. It might not be the most aesthetically pleasing cupholder solution to the eye, but I think MINI FINI did a terrific job in addressing this minor shortcoming in the MINI's interior. Aside from the cupholder functionality I think it is very useful to put my cell phone in there, within easy reach.

The Cuplink system; however, has a flaw in that the support brace that wraps around the dashboard tube if moved or not installed properly has the potential of peeling of the paint of the tube. I personally met one of the MINI FINI executives last month and I plan to bring this up with her next time I talk to her. The brace piece should have a more "friendly" contact surface to avoid damaging the interior trim.

MINIUSA is installing the MINI FINI cuplink system for selected build dates, to "test market" the waters.

Whew!

As far as my cosmetics my car wasn't completely clean and there were some dirty fingerprints around the interior. I can't really complain, the dealer did me a HUGE favor by rushing my car through so I could pick it up the morning after it arrived.

My Zaino bros arrived so that is my job this coming weekend. I'll post pics when I'm done.

CONGRATS to all who have their MINI's now! Those of you who are still waiting, it's almost time!

MEBOB: Glad to hear you are having fun! I took some pictures of the car on Saturday but I had to borrow a friend's digital camera, so I am relying on him to send me the pics over. Anyway, as soon as I get them I will post them here. Get the chrome gril and mirror caps as soon as possible...they make the car look stunning!

Have put 200 miles since I took delivery late Friday night. I can't stop driving it and the car just Purrrrs like a kitten

No aligment, wheel balancing problems or vibrating shifters...the car feels very solid and no cockpit noises or anything to else report.

I am learning to use the H/K stereo features as the Boost CD Radio Owner's manual does not describe what each setting of the H/K setup is supposed to do. the manual only tells you how to access each function, but not what the technical details and differences are.

today is the EDD!
My mini still nowhere to be found.
Just called the dealer, nothing! no! nope!

I should know better and order from another dealer. that might make my mini get here earlier like others taking delivery today over there.

**** happens! but at least let me see it, if i can't have it today!

That's for anyone having trouble figuring out the H/K system. I've read it a few times and will read it once more before I go to pick Andre up on Saturday morning.

I am still trying to figure out my H/K system. The CD Boost Radio owner's manual only goes as far as telling you how to access the different sound staging modes in the H/K unit but does not offer any explanations as to what the differences are. I think MINIUSA should consider issuing a separate "Guide to enjoying your H/K stereo" or something like that.

Thanks for the link.

Well, I just checked my e-mail and I got a message from my MA over at Tom Bush. I sent him two e-mails. One about tracking the MINI (because he told my mom that he didnt know how I knew all of that) and another about the pre programmed responses. This is what I got back.
------
Bryan i have read both your emails. Understand somthing buddy, what i am
able to have done to your car is only what you see on the official mini
website. We do not really pay attention to the forums and other such
sites because they are not associated with the company we work for.
There is nothing to say to me that the information posted on forums and
such is actual true events. Consider your source and you will understand
what i am talking about.

So i am checking into the programing the ebrake unlock, but if you heard
this on some non-mini site then it is possible that the feature does not
exsist. But if our technician can do it then i will let you know.

Scott

Still dont really know how to respond to this, sounds kinda hostile towards our sites dont you think. I like how he called you guys liars basically. I wonder how many people actually think before they say something? So I guess I'm done listening to you bunch of liars because the all knowing MA said you lie so goodbye. OMFG. I shoulda not even said anything and just taken our $25K car as is with no complaints. Greatly changes my opinion of them. Oh, and I have never seen anything on MINI USA about programming options so am I to assume that none exist. And what about the forums on MINI USA, they cant be liars because they are on a site affiliated with the company he works for.

Hi Bk_MCS,
I have it enable in my car. It works.
The way it works is that the car unlocks when I turn the engine off, IF the handbrake is pulled up.
It is a separate menu selection from the auto-locking I believe.

Tell your MA that ASK-MINI told me the computers in 04s are different from previous years. His old form is outdated, and he should get an updated one. If he doesn't believe you/me, tell him to call ASK-MINI himself.

lol, thanks for the info KatanaPilot. I'll wait till I go and pick it up on saturday to see if he found out, and if he didnt it'll only take a few minutes anyways (plus I would get to see him doing it). Just another example of how on more than one occassion we the MINI obsessed know more than the dealer. Sounds like they need their own line at ASK MINI.

Hahahaha

I just got off instant messenger with my 14 year old sister who turns 15 in december. She said she couldnt wait for the new car. I asked her why and she said because she will be learning to drive stick on it. I laughed and said no you wont, I had to learn on the beater truck, so did sean, and so will you! Besides it's too much car for you, and it's mine. The only people driving it will be me, mom, and dad. Sean will barely even get to drive it.

I'll die before she learns to drive stick on Andre .

I found out today from my MA that the reason my MCS is still at the port is because it was damaged during shipping. He claims that only the rear spoiler was cracked and they were waiting for a replacement part, but I can't imagine something that big cracking without other damage being done to the car. Now he says it may be here by friday. I'm not holding my breath.

You know what I'd tell my MA, get me my car and I'll bring it in when you have the part painted and ready for install! It's not like the spoiler adds to the downforce of the car (ok, it might a little, but it's nothing crucial to the functioning of the car), just looks.

Pictures?

Anyone?

Ryan is this the way it is supposed to work?

I don't have mine yet but don't know how to add pictures to this page. Any ideas on where I can read a good "how-to" for picture posting?

Good news to all of my car's fellow Tosca passengers: according to the W&W site, the ship is now scheduled to arrive on Oct 8 rather than the 9!

I don't know if anyone of us will get his/her car earlier as a result of this good fortune, but it will make me smile a bit more frequently on Wednesday than I originally would have.

Three cheers to the captain and crew of the Tosca!

I have no idea how to post a picture here. So it looks like I jumped the gun, you all are off the hook, it is easy to post pics over on mini2. Please forgive me.

The Wallenius Wihelmsen site still shows the Don Quijote docking in Port Hueneme on October 13th, two days ahead of schedule. Go Don Quijote!

Thanks Chrwilliams! I was beginning to wonder about
the Tosca. Thought it might be a ghost ship since I
couldn't find it in the ocean. My car gets off in New York
so I hope this does speed up the process by a day.
Won't be long now

Another wonderful day with my MINI!!!!!  I know that the wait is painful for many here in the CWFO thread, but once your MINI arrives the pain will quickly melt away!!!! In the past two days I have already forgotten about having to wait 4 months (which is nothing compared to many others).

The drive into work was like a whole new adventure. The curves were better and the passing zones were hardly a challenge for the 200 horses under the hood!! I'm still keeping it under 4500 rpms most of the time although I let it slide up to about 5100 once on the way home. That was shortly followed by an unmarked police car following a little to closely for the next 20 miles . Luckily I think all he wanted was to see what the heck car I was driving.

I did get a ton of second looks on the way home (it's dark on the way in), a few thumbs up, and a few smiles. It was great, it's nice to see people smiling instead of the usual blank, zombie looks as they all barrel forward.

Ha, after I take delivery of my MINI I'll be fine until sunday night when my parents drop me back off at FSU and take Andre back to Jacksonville. It'll be another month until I get to see him at thanksgiving, and for only a few days! I hate this. It's no fair. They give me this car and say I can have it here then say I cant have it here! Oh the agony. Why??? They say maybe later in the year or next year I will be able to have it here. I want it with me always, not in 3 months or a year! Grrrrrrrrrr! I would have rather them not promised me this car at all and I would have rather not found this place to tease me constantly day in and day out! Dont mind me, just go about your happy motoring ways.
