i just knew that discharged is not the last step.

there is another call: delievery.

I thought my mini is already in VPC. this is frustrating.
My MA told me that if my mini get the the vpc today it should be here by monday. but..... since it is not in vpc yet. i think it would be here by the 7th.

Come on. Charleston is not a big port, why my mini got to stay over night there with salt wind. this might be the only time i hate about coastal area.

My mini!
Can't wait!!!!!!!!
Just had some Korean food, make me feel better a little bit.

>>C'mon! Only 2 of us from this group have their MINI's? Katana, what's your story? Has that C of O come in yet? back to RMV for my plate
9) back to dealership to put the plate on my car, and drove home
10) As soon as I got home, installed mud flaps, Whalen, Euro shelf, plus other goodies I bought
11) dinner (didn't have time for lunch)
12) drove back to dealership with a friend to pick up my old car
13) drove back home again
14) as soon as I got in my door log onto MCO and check this thread

Who would've thought taking delivery of a car would take a whole day!? Man, I left home at 9am and got back at like 4:30pm. I already put almost 100 miles on my car today!

Impressions: I love it! enough said.
Other notable observations.... for those who have their car already, read your manual. It has the picture of the 3-spoke steering wheel, including the nitendo keypad. At first I thought those pics posted online were bad photoshop jobs, but as it turns out, they really are that way.
Nav is fairly easy to use, relatively speaking.
Stock shift **** popped off much easier than I was expecting.
TVA's armrest is pretty awesome for its price.

Now something more interesting..... I had sent my MA my preferences, but apparently options have changed for 04s. We spent about a half hour with the tech guys trying to program some of my options (The first thing I did at delivery was to check if my options were properly programmed, and the first item I checked was not). My car was sitting in the delivery bay in the show room, and the tech basically plug this receiver box into my OBDII port. He then goes back to the main machine in the back shop, and does the programming there. It is way cool. Now the interesting bits.... I have mentioned elsewhere that I HATE the auto-locking after 2 minute feature, and was delighted to find out that I could disable it. One feature I wanted was single button push to unlock all doors, but apparently they could not figure out how to program it for the 04s. Turning the key in the door once unlocks all doors, but pushing the remote once does not unlock all doors. Since the 04 software is so new, they said give them a few days to figure all these things out.

As for stumble/yoyo, I detected absolutely no stumble (yay!), but there was yoyo present.
Those wiper blades make A LOT of noise.

That's all I have to say today. Hope all this info is helpful to you guys.

Finally got that dumb paper done.

My parents are gonna pick up Andre next Friday, drive him to FSU on Saturday from Jacksonville (3 hrs +-) then take me to lakeland (3 hrs+-) to see my girlfriend, then back to FSU (3 more hrs+-) and then I will take it down the street to FAMU to show some friends and then they will drive it back home sunday. So it looks like I'll have around 3 or 400 miles by the end of that weekend.

Yes, thanks for the tips about the programming, could someone perhaps provide a complete list in the next few days so I can tell my mom to get the right stuff dont. I only told her about the comfort opening (boot or windows/sunroof, I want windows and sunroof). Thanks.

One of my programming options was not done correctly either. I wanted to have all doors unlock when I pull out key from ignition so I don't have to open door handle twice. Convenience open I'm pretty sure is standard. Yeah, I was pretty amazed that the new sport steering wheel was pictured in the manual considering some material were dated for 03 models. What a huge stack of stuff you get in the owner's pack...makes for some good reading material on a rainy day.

Oh, and I almost thought they hadn't programmed the follow me home lights either until I realized you need to activate it by pulling the "lights" stalk forward. For some reason I thougt it would be an automatic feature.

Katana, I'm sure you've checked already, but I have a dead pixel on my NAV screen that my MA was shocked to see and claimed wasn't there when he went over the vehicle. He immediately ordered one, so I'll that replaced soon enough. Also, going to need those xenons raised a bit, just like others have complained about.

Good luck and congrats!

welcome ScoutD. The 3-spoke steering wheel doesn't start production until December 1st.

Bk_MCS; let me see if I remember them all:

*Comfort open - when you hold down the wings on the remote, the windows go down and the sunroof opens (If applicable)

*Follow me home lights - allows the headlights to stay on for 40 seconds or more (programmable) after the car is turned off and locked

*Daytime Running Lamps (DRL's) - runs the high-beams de-powered at all times for improved visibility in nasty climates.

*Automatic re-locking - if you unlock the MINI but do not open the doors, it will automatically re-lock itself after 2 minutes (new for '04)

*Auto-lock at set-off - the doors and boot automatically lock after the first unlock of each startup of the MINI and after about 5MPH

*unlock doors w/e-brake - unlocks the doors after ignition is turned off when the emergency brake is engaged. Basically the opposite of "auto-lock at set-off"

There are other options too, but let's not confuse our MA's too much :lol;
Cheers,
insomniac-Ryan

In the final few phone calls planning for delivery of my MINI on Saturday, yesterday evening I discussed all the programming options with the dealer. She said that when they went from '02 to '03 it was a few weeks before they could properly program the options......the same thing is happening with the '03 to '04 switch. Evidently the cars show up before the paperwork for the technicians showing how to make these changes. She said they have delivered a few '04's and have trouble programming all of them.

Other then that though....the JCW is installed and my MINI is ready for me. They did almost mess up my financing (through my credit union) but I stayed on it and other then spending an extra $20 for Saturday FedEx delivery, all is good!!!!

ONLY 26 HOURS!!!!!!!

Just a quick poll here to see how many of you October Club members are having your dealer install a clear bra. I was planning on it but an earlier post mentioned removing a clear bra already installed would damage the paint. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having it in the first place? What happens when it gets dinged up and you want to replace the bra in 5 years. A new paint job too? Thanks for any thoughts, I have a hard time believing that removal of the bra will damage the paint job. Our dealer installs a 3M product instead of the MINI standard bra invincashield.

I'm getting something called roadblock. When we ordered my MA told me that they didnt have anyone to install the invincashield but he said we have roadblock. It's supposed to be better than invincashield (it must be the invinca would have been $400 installed and the roadblock was $590 installed, but we got it for $450 installed). I couldnt see why you would want to replace it in 5 years or so other than it falling off, and I dont see why that would happen. I guess we'll all find out in 5 years. As for the paint thing I have no clue. I wonder if there is some kind of warranty or guarantee that it will last for x years.

I am a late arrival to this thread. Spend too much time on Mini2. My MCS is at the VPC as far as I can tell. Estimated delivery is tomorrow. I don't see that happening. Even though I am close to port at Peabody, just don't see it happening that fast. It was delivered to the VPC on 10/2. Oh well, we shall see. Congrats to everyone who has received their car.

Scoutd; are you also a CA resident who ordered your Mini from the East to avoid the dreaded dealer gouging? Purchased mine from Tom Bush Mini in Jacksonville

Hi everyone, I'll thorw in more thoughts.....

auto locking and unlocking - works as I expected. It unlocks when I switch the engine off. (I always use my hand brakes)
DRL looks really cool. Xenon is a bit low, but not too bad. It is so much better than the poor headlights on E36 3 series. High beam is almost useless with xenons.
no dead pixels in my Nav.
The nav is very easy to figure out. One thing I did not like was the fact that you have to turn the **** to the left to go down most menus. I think I would be more used to turning right to go down the menu. The only feature I had problems with was selecting north-up/track-up. I always prefer track-up, but couldn't figure out why sometimes that option is grayed out. I later read the manual and it says track-up only works for scales less than 1 mile. (1 mile meaning the whole display shows about 6 miles across and 4 miles top to bottom, or something like that.... maybe a bit more)
If you turn the monitor off, it still gives you voice guidance.
With the street spacing in the Boston area, the Nav would tell me to prepare to make a right turn when I am still 2 or 3 traffic lights from the turn. It can be quite confusing if I don't read the screen.
My shifter vibrates violently in 2nd gear and 5th gear...... This worries me a bit.
The car sounds like an electric car at parking lot speeds because the electric pwr steering pump is so loud.
The car pulls to the left, severely. If I center the steering wheel, I'd be in the next lane within a second.
I still don't have a good feel of "speed" yet in this car. I always surprise myself by going either too slow or too fast.

That's all for now; will post more thoughts later......

KatanaPilot - thanks for that rundown. My LA COP (jet blk/wht roof) is at VPC in NYC according to Ryan - I may have your experience early next week.

Curious about the dealership cosmetics. Talked to my MA whos said they will wash and wax; another salesman told me the car is only washed.

I am going the full Zaino polishing route, so I told my MA - NO WASH, NO WAX.

How was yours treated cosmetic-wise?

Thanks,

John

in my MA's words, "washed with a light coat of wax put on".
I ran my hand over the paint finish, and it is very rough. It definitely needs a clay job, and I'll do it once I have more time......

Well the Don Quijote finally is showing up on Oceanweather.com. Look for call sign SFQP. It's getting ready to go between Cuba and Dominica on its way to the Panama Canal. It should be in the Pacific early next week!
