>>Well, I really am in the wrong month club.
>>
>>Apparently my MINI had dealer installed Clear Bra and Lo Jack system added to it on Saturday. I didn't ask for either of these $990 options. And the dealership claims it can't remove the Lo Jack at all, since they don't know where the chip is, and the Clear Bra removal could possibly damage the paint. So if I want to pick up the car, I would pay $1980 more than I anticipated.
>>
>>I was thinking about a Clear Bra of some kind, but certainly not a $990 dealer installed one, since it can be gotten for 1/2 that price elsewhere. I absolutely do not want a Lo Jack in my car - the idea is just too Big Brother-ish for me. And I'm not sure I want to get my car back after it's stolen since I'm sure the criminals wouldn't be taking care of it at all.
>>
>>So it looks like I get to wait all over again, since the dealership is placing their next order tomorrow. Estimated delivery date is now Thanksgiving.
>>
>>They tried to call me on Saturday to confirm that I wanted those 2 options, but I was at a movie, so they got my voice mail instead. So they went ahead with the installation instead of waiting to find out if I really wanted it.
>>
>>The more I think about this the more pissed off I get. They will just sell my car with the options included - there appears to be no downside for them. They get to sell my car for $2000 more than originally planned on, and I bet it isn't on the lot after this weekend The salesguy says he'll give me free stuff when it comes in, but I'd rather have the car now than free crap around Turkey day.

You have been scamed. If I were you I would reject the car, cancel the order and never do business with this dealership ever again.

It takes major ***** to add $2K worth of useless junk on your new car without your explicit authorization.

$990 for a clear bra. My dealer (Tom Bush, Jacksonville, FL) said they didnt have anyone that did the invincashield, they used something better called roadblock. They said it provided better protection and I saw the difference and believe it. The only thing is that they wanted $590, my dad knocked them down to $450 installed, which was the same as the invincashield. Real sorry to hear about your woes. You'd think that if they didnt give you the options for free that they'd either call lo jack or whoever and get it taken out and discount the clear bra, $990 is really a rip off unless they put film on other parts than just the front. They should get the lo jack out and give you the film for less than $500. What a bunch of crap. You should go order your car somewhere else.

Well my fellow October MINI'ers, the delivery of my car has been delayed until tomorrow. The weather has been really aweful around here, plus I have been pretty tight up here at work. Tomorrow should (hopefully) be a nice day, so I will be taking delivery in the afternoon.

Almost there!!!

Very sorry to hear that the dealer added the extras without your permission. If ever there was an opportunity for MINI Division to step up and offer their assistance, this is it. MINI Division, this customer paid a deposit, waited with excitement and anticipation for his/her car to be built and delivered, only to have the rug pulled out from under him/her at the last minute by an unethical dealer. If you have one ounce of customer service, MINI Division, you'll act as a liaison and step in here and make this right. I thought only leisure-suit-Larry dealers did this kind of thing --certainly not dealerships associated with MINI and BMW.

See ya,
JS

THE MINI ARRIVES!!

Hehee.....The Hudson River Valley is so much prettier when behind the wheel of a MINI meandering through the twisties... WOW! What a car. It's equipped with the SS+ suspension and very taught...and what a thrill.

Sorry for the pics...I think my hands were still trembling. THe NAV system I found immediately indespensible...what a great toy. Had fun breaking the engine a little today, although not to the limit of course.

No pics of the interior yet...but all anthracite and leatherette.

#1 (minus DSC), #2, xenons, fogs, NAV, SS+

Stripes and Red/White Tail lights soon to follow.

Godspeed in all your acquisitions!

I know there was much confusion about whether the CD player would play native MP3's. It seems it will not for now. This confirmed by my MA. Perhaps in a later revision.

Good news update!!!

I called the dealership and asked for the sales manager, to see if he could do anything. He said he'd been sick and out of the office for a few days, and would call me back in 20 minutes after he did some research into the matter.

It was actually 35 minutes, but he apologized for the mix up and told me to come in and pick up my car - there would be no charge for the Clear Bra and Lo Jack! He said he'd rather have me in the car and not make money on the options than have me dis-satisfied with the dealership.

So while I'm not sure I like the idea of being trackable by Lo Jack, I do have my Chili Red and Black MINI Cooper sitting in my parking spot outside and the same car payment I anticipated! People at work are telling me I'm paranoid about the Lo Jack, and I should just enjoy it.

I guess I do believe that this was a mistake. Their willingness to eat some cost and forego some profit is admirable. I just wish I hadn't wasted most of my afternoon in a bad mood.

For those wondering I bought from MINI of Sterling, in Virginia. Keith was my MA, and Bill is the Sales Manager who made sure the situation was resolved in a friendly manner.

Now that sounds more like it. Congrats! I'm very happy to hear that it worked out for you, MMMini.

Agreed jstines.

You got off even better than I said. It is very admirable that they forgot about the $2k hit they were taking and gave you your car anyways. Very happy for you and Sterling MINI, wish I still lived in Herndon, VA sometimes.

Congrats rrypma and MMMini!

MMMini---> that sucks about your dealership experience, but I guess it's good they resolved it, and I'm glad to hear the GM's performed a good business manuever, but horrified he didn't have control over his dealership! I still wouldn't recommend that dealership, even if you got free crap, it's crap you did NOT want. (love my double meaning ) Anyways, where are you pictures?!

Cheers,
Ryan

Sad... I was stoked for the MP3 feature. Here's one I haven't heard anyone mention: another rumor was that all Mini's would get the shark fin antenna whether they had Nav or not.

Unfortunately--for these purposes anyway--both Mini's accepted for delivery have both had Nav. Could someone post to confirm/deny this assertion when they get the chance?

I can confirm that non-Nav cars still got the same bee-sting antenna.

When I was at the dealer picking mine up I saw lots of bee sting antennas. Only a few had the shark fin and low and behold they had nav.
Hope this helps!!!

Speaking of the TAI SHAN, that carrier of several MCs and MCSs of our acquaintence in here apparently has not yet docked at NYC. It left Southampton on 9/22 and was scheduled by the Cargo Tracking site as due at NYC on 09/29

Nice find there chris. Now I know where all the miles come from when you get your car. One would think they would put them on a car carrier to get from the port to the vpc, but guess BMWs are not even worth that much attention. I sure would like to be one of those longshoreman though, loading and unloading all those nice cars and driving them to the vpc.

Yes, only about a week and a half left for me because I wont be able to go back and pick it up till saturday the 11th. I wonder why TANABATA took so long in Baltimore?

As of 3:45 PM/EDT Tai Shan still show on Cargo Tracking as due in NY on 10/1. It better hurry up. Supposed to sail again later today. Looks like its going to be more than just one day late. Hope they strapped them down good... don't need tire marks on the side of my new mcs.

I also placed my order with Tom Bush Mini. On the TOSCA right now, pick-up middle of month. Who is your MA? I am dealing with Amy Jordan

That's cool speltzer, that someone actually ordered from the same dealer as me, especially when it's not a very popular one, not to say that it's bad, just not too many people on here are from the Jax area it seems. Anyways...

Back in march I was workin with Cameron (fired/quit since then), this was when we initially found the car and started looking at it. After the summer was over and our boat was sold and we were ready to order we came back and found out he was no longer there so the new guy Scott took care of us. He's about 4 months in now, not doin to bad. He said he was down here trying out for pro ball and was living with his uncle and passed the dealer and saw a now hiring sign or something, walked in and then got hired.

I thought I was about to get flamed for my post or something because you copied the whole thing.

I just tried to see the updated status of my car and MINI says it is in transit and WW says still at sea. Whats up? I know I am a little anxious, but it my baby they are transporting. Does any one know anything new about the Tai Shan?

Thanks.
