My dealer, Peabody, also didn't want to take the Capitol One check. "We have to wait for the money, how do we know the check is good?" It is Capitol One. Come on. Whatever, sucks but I wanted my MCS. Not to mention I had requested a new check with a lower rate and it had no yet arrived. I picked up on Saturday, same terms. 4.25 over 60 months. Cost roughly $150 extra over 5 years. It was worth that to pick it up then as opposed to waiting another week. In my opinion the dealers just doesn't like the competition. Love my car though.

score on your confirmation Brad!

My dealership doesn't have much leverage over me, even moreso being a 2nd time buyer; they either take my bank's check, or I go elsewhere.

Here's my abbreviated OWLA, I think it qualifies as such since I drove it for 2 days straight. If you want the full thing go see this (4 pages in word!): Andre's MINI Adventure

OWLA

I love this car! I slept 1 hour on Friday night and drove from Jacksonville to Orlando and then Lakeland on Saturday. This car wont let me sleep, if I were driving any other car I would have been out half way to Daytona and had to of let dad drive. I also drove from Lakeland to Tallahassee on little sleep with no chance of giving up the wheel. That obviously says something about the car.

12 miles at delivery on Saturday morning, almost 700 after it was over (will get exact number later)

I just don’t know what to say. We drove 300 some miles with dad in the passenger seat and mom behind him with some kind of furniture that mom bought in Orlando next to her. Roomy. This car has NO negatives at all, I can find none now that we have taken a long trip with such a seating/packing arrangement.

Andre was a dream, no issues what so ever, except the dirty butt and brake dust, but that’s no problem.

The car is so solid, I could just let go and it would keep on straight.

Love the digital speed readout in the tach, keeps one from speeding excessively on ACCIDENT, lol.

I also love the OBC now too. I was not really sure about it at first, but it’s really neat.

Got any questions.
I'm gonna start uploading/editing the pics now. Damn, I have to go to school tomorrow!

>>Great job posting photos! It's a beauty!!! I wish it were easier to post photos on this site. Can you share any tips, or was it a pain for you also?

I use Snapfish.com for photo hosting, it was a pain at first but I got the hang of it pretty quickly, I first learned how by posting pics of Hot Wheels on the Hot Wheels bulletin board.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Also...now I truly feel as if I belong...

I exchanged my first wave with a fellow MINI owner today...what a cool feeling!!! I don't know if it was a member of these boards, but it was a dark silver MCS travelling west on College Ave. in Appleton, WI.

Then I saw a young boy in an S-10 Blazer gawking at my car and leaning out the window to look at the Union Jack on the roof. I giggled.

I thought image station would work, but it wont let anyone see the pics if they are not on the imagestation web site.

I was just gonna host the esentials over on MINI2, but it actually took them all.

Just copy the address where the pic is at, click image, then paste the image address and hit ok.

Andre's MINI adventure, that's where I detail the whole trip.

I left last Thursday afternoon for a long weekend and have finally made it back. My wonderful MINI performed perfectly.......and now the break-in is well completed!!!! Although I have only had my MINI 10 days, I am now at 2,150 mile . A large jacked-up pick-up zipped (lumbered) onto the highway a little in front of me and at first stayed about 1/4 to 1/2 mile ahead of me. He then noticably slowed and I pulled into the left lane to go around him. Just as I got even with his rear bumber (notably at eye level with me!!!) he floors it. Well, a quick look down to the odometer shows 1,206 miles.....time to let it rip!!! I proceed to drop into 4th and immediatly pull right alongside him (as he is still accelarating) and then proceed to give him a little smile as I repeatedly speed up slightly past him and slow down....just toying with him....He He He !!!!!!! The MINI was obviously not even breaking a sweat as his rumbling bucket of squared-off, jacked-up sheet metal struggled along!!! Oh, and that was with the AC on......two people on the car....and luggage for a four day trip!!!

The whole weekend I had lots of opportunities to run it through the gears and it was a blast. The car is still changing as it breaks in. The shifting smoothed out a bit more, the exhaust is still changing it's tone a little, and it is accelerating a little bit faster!!!! I did get it up to red-line once after it was well past 1,700 miles. PERFECT!!!!!

So far, no rattles, no drivability problems, no problems at all !!!! A perfect car which I am very very happy with!!!!

Oh, a '71 Mach I Mustang did have the chance to show my MINI it is not invincable. However, I think he was little surprised that he had to try as hard as he did. If only my wife would have been willing to jump out and take the luggage with her I could have really made him sweat-it!!!!

BK MCS........Who was your motoring advisor at Tom Bush? Mine is incoming this month. I think I will pass on the Roadblock after seeing the installation on yours. I would demand it be repaired. They offered it to me for $395. Did they charge you a dealer prep fee? If so, how much? Love your color choice EB/EB!

Here's my story,

Early last week the Owners Lounge was showing an Estimated Delivery Date of October 11. On friday the 10th I called the dealer at about 11:00 a.m. to get an update. I spoke to my MA Karen who said "It's scheduled to arrive sometime this weekend so I have it booked for an inspection on monday and you can pick it up first thing on tuesday morning" - "GREAT!" I replied. Having a set time seemed much better than not knowing anything - it's going to be a LOOONG weekend waiting.

About 4:30 p.m. on friday my cell phone rings "Hi it's Karen. Your car arrived today, I sent it through inspection and it's being washed right now. Come and pick it up at 6:00p.m.!" - I start to hyperventilate, and I think there was some minor jumping and a little dance - it's all a blur.

So I rushed home from work to change my shirt and ... WHO CARES!! Here are the pictures!!

speltzer check your PM, I had Scott, I said before that I didnt like him, but he turned out to be cool and actually knew stuff about the car so he gets a thumbs up here. I'm not thrilled with the roadblock, but you can only tell close up so I'm not too upset, anyways I wont be driving it for a while now so it's up to dad if he wants them to fix it. How did they offer you $395, we were told that it was $590 when we ordered in August and my dad knocked him down to what he said the invincashield was after install, $450.

Nice reidb, but you're not making stupid a face!

Now I'm back to being sad again, it's like I never even took delivery of Andre, and I dont even have delivery to look forward too, I guess there's thanksgiving, unless I come home before that. Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not happy! Not happy at all! I now won't get to pick up my MINI till this Friday afternoon. Seems they were prepping my car today and discovered that the key will not manually open the door. The remote works and the key starts the car but it wont open the door manually. They have ordered a new cylinder and have told me they are highly confident that it will be in on and installed on Thursday. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrg! SO NOT HAPPY! Not the dealer's fault but still, very aggravating. At least they caught it before I discovered the problem at home and had to return the car to have it fixed.

NOT HAPPY! Can you tell I am not happy?

We have been working on the details for financing and the rate is 4.125%. We were going to pay with the blank check scheme but they really didnt like it but we offered to let them make and offer to beat it so they equaled it. That was for 4.25% but then were was confusion and my MA said 4.125 so we just agreed and walk away pretty happy. Just gotta wait till saturday hehe.

I know this has been asked and answered probably a thousand times but my search has turned up little useful info.

I am picking up my Pepper White MINI S tomorrow and wonder if there is a specific MINI checklist I need, (beyond the norm) before I drive away. The dealer is 300 miles from my home so I'd rather be thorough!

I'm getting a one-way rental and heading out early AM. I won't sleep tonight.
